Holly, I hope you can get some relief soon!
Your aunt? That’s how his aunt is—it is so exhausting and frustrating to be around—never a listening moment—always needing to have more knowledge on a topic, more experiences, —never just an acknowledgement of the statement and agreement or disagreement—that is pretty much my DGS as well. Also never knowing when to allow someone else in the supposed conversation to have a chance to respond even when you address them directly. Sometimes when we are not out and at home together and he does this to DD after I have specifically asked her a direct question, I will literally stop him and say, “I asked your mom because I want to know what she thinks.” And occasionally even then he will say, “But I know what she thinks.” OMG, it’s hard to be around at times!
Get my stitches out tomorrow morning!

Hi!
Sugery went well, and I had the follow up the next morning. It feels a little strange, I don't have full peripheral vision and it feels like there is something over the lower part of my eye. Hope that goes away soon. I have another appt in about 2 weeks.
Joan, Cherry Hill is so close! Is your BF's DH a Philly sports fan? I love Indian food, kind of labor intensive to make at home. Good thing there is a great restaurant by my house. Yes, I am definitely keeping an eye out on the weather in the south pacific.
So your DGS14 talks constantly?
Holly, we are having some cooler weather now too. I know what you mean about worry for your good eye. My good eye will need cataract some day, and I will be nervous as well. If my good eye feels the way my bad eye feels now after surgery, I would be very unhappy. Hope the night guard will work out well for you.
No volunteering this week. Yesterday we had lunch with ex partner and his wife, they were in my neighborhood in the city looking at furniture for their new NYC condo. We went to sushi place, yum.
We have been looking at larger hard case luggage to check in for our trip. Ugh, no wonder SO can't find a house to buy. The way he has been trying to pick luggage is a pain. So he just ordered one to see if we would like it, Away brand. I wanted a Tumi one, we'll see how this one is then decide. I would have just bought the Tumi one ages ago.

Sue, I just asked DH about his two cataract surgeries—he thinks you should call them and let them know how your eye is feeling—he did not have either of those feelings on either eye—there is a lens like a Saran Wrap his dr said—that gradually shrinks and smooths as your surgery healing days go by—he said his concern would be whether that has slipped.

Sue,I agree with Joan about you checking with the surgeon. I had s friend that turned out to have a stitch sticking out that caused irritation and she had to get it removed. But whatever, it should not be feeling like that.
I didn’t realize it had been so long since I checked in!
Holly- I hope you get some back and neck relief! I need to get my mouth guard replaced but they are so expensive.
Joan- great on the walking! I have clacked off this week since it was my week to cut the grass and I have done a lot of yard work. The weather has been beautiful here and very tolerable outside. I have stayed outside each day (except Tues.) til about 1:00.
My nephew had the brain surgery to remove a clot and stop a bleeding vessel on Tues. he is 40yrs old and did great with the surgery and is recovering well- home today From the hospital!
Tomorrow is to be another lovely day here. I will walk some.

OMG, that’s a very serious surgery for a 40 year old to have to have! Hope all continues to go well! How did they catch his problem before it went totally bad? Did he have an aneurism, JoAnne?
I did not set my alarm so slept till almost 7 but was shocked—it was still only 76 so we hopped up and walked to the park—met DD and DGS and walked to coffee—-was so lovely out! Then ran into our neighbors on the walk back and chatted—she went gray in 2016 and said after the grueling job of growing it out, she has never felt better—today, DH showed me a picture of Helen Mirin and said, you know, it looks really good. I told him, I have been watching people so closely and have come to realize something—it is not the gray hair that makes women look old—it’s the women who go gray and then never bother to use makeup or anything, dress rather “old” that look old gray. The classy dames who are gray and then stay “young” in their dress and demeanor just look pretty and sometimes even striking! That will be what I go for!
Hawaii is getting slammed with so much rain—one city on the Big Island got 42+ in of rain—I cannot even imagine! They said the next 6 to 12 hrs on Oahu will be intense. Thank goodness the hurricane was not a direct hit on them.
Had to cancel Jordan’s dental appt. as we realized on the way that we would never get him back in time—he is on student council and had to MC the first assembly for the juniors (when we made the appt. he thought it was a week later) so I flipped and U and took him back and he just made it—really hoping the place does not require another medicaid referral—their phones were on answering machine only yesterday so I could only leave messages and I did leave two. But the good thing is I just went to the gym so got lots of exercise yesterday!

I bought a pair of Allbirds Marino wool sneakers—OMG, they fit wonderfully—feel so good I’ve not taken them off since opening the box this morning—very unusual for me with shoes!

I am outside with my coffee—early body sculp class soon—and it is in the 70’s and so, so lovely! Just love it. I sprayed my tomatoes with kelp oil and fertilized them at the base—they are growing and some have blooms—will spray with Epsom salts tonight to increase the bloom setting but am excited because while they look pretty pathetic, they are going to stay alive and set more tomatoes!! Sometimes when I trim them they die!
DGD and DD and DSIL are on their way to NYC—I leave in the morning to go stay with Molly—she has a neighbor staying with her tonight. Will be driving h.schoolers to school mornings. And of course take Molly to ballet and cook dinners. Coming back on Sunday.
Walked 3.5 miles on my morning walk yesterday.
All weekend felt pretty nostalgic about DGD.

