That's incredible that they took money from FEMA for ICE. Not only do we have a catastrophic storm bearing down on us now, but from what I read this is likely to be one of several this season. But, at least the wealthy got a big tax break! I'm sure all those people who won't be able to get timely help from FEMA when they need it will feel their sacrifice is worth it so that people like Jared and Ivanka can have a tax break. And can you believe how this ? (there's not even a word that can adequately describe him) keeps bragging about the Puerto Rican response even as the death toll continues to rise there. But, of course, he's explained to us that his administration did a wonderful job. The fault for any problem lies solely with the Puerto Rican people for being poor, for letting Puerto Rico be an island, and on their mayor because she is critical of the JA. I guess some people just don't know how to properly appreciate paper towels.

Whoa! Something smells fishy there. Gee, doesn't everyone accumulate large debt by buying baseball tickets for their friends? (Rolling my eyes almost crosseyed here) LOL
Who are these people? Not a lifestyle I am familiar with, and you know what? Not one I would want to be familiar with either.

Mobsters, thugs, goons, liars, cheats, tricksters, deceivers, swindlers, con artist, and criminals. That's who. Liars love to take oaths! These people are so dirty they make the swamp look like a health spa.

The diversion of funds, once again shows how unprepared this Administration is for any kind of disaster. We have an administration?

There is no end to the crassness and just plain evil of this POS in the White House. He has no respect for anyone or anything, and ONLY cares about himself. There are simply no words to describe my utter disgust with him and his entire administration. I can only hope that somewhere down the road each and everyone of them will get their "just reward." If so, it won't be a pretty sight. Surely evil can not flourish forever without some retribution to bring the world back into balance. But in the meantime, the US is having to pay a very high price, and that price may get even steeper. The more I read about this POS the more he truly does remind me of Hitler and what happened in Germany. Until he came into power, I naively believed that what happened in Germany was unique and that it could never happen here. Boy was I wrong! It could happen here. Unless those on the right wake up and start working diligently against him, unless independents rise up in mass, it most definitely could happen here. We are not special after all.

Just heard from the Director of ABLE (Aquiring the Basics for Living & Employment) that ND & on the Federal level there will be possible changes coming for Medicaid & other Regulations to shut down "workshops" ( dark age term that uniformed officials call them) like ABLE. So, makes one wonder, what the heck Mentally & Physically Disabled people are suppose to do. End up in institutions like those of days gone by. It is so disheartening to see those in power taking away rights from those who need it the most & send them back to the Dark Ages. So, totally, agree with Joyce about Germany & how it could happen here. I think its already starting right under our noses & Woodward was right, we all better wake up.

Yes, all the folks in hospitals and nursing homes in Puerto Rico died from old age, not from the power being out.

@lka5, Linda, I am so very sorry to hear that about ABLE. I pray that Jason's workshop will not be closed. I know that gives him a lot of satisfaction and comfort, a feeling of being able to contribute. That would be insane to cut those programs out, but sanity is not something you can associate with this administration. Please keep us posted about this. I too am concerned about Medicaid. I know more cuts are supposed to be coming. For now my mom and dad are still private pay, but what happens if Medicaid denies them once their funds run out. Right now I (they) are paying around $14,000 per month, and TN is cheaper than many states. When their money runs out, and we have to apply for Medicaid I just pray it will be there. I took care of them myself for 6 years, but their needs are at such a point now that is no longer possible. They are both totally dependent for all aspects of life. Scary!! Republicans who think such programs should be cut, I bet you'd think a lot differently if you were in the shoes of those in need of these programs.

Hopefully, Joyce, its not imminent, but evidently its being discussed state wide & nationally. So, it would affect these types of centers all over the country. I think, if it does come to pass where a state legislature tries to close down these centers, there will be a huge uprising. If you remember, it was the ARC ( Association for Retarded Citizens ...I hate the R word & ARC really needs to change that) that filed suit against the state of ND for closing institutions & forcing the state to open group homes & centers like ABLE. It was the first lawsuit of its kind I believe. Jason has fully benefited from these programs, over the years, for which I'm thankful. I hope those parents & advocates of younger kids have the energy & will to fight this because it will really affect their kid's future. As for Medicaid & Nursing Home, boy, I hear you there. Been there done that with my Mom, too. I think most people live in a bubble about Nursing Home cost & how it can take everything you own & more. ITs unreal, the cost & most people think Medicaid will just pay for it. Which it won't until you hand over everything you own & are broke will it kick in. Nursing Home Insurance is not what it was when my Mom bought it decades ago. It covered a lot & was cheaper than it is now. Not many can afford good NH Insurance these days.
So, Why??? did Diane Feinstein wait so long to turn over the confidential info she has on Kavanaugh to the FBI. It supposedly involves a woman & inappropriate behavior. I see the hearing to confirm has been postponed a week. I hope that is a good sign.

Until he came into power, I naively believed that what happened in Germany was unique and that it could never happen here. Boy was I wrong! I've been concerned for a while about "it happening here" and I've said so on a political chat room that no longer exists. I was even asked to leave the board by a few posters if I didn't like it. I never said I didn't like it here. I am an American and proud to be one. I simply had a different way of seeing things. Besides, I was friendly with the moderator who was also from NY and she reminded them all views were welcome. They called Hitler a monster, a thug, a sub human, a mad man, and a few other names I can't remember right now. I said while he was all those things, he was also a human being just like me and just like them, and all human beings are capable of becoming inhumane monsters, even here in the United States! We are not immune. Which is quite obvious by the mad man sitting in the Oval Office and his faithful supporters blind to his insanity! There were people in Germany who, while shocked by Hitler's insanity, still gave him credit by saying, "Well, he did do a few good things for Germany." He loved his dogs too. WTH does that have to do with the price of eggs? It can, and if we don't stand up against insanity, it most certainly WILL happen here. It's already started. All that's needed is a scapegoat. Immigrants, Gays, Democrats, The Press, Reason, Common Sense, Intellect, Racism, homophobia, and fearful angry Nazi's all fit the bill. Yes! I can happen anywhere! Even here.

If you remember, it was the ARC ( Association for Retarded Citizens ...I hate the R word & ARC really needs to change that) I hate that word too! I've hated it since I was a child. Are they open for suggestions? How about APL? Sounds like apple. Association for People with Limitations.

Manafort is entering a guilty plea. Wonder what that means as far as the plea deal he's negotiated with Mueller? I hope it means bad news for the JA! I expect the JA is celebrating the storm in NC taking up so much of the news coverage right now rather than the focus all being on Manafort/Mueller. Although he can't stand to be out of the spotlight, so he'll send out some stupid tweets to try and get the focus back onto him. He can't help himself.
