Sue— so good to hear from you! And I love that your trip was so good socially! And no mishaps this time? You will be in shock coming back to winter! Kassie said it snowed yesterday in NYC. I thought you were on Losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide at one point. Maybe you got it changed. I have not called yet. Plan to do so now.
Holly I guess I am naive. I would have thought your CI’s were just updatable by computer but it totally makes sense that the processors would eventually become out dated. But 10,000 up front is insane.
We made large coil coil pots last night— mine is needing about two more hours— got it up pretty high but need to decide on lid or no lid or rim and decor. I could not sleep last night thinking about how I want to finish it! Crazy!

Sue, I found out just certain labs were on recall for Losartan— mine is made for McCloed Pramacueticals and was not recalled.

Joan, where there mishaps from my last trip, haha, I don't remember. I know that it has been cold in Philly, and I think some snow as well. It's been so hot/humid in the islands we have been to, and in Sydney, humid/cloudy.
Today I went to the zoo by myself, SO doesn't like zoos. Although this is a great zoo here, I totally understand why he hates zoos, the animals really should be out in the wild in their natural habitat. Glad you are enjoying your clay/pot making. There is a pottery studio a couple blocks from my house, my sister made some stuff there 25+ yrs ago when she lived there after she first got married. They are moving further away soon, rent is getting higher and higher in our neighborhood.
Housekeeper came today, so we will be coming home to a clean house, yay!
Tomorrow is our last day here and I'm going to totally relax. Every day here in Sydney, and every port day on the cruise we have walked a ton. Not only that but on the ship, I went to the gym almost every single day. I think I missed maybe 4 days at most. So...I think I gained a few lbs from when I went on that low carb diet right before we left on our trip, but less than what I was before the diet.
BTW, did I tell you guys, a couple months after we reserved this last cruise, we reserved our next cruise!!!!! OMG, we had until this past Oct (right before we departed for our vacation) to cancel. So next cruise is in March, YIKES! We have 2 months home and have to leave again! 36 day trip from Hong Kong to Dubai...some stops that I've been to before, like Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, but I've never been to Vietnam, Myammar, India, Cambodia, Japan (alot more, I can't remember off hand). We're so used to these ships now. We left some friends on board this last ship who are staying on for many more months.

Wow, Sue. The Israel trip will be a long one for me at two weeks.
The semester is a wrap, finally. Now I can focus on other stuff. Need to finish knitting Christmas presents.

Sue my reference to mishaps was that you said SO fell when deboarding somewhere— I thought. Maybe I misunderstood.

Busy, busy, busy—guess everyone else is as well!
I delivered plates of biscotti and salted p.nutbutter cookies to the gym, my nail place, and my dental implant place. They were most surprised—probably no one ever thinks of them since dental work is never fun! LOL. They just did so much work on my this past year—and no charge!
Did my clay class last night and he taught this tube thing that on pinterest was to be a bagel holder—I made mine a remote control holder—it was a simple project so was good for me as I had success with it and finished on time—it’s kind of cute—-like a log with two slots—I put two little birds in the two ends of the log and it’s interesting.
Bought DD a little cute bowl down there last night that my former teacher made—I love it.
My big breakfast was so good—but making food for the group and cookies and doing less walking than usual I picked up about 4 pounds in about six days—as of today they are gone—ugh—constant battle with me!
Sue, I am so proud of myself—I ate at a Gourmet French Bistro for lunch on Wed and had roasted parsnip pear soup and yesterday I recreated it at home—OMG, it is so good! It has a whole celery root in it and you float toasted hazelnuts and roasted pear chunks in it and a few small croutons—it has veggie broth and a half can of lite coconut milk and is puréed. I’m saving the majority for when DD comes with the girls.
I. Hope everyone is staying calm and having a nice lead up to Christmas!

Hi all,
Hope everyone has a great Christmas. I am finishing up a blanket for my sister. One more ball to go.
We did Christmas with the extended family and I made the coconut cake. It turned out well.
So glad to have a break from work drama until after the new year.

