This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it!!

Good morning DotRen, gee on the coffee! I love breakfast, but that would have made me mad cj59, WTG making it through a month!! September 1 is here. I hope you are pleased with your WI. Waving to all I'm doing so, so on the new plan. I eat 3 of their meals and then have 8 oz of protein (that I split between lunch and dinner) and 4 cups of veggies. No fruit right now. I get a little hungry at night. I usually eat by the clock. I am trying to stop that. I need to move more (cardio) and really focus on stuff. I too get tired of dieting, but I need to get over that because I am so heavy. Have a great weekend! Can't believe it is September already.

Hello Everyone - Welcome to the new month sunrose - I'm glad you are hanging in there with the new plan, I wish you success on it DotRen - I'm guessing that's a dog you're talking about Well, I did weigh in this morning and I'm not really sure how I feel about the number on the scale. I'm 10 pounds over what I was on July 1st, so I can only imagine what I weighed on August 1st I've always gained weight very quickly, so I wouldn't be surprised if I was 25 pounds or more heavier back then. I guess now I'm seeing the downside to not weighing myself because I can't really know whether my eating this past month was successful at my losing weight, but I'm sure it probably was. I don't regret not weighing in though because I think seeing I was 20 or more pounds over where I was would have set me off on more overeating. I know none of our weight loss struggles are easy but I sure wish it wasn't so much work. I had hoped that this time I wouldn't have this struggle or regaining and losing but I do have it and hopefully I can get back to my goal weight and learn to maintain that weight. I am happy that I did 31 days of eating on track and I hope to do 30 days this month. I will weigh in each week again because I need to get a handle on how many calories I can eat each day. I could be restricting myself so much that my body is trying to hold onto the weight. If that's the case I might need to add some calories to several days a week to kick start my metabolism. Thanks for all the support I get here, I appreciate it

Yes, our wonderful, 110 pound black Lab mix. Fortunately he loves to be bathed and groomed. We usually take him to the groomer down the street (literally!) because she does his nail grind, too. He actually puts his feet up for her so she can do it lol.

Good morning
cj59, it sounds like you had a successful month! I am so attached to my scale. I should try weighing once a week. So proud of you!
DotRen, that's a big doggie and so cute regarding the nails. I have a 67 pound yellow lab mix. I get her nails grind too.
Off to my WW meeting. I have not been for 2 weeks. I think the scale will be ugly. Oh well.....

Hello Everyone
DotRen and sunrose - I'm happy you have dogs in your life, I know they are great companions. I haven't had one for years, but I love the last one I had.
sunrose - Hope things were good at the scale.
I have a love/hate relationship with the scale. I love it when I see a number that makes me happy and hate it when it's a bad number that I see
I may try weighing myself every day this month, a big switch from not weighing at all. As much as I wish the future with my weight loss/maintenance would be a steady road, I think it's more likely going to require me to make changes all the time to stay on track. I'm not one who likes change, so it's a challenge for me, but I need to accept it if I want to keep all that weight off.
Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans.

Good morning
cj59, I went about 4 years without a dog. I am so glad I got my Maddie. I said I would try weighing once a week, but I forgot and keep getting on it in the morning. Someone mentioned how they've never been able to keep the weight off. That's me too. It is a constant battle, but one that can be won! You are doing great.
Waving to all
Off to walk my doggie. It is so hot here again today.

Good morning! We had another "pound puppy" for 13 years before this one. She had diabetes later in life, but she passed during a surgery for an infection (I am not sure what it was called) on her scalp that was there for years but started to "grow". The vet was in tears when she called, she said she (Shasta, our girl) did great through the surgery then, when they started to bring her out, her heart just stopped. They tried everything, but she was gone. I thought I didn't want another dog, but we went to the SPCA and picked out Murray a week later. He's so totally different, he's more "dog" than Shasta ever was lol.

