Holly, I can only imagine about the noise with CI's==with my hearing aides I really cannot stand the interference of really confusing background noise! And for DH it is really terrible because his hearing is so much more compromised.

So sorry JoAnne--at dinner during the 3rd Qtr DH was griping that it was not a close game and I told him that I was afraid the Pats were going to win and then my prediction comes true---I couldn't watch after the tie---just changed channels.
My pizza turned out really yummy---DH didn't like some flavor it had---I had to make up my sauce for it because I was totally out of tomato paste that I usually spice up to use---but I just could not make myself go to the store! I personally loved mine---I put a few chunks of butternut sq.on mine (roasted, of course)--I make 2/3 for him with mushroom, bl olive, and artichoke and 1/3 for me with roasted red pepper, goat cheese, lite mushroom and then the squash---it was so yummy.

Hi!
I did my 8 hr internship yesterday instead of today and worked with the senior sous chef. She is very interesting, this is her third career, she is 43. Anyway we talked a lot yesterday while working together.
Joan, it is reservations for the school restaurant. At my internship, the restaurant serves as many as 300 people throughout the day between breakfast, lunch, dinner on a weekend!
I only watched the halftime show. I didn't want to jinx the Patriots into winning by watching the game, ugh, well that didn't help, but glad I didn't watch it at all given the loss. I was happy during the first half, but knew that you never can tell what will happen.
I have been doing some homework, and will do some food prep soon, some errands later on.
I have internship tomorrow morning, and then on to tne usual school grind for the week.

Hi all,
We had a low key Super Bowl affair. I didn't pay much attention to it, but did not want the Patriots to win either.
Joan, with hearing aids, it's mainly just noise, and it can be extremely difficult to distinguish individual voices. With CIs, I can hear individual voices in the noise, but it takes effort, and is exhausting. I need to find some scheduled time during the day to turn my CIs off so that I won't be exhausted at the end of every work day.

Hi All, Watched the entire Super Bowl and was very disappointed. But had said to DH in the frst quarter , " If the Falcons lose, (we are used to being losers), I can say that they have already played a super game"! At least Lady Gaga was more reserved and proper than I have seen her in some other presentations; so that wasn't too bad. DH didn't watch the half time show with me. I wasn't very impressed with the commercials which always are usually good.
Yes, Sue, DS will be home in Houston when we plan to go. Trying to look at the events at the rodeo (concerts, etc) to see when we will go.
Joan - I love homemade pizza. Hardly ever buy one anymore already prepared. Yours sounded good!
Holly - amazing how sensitive the CI's are. If you have the CI turned off, how does that work? Can you hear at all or can you use your hearing aid?
I've been really wanting Spring to come soon and have been watching the QVC pre-garden show all morning. Have ordered several things for my yard - flowers.
Got tired of crocheting yesterday and finally did some of the paper clutter stuff that I have needed to do for so long. Also reorganized my closet. Guess I will try to start taxes soon. DH is doing a talk in Feb. and one in March for "Face to Face" which is the Senior Emaues. That is a type of spiritual retreat; with the Senior one they do not stay overnight.
DH asked me the other day what I wanted for Valentines! I hate being asked what I want for Valentines - somehow not very romantic. I told him I just wanted to go out to dinner. He said that we would do that anyway (which is all we ever do). I always get everyone (family) Valentines and the kids some little gift. This year I got them (the kids) each a little pillow shaped like a heart with a Valentine saying on it. Actually we will probably combine my birthday dinner and our Valentine dinner since they are so close together.
Back to making my sweater.

Oh yes, I am so proud of myself - started my resistance strength exercises back today! I hope it helps my flabby arms and the bursitis that I have been having in my right hip. Joan I see that you are exercising too - great!

Hi all,
JoJo, when I turn them off, I'm completely deaf. The processors are similar to hearing aids with on/off, volume and program setting controls. I can take the processors on and off.
We are going to the mountains this weekend. Can't wait. My echocardiogram results were normal.

Hi!
Jojo, great job on getting back to resistance training!
Holly, glad the test results were good. What are they going to try to do next?
Busy Tues for me, did my 5 hr internship then had school restaurant class at night. We prepared for 15 people coming tonight and 25 people Thurs, but up to 6inches of snow is expected tomorrow, so there will be cancellations.
BBL!

Sue -stay safe and warm! Will you still go to school if it snows that much?
Did my exercises. My leg felt better last night but terrible when I got up this morning. Hopefully keeping the exercises up will help. Will fix some lunch and then go for a walk if it is not raining.