Hi!
Busy since we got back Monday night, so much to do with settling back in, especially around Christmas. Tues/Wed was unpacking, going through 2 months of mail, laundry, etc. I did a volunteer shift Thurs morning. Of course, gym every day.
We'll be going to my sister's on Tues for Christmas and I'm making a couple of dishes, so was busy looking at recipes and ordering groceries. Picked up my car from my sister's house this morning, had to take a train out to her house. She was driving it once a week. One of my condo neighbors had use of my parking space, they have 2 cars and the second car needs to be in paid lot. They loved my spot, I have a great parking space (the way it is situated in the in space, it is under cover and easy to get in and out of)
Joan, oh, yes, SO's leg fell in between the tender and the cruise ship last cruise. This time, I kept reminding him to be carefrul when we had to get on/off tenders. Good job on re-creating the soup! You should try freezing some to test how far you can make it in advance. My puree of cauliflower soup freezes very well.
Holly, I do not miss work drama. You are the coconut cake expert now! Is your bother working in a restaurant still?
Jojo, hope you're enjoying having family around. Will your son be able to come back from abroad? Wow, I just caught up with Walking Dead! Can't believe the last episode!
Already got some emails from people we met on the ship. And SO has tentatively reserved another cruise, Jan 2020, 70+ days! Alot of friends we have met will be on that cruise, it is a world cruise, but we will only be on 2 segments. It is already getting full and we had to reserve now, we will have some time before we finally commit.
I gained about 5 lbs from the trip (from my low point after the 2 week low carb diet). But as usually, I gained a few more after getting home. Not sure why, I think it may be more carbs when I'm at home.

Joan you must be doing great in the clay class to be already making useful objects. Sounds like wonderful fun -and of course always good For your brain to learn something new! The soup sounds delicious- you always find such interesting dishes to make.
I wrote a note on the thread last night on my phone - quite a long note- and hot the wrong key and lost it all! Couldn’t face doing it again last night. Don’t even remember what I said.
DH has a carotid ultrasounds scheduled for January 2 and an ENT appt scheduled January 7 , trying to discover the cause of dizziness he has had since November 28. I really think it is his ears . Since the weather has gotten better he is better. The vertigo was so bad Sunday that he could not get out of the chair- that day was a cloudy , rainy mess. I may be wrong but I guess we will see. Holly I know you suffered from vertigo yourself a while back. Did it go away? My sister had it off and on all the time. I hope his is not like that.
He is still trying to lose weight and is doing very well with not snacking- a real accomplishment for him. We walked today since the weather was good and you never know how long it will stay like that this time of the year.
DGD13 goes home tomorrow night and she is excited about it. Hope this has been the end of all this for her
My remodeling is coming along nicely but a long way to still go. The bathroom will be finished first. I am getting so excited as I see it progress
A friend had us over for brunch today. She had her house decorated In every nook and cranny - it was really something . It must take her “forever “ to decorate and then to “I decorate”- I just don’t Have that much energy!
Knowing how the last few days before Christmas go around here, I want to wish all of you a merry Christmas and a happy New year. May all the blessings of the Christ Child be yours! I love you every one!

Welcome home Sue! Wow , can’t believe we all posted at the same time! Funny!
BTW my GI problems have dramatically improved after two weeks of the meds- I am so relieved!
Sue- you will soon be “abroad” as much or more than at home! What a world traveler you are! I wish DH enjoyed traveling more. I would do more if he did.

Jo Anne, vertigo is the worst. I went through a year of severe episodes that eased considerably after that. Haven’t had any problems since I got the CI in that ear. Hope it improves. The barometric pressure is really low, so that may be part of it.
Sue, that sounds like a great cruise. Yes, my New Year’s resolution is to try to not let myself get sucked into work drama, lol. People sure do love to complain.