Good morning
DotRen, that's sad about Shasta. So loving of you to help another dog out. I got my dog from the Animal Shelter. So sad to go in there and so many dogs/cats/rabbits, etc. need homes. I have a rabbit (Sunny) that we got at the Animal Shelter. She is so sweet.
I hope everyone is doing well. So stinking hot here. Off to run errands.

Hello Everyone
DotRen - I'm sorry to hear how your lost your pet, but glad you have another one to love.
sunrose - I've always thought that if I did get another pet, I'd want a rescue pet since there are so many out there that need homes.
It's so hot here too, I didn't feel like posting yesterday. I can't wait for December
I'm still sticking to my plan and not overeating. I did measure myself today and I can I'm losing some inches, so that's a relief. For me that's almost more important than the number on the scale. I'd just like to fit comfortably in all the new clothes I've bought over the last year.
Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans.

Just checking in for the day and hoping that everyone is doing well. I decided to stop weighing everyday, I just can't do it and not get upset or stressed. I'm someone that needs to see some kind of progress every time I weigh and when the number stays the same when I'm working so hard, I just feel defeated. So I'll go back to weekly weigh-ins. I'm a little frustrated today because I feel like what I'm doing isn't working. But I don't know what I can do differently, here are some of the things I do each day: - Eating around 1200-1300 calories a day - Get in at least 60 minutes of walking and over 10,000 steps on my Fitbit - Drink 8+ glasses of water a day - Always have at least 4-5 servings of fruits and vegetables - Track all my food - Weigh and measure foods that I need to - Limiting sugar and junk foods I've also been doing an Intermittent Eating. I eat during an 8 hour period each day and don't eat during the other 16 hours. I don't always do this deliberately, it's just that I've never been a morning eater so it's been easier for me just to start eating later in the day. Can anyone here see something that might be causing me problems or something else I can be doing? I've thought about trying to have 2 higher calorie days a weeks, since maybe I'm not eating enough? When I was losing weight I did "cycle" my days like that and it really helped me, since I looked forward to the higher calorie days to have more food. But I might not really need to do that anymore. Thanks for any input anyone has. Hope you are all doing well on your plans

Good morning
cj59, the only thing I can think of is to eat breakfast. I don't know if it is still true, they are always changing the guidelines, but I've heard it sets your metabolism for the day??? I don't know if I mentioned it here or not, but I tried the Wendy Plan one time and it varied your points every day. I lost 25 pounds doing that. Other than that I think you are doing all the right things.
Waving to all
So hot here, I just walked my dog real quick. Headed out to run an errand. I hope everyone has a great day!

cj59 , I did the Johnson Up Day Down Day diet for a while and lost a lot of weight. I don't remember why I stopped lol. The basics: you eat 500 calories a day* every other day, and eat around 2000-2200 calories the opposite days. It supposedly activates the Ghrelin and Leptin hormones, and I found I had almost zero appetite on my "up" days lol. But you have to eat on those days regardless of appetite. Here are a couple of links describing it better: juddd.livejournal.com/44295.htmlwww.3fatchicks.com/alternate-day-diet-by-dr-james-johnson/The official site doesn't work anymore, but the calculations really are pretty much 500/2000-2200 (depends on your activity level and weight: if you need to lose more than 50 pounds, 2200 calories; less than 50 then 2000. My personal experience was that I could eat up to 800 calories on the "down" days and still lose easily. For me, protein on those days was key -and not shakes because they were never very filing or satisfying. Tuna and eggs filled a lot of the calories, then salads -lots of greens lol.

sunrose and DotRen - thanks so much for your thoughts and suggestions I did use the Wendy method when I was very heavy and it helped me lose weight. I may need to try something like that again. Also maybe I am sabotaging my weight loss by waiting so late in the day to eat. I was never an early morning eater, but I could try eating mid-morning. I wouldn't mind so much if this is what I had to do to maintain my goal weight, but this up and down all the time and then how hard it is each time to lose what I've gained back it wearing me out Hopefully I can find a way to stay steady. I used to read those forums at 3FatChicks all the time, I need to check them out again. Hope everyone is doing well on their plans
