Hope you are recovered, Sue!
Both cats are sacked out in the sunny window---our backyard faces south so winter they get warm sun to lie around in and they love it in the mornings. They get so hot that their fur is hot to touch!
Finished my BC book last night---read about 600 pages in the last two days---my eyes! About ten are coming tonight so should be fun---meeting at a house near here so an easy drive for a change.
Made salmon (just baked it with dill and salt and pepper) last night and made a really good baby kale salad from the garden---avocado, red onion, red pepper and a few blueberries with a scisillian lemon balsamic drizzle and a tiny bit of blood orange infused olive oil---I cut a ton of baby kale and it is so tasty and tender---I really need to get out an garden and plant some more things but have been so busy reading!
No Valentine's Day stuff here other than the red heart on my driver's license indicating I am an organ downer!! LOL

Hi everyone! Had a gret at birthday. DDIL cooked dinner for me and they gave me a tulip plant. DDS and DDIL in Houston sent me multi colored roses! Beautiful!
Valentines DH took me to Olive Garden. We got there early to avoid all the traffic. For us old people that is important. A wonderful night out.
I have finished my sweater and wore it today. It is a winter sweatter with long sleeves so want to be sure to get to wear it some before it is too warm. Almost too late in the season now.
Exercises done! Did not do them on the weekend = too busy.
Today received my electric Wolfgang Puck spiralizer. So excited. Mad a Veggie Frittata tonight using it. Made with carrots, potatoes, onions, zuchinni, yellow squash - all put through the machine and then eggs poured over it and cheese sprinkled on that and baked. Soooooo good. and easy! I love the spiralizer! Can't wait to use it more.
Weather was very pleasant here today but the wind was up - March winds coming early.
I am watching "Victoria" on PBS on Sunday nights and it is so good. I had no idea about so much of her reign. I remembered that she and Albert were very much in love but that was about all. It is a great series!

Hi!
Week 6 of school almost over! Tuesday was tough between intern and prepping food for the school restaurant, got home at 10:30. Then I need a few hours to wind down.
Yesterday in Dessert/Plating class, my team made chocolate pot de creme, tea cookies, and we tempered chocolate to make chocolate bowls and cigarettes. Tempering chocolate is a pain.
Last night at the school restaurant we only had 7 covers. A table of 9 cancelled, thank goodness! Chef told me people loved my wahoo with edamame puree and dashi and my crepe stuffed with mushrooms duxelles with lobster sauce and lobster garnish. I know my flavors are very good. Last week I watched the guy doing these entrees and everything he did seemed overcooked and dried out - just lack of finesse.
Joan, the baby kale sounds delicious! SO and I never do anything for Valentine's Day either. How did the ultrasound go?
Jojo, glad you had a good birthday and Valentine's Day! I bought a small spiralizer last quarter for school so that I could use it for garnishes for my dishes.
Today we plate up the desserts that we made yesterday. Tonight I think we are expecdting about 15 people at the restaurant, but who knows, there could be cancellations or additions.
Oh, this morning I was 118.7! One thing that is good with all the running around between interning and school.

Wow, awesome on the weight, Sue---meanwhile there's me! I am thinking I'll go back to WW next week---on Friday mornings---cannot tomorrow but I'm just not holding myself accountable.
Results from ultrasound on March 2.
Had a good book club meeting last night and decided to do Nightingale for March which 3 people have already read---I bought it a long time ago on ipad so am set. For April we are doing Echo---a YA book that I bought for DGD12 last summer and brought home with me after New Year's so I am going to read it first (started this morning and hooked after a couple pages) so that I can share it with others as it is only available in hardcopy and we have a couple people who won't buy a book no matter what. Our library still does not have it---slow to get new books I guess---and long waiting list on ebooks.
I have yoga today and then a facial at 1. Then plan to do some yardwork---I desparately need to plant seeds--peas and new arugula and onions.
Three people in book club are retiring in June---thank goodness---maybe then we will have more people willing to host in their homes---it's back at my house for March---BF and I do most of the hosting.
We have one more episode of The Crown to watch and then I am starting on Victoria---have been DVR'ing it all along. I heard it was very good.
Yesterday I had to use my inhaler 3 times---very unusual---must be something in the air that I am really reacting to---it's been so warm---lots of things blooming. Especially trees.
Sue, congrats on the compliment from the chef---seafood is hard to cook---just slightly overdone and it's rubbery or super dry---since I've finally accepted that fact, I like home cooked fish so much better!