Happy New Year, everyone! We are on the road to Sacramento—left about 8:30 and are half way now—ate lunch at a place that had Vegan options—cute little cafe in downtown Bakersfield. Took forever to get the food tho so while it tasted good, it did delay us by more time than hoped for.
We had a great Christmas—actually Christmas Eve ended up being our best day/evening. DS from SLCity had a project for us—a secret—at about 3 pm he had all set up on the patio—two huge rolls of heavy paper (DD from CA helped him buy the supplies as she is in to art stuff) and paper plates with different colors of paints and lots of sponge brushes of different size. We were told to pick a spot and create something that would be a backdrop for a picture—it was so fun—the three GK’s present and DD’s and DS and his SO and us—we painted for about 1 1/2 and messed around embellishing each other’s paintings—we let it dry all night and DH and DS hung it in the garage where we took family pictures—it was sort of magical as we all had fun and got silly—toward the end I cut in to the 21 pound jack fruit that we bought with DS on Sunday and we all helped disassemble it to extract the fruit pods and the seed pods. It tasted very rich and sweet and like a combination of mango, pineapple and banana—but a relatively firm texture—not stringy at all. We took out 13 pounds of fruit! That took at least an hour or more—we all worked on it while DD and DS added border colors and filled in to connect all the areas that were still white. For dinner i had made two salads (quinoa b. Sq and guacolmole salads and warmed up the T Giving leftover spareribs from the freezer—had enough for all the meet eaters to be happy.
After dinner clean up we played left, center, right—and DH and I provided $50 to do so—everyone playing had 10 ones—the winner takes all—it took three times of play for someone to win and DS won it all. DSIL almost won twice. It was so fun—

Christmas morning was breakfast—the hit was the lemon blueberry scones with my lemon curd. I made everyone eggs to order and after we opened presents—many of which were just fun things to laugh about. DS and I made a 20X30 poster photo print for DD (therapist) with a picture of kale—DS took the picture)— and a quote by DGD18 from Twitter—she had posted : Therapy is better for you than kale! We put that title on the photo and gave it to DD for her office—she was so pleased. And it was a group effort so that was fun.
The girls loved their Marino wool cat socks that I bought—and the essential oils that I chose for stress and calm etc. DGD18 had requested peppermint oil for her feet and I expanded that a little as my yoga teacher creates special oils.
Taking the family photo was fun in the garage—even the two dogs got in the picture. Have not seen them yet as they are on DS’s big camera and he and his SO took off for their week trek by bike in Death Valley right after photos.
We babysat the dog and she became friends with each of the cats—now we had to leave her with DD and I felt so bad. DS will be back to spend the night on Sunday and get her. We will not be back till Tuesday—will drive on NY day.
So that was Christmas 2018 for us—was fun and I worked hard not to stress about the house and whatenot and I did a pretty good job—just enjoyed the craziness and the company and decided the joy was not in the fine details like having the house completely perfect all the time!

JoAnne, I’m so glad to hear you are feeling better! I hope your DH finds out what’s going on with his dizziness. Had vertigo once—not fun!
Holly, there are work settings that tend to have more drama and others, less. When I opened my second school, I hired a good looking young man who turned out to be a drama queen and who loved drama and rumors and everyone of the women admired him because he was super good looking—so he “netted’ in these women to a gossipy mean-spirited relationship—yet he was not at all interested in them. After one year he got out of there and I managed to lose about four of his key friends—OMG it was like a different school from then on—amazing how one person can create work drama. Is there someone doing that at your library?
DH worked at a very expensive private school the last eight years of working—he is a good listener—he was so worn out by being the person that stressed out people turned to to vent—when he quit he couldn’t believe what a relief it was.
Sue, so you are doing a cruise soon and another 70 daay one in 2020? You are soon going to have a little cult of cruise friends that plan time together on the oceans of the world! I am impressed that you immediately did your service work the first week back! I do think my parsnip pear soup would freeze just fine—it was sooo good—everyone had some the salad night—both DD’s loved it. DS and his SO loved the Life Changing Vegan Gluten free seed/nut/fruit bread that I made—it is tasty toasted—takes a long time to eat a slice.
I managed not to gain over Christmas! Yay! Now to get through this time in Sac.
DGD18 landed back in NYC this morning early—red eye flight. She was fun to be around again—I was amazed at how much she has matured! Like a totally different person—now her 14 year old sister has taken her place as a moody teen—how the heck does that happen so fast!
Joanne, why was the 13 DGD staying with you again? Wasn’t’ sure what you meant about things being settled now.
