Joan- I too love seeing old friend and catching up. Sometimes I get so nostalgic about old times. Time passes so fast. I will look st the Hyatt. We usually use Hilton hotels is they are available. I think I have enough points for a free night.
Sue- your dress sounds adorable. I would like something like that.. The cruise is not far off now! It is very hot outside to garden but I come in and Rest at intervals to cool off.
This morning I gave myself a pedicure and manicure and I’ waiting for it to dry. They are having festivities at the square today and I plan to go. DH doesn’t want to so I’ll go by myself.

Have fun today, JoAnne—wonder why men tend to pull out of life more than women in our later years? I got up and walked 3 miles this morning—to a coffee shop and back after having an avocado toast and iced Americana there—Sacramento is the city of trees—it is just so pleasant to walk on the sidewalks totally lined with huge trees—was only 60º this morning at 8:30–home tomorrow afternoon and while it is much cooler than it was it will not be able to compete with this—I love it here—could easily move here if I didn’t have a lot of friends and the absolutely perfect gym/teacher and classes! And book club!
Today I think I will clean house—have not really done so but would like them to come home to a nice environment—nicer than when they left in a total hurry!

Hi all,
PT is going well. I am going twice a week for 3-5 more weeks. I am just going to have to make sure I keep the exercises as part of my routine. Don’t want to let the pain keep building.
We don’t get Labor Day off, probably because we have a day off at Fall and Spring Break. So just another work day for me tomorrow.
Joan, is DGD going to a non degree dance school or something similar?
Jo Anne, what project are you working on? Our knitting group is taking turns knitting a section of a prayer shawl. Pretty neat.
Sue, hope your eye is doing better.

Holly- trying to do face cloths that have a design. The design is difficult- I have yet to get my stitches even when I am doing a design- especially yarn overs- it seems the holes all come out different sizes- usually bigger than I want them. I just finished a Baret type hat for my granddaughter in Tunesian crochet. The clothes are knitted.
Today we went to dinner after church and then to the square for the festival. Yesterday I went alone and had a wonderful time. Bought myself some earrings. Today DH went. They had the farmer’s market as well as the festival. We purchased some local honey. It was very hot and DH didn’t last long walking by the booths so we didn’t stay long.
Didn’t hear from the Calif. kids so don’t know if they got the house they put the offer on or not.

Goodmorning! got up early today and had mango ginger tea and toast. Trying to to go easy on food today and yesterday. Had a bad night GI wise night before last. We really ate heavy over Labor Day weekend and I think I over did it.
Holly - have started over my knitting project several times and I am finally getting it to look more even. I guess practice makes perfect is true.
The kids did get the house so we can stay there. Will be there 2 weeks.