Hi all,
Not much to report. Finally on the tail end of this sinus thing.
Sue, congrats on the weight! Sounds like cardio is your thing.
JoJo, glad you had a nice Valentine's Day.
Joan, I will have to check that book out. I like YA lit. There's a series called the Lunar Chronicles that I really like.

Happy Friday everyone!
So glad week over. The hours are really starting to wear on me. I was cranky last night with chef telling me what to do, it is my first week on entrees and she was not there for Wed night service (we had a substitute chef), so last night was the first time she was there to tell us exactly what to do - the substitute chef kind of just let us do whatever. Plus, we had to go over the new menu starting next week after dinner service and I didn't get home until 10:30.
We had 15 people last night, there was a table of 9 - that was something that had to be coordinated with the other person doing entrees so that we get the food out at the same time.
Joan, hope your breathing is better today
Hi Jojo!
Holly, glad you're feeling better.
I think being on my feet a lot is helping with weightloss, but it's also that I'm eating a little less too. Coming home late at night, I usually make myself a sandwich and then no late night snacking.

Sorry to hear that Holly and Joan have had health problems. I am finally healthy after all my issues around Christmas.
Sue - you are having hard times at school(your internship) lately. Hope it lets up soon and you can get back to enjoying your time there.
We had DGS4 today - tonight went to a movie "Passengers". Was futuristic and good.
Did get the yard blown off (at least that is the back) today. Will do the front tomorrow.
Wt. is back to 125 and I feel so much better. All my clothes fit me better. Amazing how much 2 lbs. can make.
I made zuchinni zoodles last night that is did with the spiralizer, and used it for pasta with a tomato sauce. They suggest that you use half regular pasta if you have never eaten the zoodles as pasta before and then introduce more of the zoodles and less of the pasta over time. DH and I both really liked it.

Good Morning all you Goddesses! It is pouring rain here! So disappointed! All the weathermen have talked about lately is what a great weekend we would be having here with temps up to 75. It doesn't do any good to have the warm weather with it pouring rain! They didn't say a thing about the rain.
Exercises done but looks like I will have to walk in the house today unless it clears up a lot. - so p Had all kinds of yard activities planned - bummer.
Will plan a dinner with a dish using the spiralizer. Trying out all the recipes and really enjoying it. Sue, do you use yours for more than garnishes? Is your electric? - mine is.
Sent my sister's SO a hummingbird feeder for his birthday. Will probably eventually buy me one. . Did a lot of reading up on reviews of different types and using them. They seem so fun and interesting. I love to see little hummingbirds - so pretty

Hi!
Been busy doing homework. Have to come up with recipes for the new menu we are doing for the school restaurant. The menu was developed by a guy doing advanced a la carte in my class, so his tasks are more advanced than the rest of the class's.
Jojo, sorry for the rain and your plans falling apart. It is a sunny day here. Great that your weight came back down again! My spirilizer is small and not electric, I just used it for garnish for my classes.
A guy who used to work in my office and now working in NYC texted SO today, he's coming for tonight for drinks and then we'll go out to a neighborhood dinner. He's meeting another guy afterwards and I guess staying with him over night.
Going to the gym soon.
Tomorrow is 8 hrs internship.

Sue - sounds like your day was calmer today!
Tonight I made a Greek salad with spiralized carrots and cucumbers. Also made potato latkes using the spiralizer for the potatoes and the onions. So much fun! The latkes especially were good. The down side of it is that there is a lot of waste with the the little mushroom shaped leftovers of the veggies. I can use the carrots, cucumbars and such in our smoothies but things like the potatoes and onions, I don't have use for. Anyway had fun preparing dinner.
Has rained and been ucky here all day. My sister called me from Greensboro and said that the rain has now reached them.