Hi!
Uneventful weekend here. I did call my eye dr and went in to see him last Thurs. Everything checked out fine, the lens is on perfectly, retina fine. I have to see him next week. He's done zillions of these surgeries, he joked that I was trying hard to be the "special" one, and I said I totally don't want to be special at all!
I did some boutique shopping in my neighborhood and bought some more clothes for the trip. Also some more online shopping.
Jojo, yardwork is good exercise! Glad your nephew's surgery went well, scary at such a young age
Joan, my hair stylist doesn't think I should do anything to my white hairs. SO likes the naturally white/grey look as well. Oh, so you're in CA now?
Tomorrow is volunteering in the morning. Another heatwave coming. They are closing schools in the afternoons Tues/Wed

Sue I am home—flying out tomorrow morning early. Just talked with DD and DGD group in NY—DGD will take two dance classes tomorrow to offset the past two days w/o dance and flying—then she started at Ailey on Wednesday. Supposed to be 96 tomorrow in NY—oh my, that’s hot! Then rain the rest of the week.
Sue, I think your hairdresser has great advice—if I were to do it over, I’d not have started dyeing hair—but as DD says, in the 80’s everyone was doing that so the societal pressure probably motivated me as well. But today, there is a move on to be more natural and gray hair is actually “in” in some areas and I think particularly out here in the west.
I am packed but have not organized my fridge so DH can use up leftovers easily and I have some I need to freeze as he will not bother with them. So guess I should get moving. I’m going to miss Tanzi and she, me. We spend a lot of time together! Weather was so lovely today!

Worked in the yard all day yesterday- was very hot and I must have drank a gallon of ice tea - then tonight I could not sleep. Toused and turned until 5am and then finally got up.
Joan - my nephew did not have an aneurism just a leaking cluster of vessels that supply the brain. He is recovering much better than we expected. May not even need the cognitive therapy that was expected. Have fun with your granddaughter!
DDIL in Calif. called tonight. The move has been tough for all. DGD tells her every day that she misses her friends. She has grandparents day the end of October and was sad that she had no grand parents to invite. DDIL says they will by a plane ticket, if we will come. We will have to stay in a hotel if they are sill in the apt.-it is two bedrooms. They have put an offer in on a house and will know about it by the weekend. If they get the house they can close in three weeks and we won’t have to stay in a hotel. She said the house is similar to theirs in Texas but cost them one million more! Crazy!
Sue - I am so glad your eye is ok! I have never heard of anyone having that much discomfort. Is it better now? I hope so. I see how that could discourage you from getting the other one done.
Today I will stay inside and stay cool (And probably sleep!

Don’t know how I posted twice.Joan I have never heard of those shoes. If you let your hair grow out I think you will like it. I do. I have had to change the eyebrow color that I use. Since I have done that, I like it even better.

I typed a post yesterday and then lost it when a phone call came in and I made the mistake of answering the call on my ipad!
JoAnne, I only drink iced tea from herbal tea now if I have any past noon—I just cannot sleep at night with any small amount of caffeine in my system.
Look into Hyatt Place to stay—in CA—DD has had really good luck with good prices there. And often they were in area around Santa Clara or San Fran for dance conventions. Even in NYC she found one for 149 @ night last spring.
I was gone most of the day—went to an el. School and met up with a former teacher of mine who left vegas while teaching for me in 1999–this was the first time we have met up in about 15 years. Was so fun to visit with her as she only occasionally gets a prep period and had one this morning—chatting as tho we have been hanging out consistently! She was such a good teacher.
Then I had lunch out (avocado toast and poached egg) and then went to J Jill to spend my birthday coupon—20% off total purchase—only bought things on the 40% rack other than one pair of black leggings—so pleased—today was the last day to spend my coupon.
I baked salted peanut butter cookies for DGD—made them and froze the formed cookies yesterday. Last night I made a batch of meringue cookies which she absolutely loves. Tonight she is going to her first ever football game—I will hang out here with the kitties. Happy to do so since I was gone almost all day.
DGD18 (tomorrow she will be 18) got into level 5 at Ailey—she was pleased as that meant she was raised a whole level this year—she got her schedule today—looks like Wed and Friday will be totally long days and two days a week she starts at 8:30 and is done by 2–so she may be able to get a job or to take a class at the community college. Either would be helpful—she will also supplement with a couple point classes at Step since Ailey wouldn’t be enough alone to advance her point work.
Tomorrow they move her into her little apt. Glad it is them and not me—4th floor with no elevator—yuk! And they are higher steps—funny that the old buildings were like that when the people we know were overall on the average shorter than people today.
I have not done any reading—I don’t know why I have not been able to focus on reading my books lately—usually I read like crazy.
Today I did not walk so tomorrow I must—DGD will have ballet almost all afternoon. We plan to go out for dinner tomorrow night.
I also have not constantly cleaned house here as I sometimes do—picked up and ran one load of clothes but nothing else really other than keeping up the kitchen.
Last night I watched The Princess Bride—love that movie even tho I have seen it many times.

Hi!
Had another check up with the eye doc, unfortunately, I'm going to be one of the rare people who takes longer to adjust. He said I might even beat his longest patient at 4 months, ugh. If this were my good eye I would be miserable. But the dark shadow seems to be a little better at least.
Got my nails done, tomorrow we are driving up to MA for SO's nephew's wedding. The weather will be cooler at least.
Jojo, so hot here, I can't imagine you out there gardening so much.
Joan, sounds like you are enjoying yourself. Nice to have the alone time with DGD.
I'm wearing a new dress tomorrow, I got it for the cruise, it is short in the front and long in the back, very unusual and has nice draping. It is white with black polka dots and the fabric feels nice.