JoAnne, hope you are feeling better by now. Have you even given any thought to trying vegetarian? I cannot believe how comfortable my stomach feels not having meat anymore—I know it sounds crazy but discomfort after a meal is almost unheard of in my life now. I just had my breakfast after a 3 mile walk this morning—was a bit late but still was only 75 so it was fine—I slept till 7:15 which was awesome. I had homemade toast, avocado, a smear of orange sweet potato with the avocado and arugula and three slices of purple yams with sun seeds and chili powder—-such a good breakfast and really full of nutrients. I read an article about people baking yams just part way and then slicing them in long flat slices and chilling in the fridge—then they toast the slice and smear their avocado and toppings on the toasted sweet potato—thought it sounded interesting—might have to try that sometime.
DH left for Ely NV yesterday—he is going to visit DS Park Ranger a couple days—then on Friday I will drive to DS”s in SLC with the Toyota Sienna and DH will meet me there with his truck—we will drive home in the truck together on Sunday morning. DS is buying our van. So we will borrow DD’s little Mazda 3 for a few days until the new car comes in—we ordered a Subaru Ascent—it is not a mini van but still relatively large (a little narrower and shorter than the van) and seats 7–it is due in Vegas about the 18th . DD bought a new Subaru Outback so has not sold her little car yet—handy for me so I can still get the the gym on my own—hate being dependent on a ride from DH. Today after gym class I take the Toyota in for an oil change for the last time—I do love my minivan but it is a little crazy to drive it all over by myself all the time—the Subaru gets way, way better mileage and costs about $10,000 less than a mini van. It is loaded with awesome safety features.
Holly, I am so glad your PT is helping—and yes, do keep doing the exercises at home—that is the problem with PT—so many of us treat it like a fix but it is really a training in how to fix ourselves and keep ourselves fixed. I try to consistently do my leg stretches that I did after my back surgery almost 6 years ago—keep a strap by my bed—and when I miss for a few days I can literally tell the difference.
Sue you are nearly on countdown to leaving us!!
DGD18 had her first classes yesterday and really felt good about them—said they were hard enough so that’s good—today she had to be up at 5:30 to be ready for early classes—hope she made it on time. She is managing so far to feed herself using her one burner stove and microwave and blender. She is planning her food ahead—man, if she learns to do that consistently she will be in great shape—yesterday she finally went across the hall and met the two girls across from her. DD worries about her being alone too much but it takes time to make new friends and I think being cautious is okay , to a point.
DD here called today and said DGD14 was panicking about a math test today and needed help—of course, he did not seek help in time—then she said he had a fever so was staying home—oh my, her co-dependent personality clicks in so easily—when I asked what his “fever” was she said 100–we didn’t even send kids home from school until it went above that—and I could totally see him doing something to increase his temperature as he is into that kind of avoidance whenever the going gets stressful. But, he’s not mine—she was raised in a house where you went to school and if the school nurse said you needed to be home they called and we picked you up—that is not this child’s world. He missed two days now and it’s only been 3.5 weeks today. That is not a very good average. DGS17, living with his dad, is skipping school on average at least a day a week—maybe more—it sickens my stomach being from education where we knew it was the kids who consistently came that developed responsibility and achieved. DGS17 is so smart he gets away with this but his younger brother is not as academically savvy so it will hurt him. Last year he started to get some rather average grades—and below.

Do you block your projects? That should help even things out.

Joan - yes, when things get bad I do back off on meat but have to cook it for DH and eat it some (or more than some). I have started back taking the Reglan that the surgeon gave me and will see if that helps. Enjoy your trip to see DS Park Ranger - have a safe trip.
Holly - I have started blocking things. Never did it when crocheting but find it more helpful with knitting. I find the faceclothes are good for practicing stitches and designs. I love making socks but they can get tedious. I probably should do more than one project at a time to keep drom getting bored with a project.
I've bee cleaning out some of the brush and weeds in the very back of my yard and on the side where it has gotten grown up. I have to put my tall rubber boots on when doing it because I am so afraid of snakes. Will go out and do some more tonight. Did a little yard work earlier today after grocery shopping.
With all the yard work and the digestive problems that I have had, my wt. has stayed amazingly stable. I have gotten bad about wanting a tiny bit of something sweet after I eat even if it is an Oreo! Wish I would not do that.

Hi!
The wedding was very nice. Seems like a long time ago already. The ceremony was outside in a rustic farm like setting and the weather was perfect, sunny not hot or humid. The bride and groom arrived in horse and carriage. Reception was inside.
My eye seems to be a little better.
Jojo, are you watching the football game? I am! Glad your DS family got the house.
Joan, have you watched World of Dance? Some of the young people on the show are amazing, made me think of your DGDs.
Holly, great that PT is working out for you. Hoping you can be completely painfree.
Busy week, volunteered Tues and today, had annual physical on Wed, also did more cruise shopping, buying more dresses. Last time I wished I had brought more with me. Of course, gym every day. I've been doing 6m walk and on days of volunteering, about 4-5 mi depending on how much time I have.

