Short and sweet goddesses is a thread especially for us "Short n' Petite Gals". As "Short n' Petites", we have our own issues. Our goals are lower, and as we all know, a 5-pound loss or gain can make a huge difference on a Short n' Petite. We are here to support and encourage one another, so please feel free to join us!

Holly - thanks for starting the Feb. thread. The BP issue is evidently what we call "essential hypertention". Has the Md put you on med.? Sorry that you are having to deal with this at such an early age. I would love to teach crocheting to my grandchildren but DGD5 is so far away and DGD11 has some interest but not enough "stick to-ifness". DGS 9 wanted to learn about a year ago and I taught him to chain stitch, gave him a needle and thread but I don't think he ever did anything with it. I guess you really have to want to learn and keep it up!
Sue - how neat that you found someone that went to the same school and in the same field!
Joan -No DS did not come here, only DDIL and DGD5 at Christmas. He was in Angola. I just miss him and wish I could see him. I am thinking that maybe we can go to Houston when he is home in March for the Rodeo. We went once before to the Rodeo but it was over 5 yrs. ago before DGD was born.
DH went back to the MD today for follow up on the infection he had after the eye surgery. All is wee and he is to follow up in 2 mo.
Did the usual Wed. Seniors grocery shopping today but went late in the day (afternoon) due to the MD appt. with DH today. So had store bought pizza and wine for dinner tonight as it was quick to fix. Actually it was very good - Diorginos. Sue - when you have pizza and a martini, do you order out for the pizza or cook a store bought one? This was the first store bought pizza I have had in about 10 or 15 years and was surprised how good it was!

Hi!
Quick post, very tired. Served 7 customers tonight, slow and easy night, but slightly stressful because it was my first night serving salads.

Just punch the wrong key and lost my post!
Have had DGS4 here today. He actually wanted to come to our house today. We spent the morning playing here at the house then went to J.Christopher's for lunch. Afterward we went to the park. Good day for that - warm but not hot. Looks like rain right now.
Haven't decided what to have for dinner quite yet - but probably something with potato crusted cod.

Did my usual yoga---good workout today---lots of tricep push ups and balance poses and core work. Did I say already that my underarm "wings" have tightened up so much---they aren't perfect but suddenly I'm realizing they are way different from 6 months ago when I nearly could have taken flight with them. Doing the weights makes such a bid difference on the arms!
DH got up early to take cruise BF's to airport again---they travel every 2 to 3 weeks now. So now he is napping---getting up at 4:15 is not fun!
Fed DD's animals early this morning and then DH picked up the dog after his yoga and dog will spend most of the day here---he's really lonesome over there without DD home. Going to take him for a short walk here in a bit.
Need to get back in the office to finalize the clean up and organization process! Almost ready to have DH haul away the temporary table he put up for me about 3 years ago!! LOL. Procrastination aficionado!
Nice that you have some grandchildren nearby to enjoy, JoAnne!
I made oatmeal for breakfast with blueberries and a banana and had red pepper tomato soup and some cottage cheese and apple for lunch. Will make a smoothie for a snack. My Vietnamese friends and manicurist brought a Vietnamese cracker of sorts to the shop for me yesterday---OMG, I love it---had tasted it once before when they were snacking. Wish we had something like it here. Her DMIL brings it back from Vietnam every time she goes and then they gradually cook it---it has black sesame seeds and is made from coconut oil and flour---not really sweet but not a salty taste either. Very crunchy!
Sue, I meant to ask you what the term "covers" means.
So what now with the BP Holly? New meds having an effect?
Found out my new favorite gym teacher, Sue, is 65years old---would have thought 55---wow, a lifetime of working out well makes a huge difference on aging!
Headache today seems worse than usual---have to get back to the allergist and get started on more in depth allergy testing and maybe shots. Once again I have a whole crop of cankor sores---OMG, I wish I knew what was causing this. Today's soup was first tomato type thing I've had in a long time so it can't be that---these started about 3 days ago.

Hi all,
I'm on a new med similar to Propanolol. It doesn't seem to be doing anything. I have an echocardiogram next week.
I am going to see if my coworker who lives close to me wants to take a yoga class with me. I have a yoga app, but just haven't had the motivationto start a routine with it.

Hi all,
Glad it's Friday. For some reason I keep waking up at 4am every morning and can't get back to sleep.
Tonight my church circle is having a get together to honor the outgoing leader. This group is mostly comprised of women who are retired or don't work, but I enjoy being a part of it to help with service projects.

Hi!
Another week down! We only had 4 customers last night, so I helped to cook something for the staff meal. Chef had a ton of cut up potatoes from a first quarter class and I made a huge sheet pan of roasted potatoes with EVOO, rosemary, garlic and cheese. Not too different from what I have been doing for years, but the amount was enough to feed about 20 people not the usual 4 or so servings.
Weight still at 120s.
Jojo, so cute that DGS4 wanted to be with you at your house! Great feeling for you.
Joan, awesome that your arms have tightened up with the exercise! Does DD's dog get along with your cats? "covers" mean customers Gosh, I hope you can get some relief from the cankor sores, it's been going on for too long.
Holly, all week long I look forward to Fridays! Enjoy your evening, is it a potluck?
Plan today, homework, some food prep, gym. Sous chef at work wanted me to come in over the weekend so that I can work with the other sous chef to get that experience, apparently the other sous chef is kind of special. So I'm going to go there on Sunday.
SO continues to look online at houses in CA, but so far he has not brought anything to my attention yet.