JoAnne, are you included in the tornado watch??? HOpe not---or is it just heavy storms? Saw a terrible twister in New Orleans on the news.
Did my classes today--wow the weights class was challenging today with my 7#ers. But that's good. She announced she will start a body sculpt class on Mondays at 8:15 in March---torn---I would love to do that as well---I might just do it and walk the hour inbetween and then do the dance and chair (on the floor for me) yoga---That would bump up my Mondays a lot.
Came home and am baking two loaves of whole grain rye bread===light rye---partial rye flour and caraway seeds and molasses instead of sugar to darken the bread---just put the larger loaf in the oven. Also making chicken noodle soup---smaller pot---I bought a rotisserie chicken Monday so am cooking the carcass and some of the meat---makes it so easy to make a fast soup. So soup and salad and bread for dinner tonight. Can't wait!
I've made so many new friends at this gym and it's been so fun---one particular lady comes to all the same classes as I do so we talk a lot over a week's time---she started the same time as me---today I learned something about her---she is Syrian---we both teared up talking about her background---she is about my age. Our class is very multicultural---Indian, Chinese, Japanese, African American, Jewish, and Caucasian---we all have such a great time---it's a shame the world cannot get to a gym together and get to know one another!
I cannot imagine your getting that much snow, Sue---you really haven't had much this year, have you? Seems it might shut down a lot if it all dumps at once.
We watched two more episodes the The Crown last night---it is truly so good! We may finish it off tonight.
My office is reorganized---DH hung my little mail hutch on the wall so finally have a mail sorting cabinet again---it used to be inthe kitchen where we had the custom cabinet with glass door installed---since taking it down I have no place to sort out the bills that must be paid or correspondence answered---I only have a few like that but without this little mail slot thing I have been challenged to keep this stuff organized---have to sort my mail stack now.

Joan - we have had no tornado watch here. Have had rain though. I ended up walking around the house inside yesterday as it was raining and I didn't want to walk in it.
Sue has your snow started yet? I see on TV that NY has 6" already and they are expecting a foot! Good days to do inside things I would thinkl
DH and I have to go get our car tags today. Both cars are in my name so we have to get the tags before my birthday.
While out I have to buy a birthday present for a little friend (my DDIL's little sister, 8 yrs. old., the one who is w/c bound and cannot talk or walk and has little use of her hands). Always a challenge when buying a gift for her. She, however, is very intelligent and uses an electronic board for speaking. She and I have the same birthday.
Still working on the sweater. I told DH today that I may finish it by Spring!
Holly - I went to the Knit Picks site to get some more yarn for the sweater and ended up buying a "bunch" of thread to reach the $50 free shipping - it's just not worth it to have to pay shipping and handling - especially when I know that I will eventually use it.
We are finalizing our plans for the trip to Texas for the rodeo, Almost waited to late to get the tickets for the rodeo and the concert. They have them every night for three weeks with a different singer or group and the seats are almost all gone. We will be sitting in the nosebleed section. There are all sorts of things going on during the day too (exhibits, carnival, rides, shows, etc.) If you have a rodeo/concert ticket you get a day pass too.
Time for my exercises.

Hi all,
Finally got on this board on a computer to change my picture. The avatar was creepy.
Saturday is the anniversary of William's passing. Hard to believe it has been 6 years. We're heading to the mountains. I remember how my life was at such a crossroads back then in general, juggling several part time and freelance gigs.
JoJo, I am planning to start a new project this weekend. I'm glad you like the KnitPicks site! Could you crochet something for your friend?

Hi!
Well, Wed night we had cancellations and only had 2 tables, 5 people total. We were supposed to have 15. Then with the report of snow I got an email from the school that it will be closed today. But it ended up that we missed the worst of the snow, only a couple of inches and for most of the day it was fine.
It was nice to have an unexpected day off. These long Tues-Thurs is starting to wear on me. I did have a relaxing day and worked on my internship paper and went to the gym.
Jojo, hope your leg stopped hurting yesterday. What did you end up buying for DDIL's sister? Glad you got your rodeo tickets in time.
Joan, it is great that you are meeting such a good group of women at the gym. Yes, the past couple of years the winters have been mild. We'll see what the rest of this season has in store for us.
Holly, your brother will be in my thoughts. That was such a chilling day for us on your behalf.
Well, some of SO's work is being displayed at a temporary gallery. This is the exhibit where he thought the space was too small and bowed out of being one of 3 artists. Apparently one of the other 2 had a conflict and SO agreed to be the second artist. The opening is tomorrow! He's not happy with the space and he 's not crazy about the works that the curator chose and how it is being displayed. He feels that the other artist's work is being more advantagously displayed so he's not inviting people to this event. However, I'm looking forward to seeing his work displayed in a gallery environment and not leaning against a wall in our house!

Holly I have crocheted her something (Hat, gloves, scarf set) before so thought I would buy her some clothes this time.
Sue - we went to get our inspections and car tags today but decided to go to Kohls tomorrow for the gift. Glad that the snow was not what was expected.
Did do my exercises today!
Today is National Pizza day; so made pizza for tonight!
Wt. back up to 127 - ugh. Would like to see the 125 again!