Wow, lots of walking, Sue!
I am almost ready to leave for the car dealership (1200$ in repairs and had to wait for a part till this morning) to get car to leave straight from there for SLC—just talked to DH and we are going to a Vegan restaurant tonight—yay—love trying veg and vegan places because I always get ideas for my food.
Just had a poached egg on top of homemade toast with smashed yam and arugula and chili powder—wow, I am so loving that sort of breakfast—it was good with the egg. That will be my brunch (skipped eating earlier so that I would not have to stop on the road for a meal.). Taking raw carrots and snap peas for snacks. Honestly, JoAnne, DH is now eating meat again, but I really cannot stomach it any more—I literally love the vegetarian thing—have never felt this good disgustingly overall!
Sue the wedding sounds so neat!!
Cats know I am going—have seen my little overnight bag—not happy!
Ok, I better pack a couple change of clothes—for some reason my hair looks so good today—hope it still looks good gray—I love the cut she gave me and the way she has me combing it! Sort of like a pixie cut—not terrible short but shorter than before. I go again next week—am going to keep it shorter now that I can go cheaper!
Gotta’ run!

Worked clearing brush and weeds from the wooded area of my yard. Only worked in the early morning and evening when it was not so hot.
My Ionic Fitbit replacement came today. I really have missed it. My old Ionic battery stopped charging- they replaced it.
Watching Captains Courageous on TBS. Was made in 1937
I am so tired and will go bed soon!

You work so hard out there, JoAnne! You remind me of BF here—she does all her yard work—her DH does not a bit of it! I don’t think I’d manage very well if I had it all. DH is going to mow tomorrow and weed. Then I have to clean out my raised beds and plant winter stuff. I have book club to get ready for—-need to cook all the ingredients for forbidden rice bowls and make my vegan chocolate bundt cake—club is Thursday night. I want it all done by Wednesday. Except for the rice.
Also need to finish my book.—am about 2/3 finished now.
I bought a spiralizer this morning—will make a bowl tomorrow night—we ate at a place called Rawtopia—locally owned in SLC—omg it was so good—I had a zoodle bowl that was to die for—will try to duplicate but I did find a ton of recipes for need things on a blog today—am going to start experimenting again! DH is going to get some trial stuff!
Did the gym this morning—then groceries and recipe searching.

JoAnne, yes, another gadget—but I think for vegetarian cooking it will be handy—my bowl in SLC was really delicious and DH would be willing to eat that meal and like it—he, too, is a veggie fanatic but he also likes meat—I also think it would be great for reducing carb intake and yet enjoying the pasta-like quality of a meal if you used it as pasta. So, we’ll see—my WW BF uses hers regularly—if I don’t, then I’ll gift it .

My zoodle bowl was good—wow, all the chewing it takes to eat a large bowl of veggies—here is what was in it: cucumber, red pepper, celery, red onion, delicato squash chunks, a few strips of fried plantains, romaine, spinach, marcona almonds, avocado, patty pan summer squash chunks, broccoli florets, zoodles, and a “dressing” made of almond butter and spices like turmeric, curry, fresh ginger, and a little squirt of honey. That was a lot of vegetables! DH liked it but felt he needed more dressing and he needed the dressing to be a bit “thinner”—I didn’t thin it out much because at the restaurant the moisture in the bowl from the zoodles took care of that but mine did not “bleed” that much—so will thin it with a little rice vinegar next time. I have never even touched an actual plantain at the store—fried the whole thing and the little that I put in was such a nice little “sweet” bite—will do a few more strips next time. So this morning I must write it all down on my recipe ipad file. One more veg meal I can do.
DD here and DD in CA and I all booked flights to NYC for the weekend of Feb 7-`11–we are doing a girls visit to DGD18! She was so funny when we told her—her response was “Yay, it will be just like Sex in the City without the sex!” Then later she said, “So I guess it’s just City!” DD here has never been there so will be fun for her in a lot of ways.