Hi all,
I got a delivery from HelloFresh today, so I made pork wontons for lunch. They turned out pretty well.
Also went to a LuLaRoe pop up. I think those clothes are meant more for women who are taller or have a bigger bust. They just don't fit well on me because they hang so loosely.
Did the bike this morning, had headphones on, and got so lost in thought that I did an hour without realizing it! My brain has been on overdrive lately.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

JoAnne, it sounds as though you are loving your new kitchen tool. Cruise BF's bought an Instapot and they like you, have been using it a lot---the other day they made corned beef very quickly in it.
I just made lunch for myself---so yummy---a quinoa, egg white, avocado, Canadian bacon bowl---just one small slice of bacon cut up and warmed up---used red quinoa and just barely took it to cooked level---then warmed it up in the pan next to the egg and other things---tasted so yummy! There is a little Daily Kitchen restaurant not far from here that we walk to for breakfast occasionally that serves this so decided to make my own---even better than theirs as I love red quinoa better. Made oatmeal with blueberries this morning for breakfast.
DH and I walked for about 50 minutes this morning and will do a bit longer tomorrow-=--gyms are all closed for P. DAy tomorrow. Tonight we see Finding Neverland---am sure I will like it.
Holly, your cake looked so yummy on FB!
Didn't ever post yesterday-=--went to gym and then when I got home, BF and her DH were here---she still didn't have a lite dress she liked for her MX trip (tomorrow) so I offered to leave her DH here with mine and go with her to my favorite store, Steinmart---which is near my house. I had her try on about 15 things---one was so fabulous---got her to buy it---was only 49$--but really made her look so good---she thinks she is fat but isn't (BMI of 24) she just has a bigger bum than her top---but not huge---so I tried to talk to her about dressing for her shape---she tends to dress like she is fat and then looks fatter and wonders why. She has a skinny waist and nice slender arms that I would kill for! When we got back she modeled it for the DH's and both said it was the best she ever looked so it was a very successful trip.
I also loaned her a skirt of mine and a pair of sandals---the sandals look as tho they were custom made for the dress! They are going with a group of 35---her brother's family and theirs---this is the trip she's always wanted to do with all her kids and GK's. It's her brother's 75th birthday and 50th anniversary celebration. Her brother and sister in law offered us an invite to go but we turned it down---really don't want to distract from BF's trip with her family and I know our being there would. Plus, honestly, it's a few too many people for me to take a week long trip with!!
Holly, I am nearly finished with Echo---the YA book I told you about---OMG, it's really good! I couldn't get to sleep 'last night so got up and read for two hours.
Sue, I hope you are recuperated from a very intense week!
This morning I cleaned out the bottom freezer of our fridge---DH had not completely shut the drawer one night a few days ago and it caused a lot of frostiness---which was good---forced me to do something I've been putting off---wow, it looks so good again! We played cards last night with BF's at their house---I won the game for a change---doesn't happen often so that was kind of fun!
Feeling thankful for DH---he and I still have such a nice relationship---when I am around some other couples, I really appreciate him---he never tells a story about me to amuse others unless it is a positive one, never gets crazy competitive in card games like BF's DH who drives me crazy with nasty competitiveness toward his DW. And he puts her down in ways that I find irritating---like little beefs about their personal relationship---my X used to pull stuff like that and it's so hurtful. Every once in a while he gets a little testy about some relatively stupid thing at home---but usually I can figure out where the angst is coming from---and it's usually because of some dumb little thing that he wasn't completely open about his feelings and then he overreacts --- but he now knows he does that---and so do I so usually I can say, I think you must be bugged about something else cause I know this is not a big deal we are talking about here. Just seems as tho every year without alcohol gets better! 5 1/2 years on Valentines' Day this year!! That's how long it's been since I had a drink as well!