Morning all,
Just sitting here listening to music and drinking coffee. It's a beautiful day.
The party last night was really nice. I am the youngest member of the group, but these ladies have taken me under their wings, many were good friends with my grandmother. We all brought appetizers.

Holly = good to hear you enjoyed the gathering!
Sue - you certainly have a Thurs. to work forward to with 25 "covers". That is how I like to make the roasted potatoes too. Sometimes I put other spices and not the cheese on them. I don't think you can mess them up.
Joan - I feel that if I ever get back to my exercises, it will make a difference in my arms too. I need incentive and probably will after I finish the crocheting that I am doing.
Yes, Holly it is a beautiful day. My plan - to take a walk. Got very cold here last night though so I'm waiting a few more hours for it to be the warmest part of the day.
We have been getting antsy for a trip; talked to DDIL in Houston yesterday about coming out there for the rodeo. We went for one once before but it was before DGD5 was born - so about 6 years ago. This will be in March.
Tomorrow we will watch the Super Bowl and of course, cheer for the Falcons! Taking a crock pot of soup to church tomorrow for a dinner. I'm making vegetarian vegetable.

Hi!
We watched Captain America last night, it was ok. I still am having pizza about 3x per month, Amy's frozen organic Margherita or homemade flatbread pizza. Instead of martinis I'm doing gin or vodka with sparkling water and ice.
Holly, glad you had a fun night. What appetizer did you make? It is a nice and sunny day here too, but in the 30s.
Jojo, yes, it does seem like it's been awhile since you've traveled. Will your DS be in Houston in March?
I am rooting for Ryan and the Falcons, I also really, really, despise the Patriots, from when they beat the Eagles in the superbowl years ago. SO is from Boston area so he would like Patriots to win, but at least he doesn't openly root for them in front of me. And he has told me in the past that in Eagles/Patriots matchups, he would root for Eagles for my sake.
Did more homework today, went through mail, will go to the gym shortly, and more food prep tonight. I need to essentially make everything on weekends for SO since I'm exhausted on Mondays after interning, at school in the evenings Tues-Thurs.

Taking a break to sit down and catch up here. Went to my body roller class today---worked on thighs--and shins and hip flexors Then came back and worked on the office ---got through three boxes of school writings that I've saved--and memorbalia---from my principal days---and got it down to 2 boxes---also pulled some for sharing on FB and for my FB group site as well. I saved a lot of kids writings---always had them writing stuff for me and required my teachers to do weekly poetry so pretty soon the kids just liked writing poetry as well. I found one very poignant one that a teacher sent up to me wondering if it should be shared on TV--I did closed circuit TV program with them every Monday and shared some writings that way---never did share it cause we worried that the mom might feel anxious about it if others mentioned it to her---was about marriage and divorce.
Then I came out here in kitchen and put together a salad with arugula and kale I cut today---it's really nice---very tender and certainly fresh! Put butternut sq. Chunks, a bit of cranberry (not much), red pepper for color, scallions and red onion and avocado and am chilling some quinoa to add---just putting a mango infused white balsamic with a bit of olive oil on it. Wish I could put marcona almonds but just can't risk with my mouth. Taking salad over to BF's who is having us to dinner with another couple they like---we played cards once before with them--nice people although we don't know them very well.
Sue, Tanzi, loves the dog---she wants to rub her face all over his face---and up in his ears! Her affection is shown through face rubbing---she does that with us as well---she's a funny cat. Sidney used to be afraid of him but now just seems to accept him---likes to watch him.
JoAnne, any ideas about this? I've been waking up with a headache on the left back side of my head and the scalp in that area feels almost sort of sensitive and tender---like I'd like a nice warm massage on it or something---very gentle. The headache is just sort of dull---seems weird to me that I have the scalp feeling sensitive---I am not typically a headache person but this may be related to the allergy problem---or something else---just not sure---but it's just sort of an irritant level--not really terrible. Also might be stress--not sure.
Holly, glad you had a nice time---it's nice for your friends to spend time with someone younger as well.
Sue comparing 4 to 25 seems crazy!! So this is reservations only I'm assuming! Is this the school restaurant or the intern restaurant?
Sort of glad that cruise BF's are out of town as I really don't feel like going out to breakfast tomorrow. No super bowl party or viewing plan here---BF's daughter has a party yearly now---we could possibly go but honestly, their house is so echo-y and they invite so many that DH and I cannot tolerate the noise level with our hearing aides! We went to one or their parties a few years ago. Plus, I watch a little and then sort of stray away anyway unless it's just a fabulous game---haven't seen one game this year!
Well, I better go freshen up and change clothes. Have a good evening!

I just took chips and dip. Nothing fancy.
Joan, I get overwhelmed by the noise when there's a crowd. Can be exhausting.
