We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

Donald Trump, Jr. has weighed in on the Brett Kavanaugh hearing, telling DailyMailTV that he’s more afraid for his sons right now than for his daughters. “I’ve got boys, and I’ve got girls. When I see what’s going on right now, it’s scary,” President Donald Trump’s eldest son said in an interview published Monday. “People who are real victims of these things,” he added, are diminished “when it is so obviously political in cases like this.”.......Huff Post
So, Jr. feels like Daddy, no surprise of course, that the man is the victim not the woman. One would think the the obvious answer to the question posed to him would have been that he is concerned for both his sons & daughters. But then he is JA's son. Really disgusting when you really think of his answer.

Same with his Jewish/racist comment a few weeks ago. How you're raised marks how you are. You can change it, sure, but you have to A: want to; and B: know that it's wrong to begin with. Because he is immersed in it, and on top of that has "yes men" surrounding him, he probably will never see how awful that kind of mind-set is. Unless (God forbid -and I mean that no matter how much I dislike him) something bad happens to his family/kid(s) to change his view.

Just saying hello . . . haven't heard or read any news today. Had to go to my hometown about an hour away to take care of some banking for my mom and dad. Being old and sick doesn't come cheap.
Don Jr. is truly disgusting. He tries hard to live "down" to his father's image. I never hear much about Eric. And Jared and Ivanka have been staying very quiet lately.

Whether or not we ever know the absolute truth concerning Dr Ford and Kavanaugh, we do know that multiple people have come forward and said that Kavanaugh blatantly lied in front of the committee about his drinking habits. That he drank heavily, that he was a sloppy drunk, and that he became belligerent when he was drinking. So regardless of the sexual assault we do know he perjured himself under oath about the drinking. That in itself should be enough to keep you from being a judge much less a judge on the Supreme Court. But evidently it doesn't matter. So if I am ever called to testify under oath for any reason, does that mean the oath is really just a joke and I don't actually need to be truthful? Not likely! While the rest of us would be expected to play by the rules. Tell the truth if we swear to do so. Kavanaugh can lie with impunity.

Seems Kavanaugh is meddling behind the scene about Debbie Ramirez . Sending emails around to friends of his & Ramirez to deny he was friends with her & they were in the same circle who partied together. Evidently he did this even before the NYT report came out. One person receiving these emails has been trying to contact FBI. W/o much luck. They finally hired a lawyer . NBC news broke the story.

Raise your sons the opposite of the way you were raised. Teach them to respect women and girls and keep their hands to themselves. And most important ignore what grandpa says and does. They should then have no problems.

Heck swear you never drank anything but mothers milk and Holy Water. The guy is a scumbag. And of course Mr. Trump loves him!

Joyce I am really glad you and your dad had that talk, I pray it gave you both comfort for the coming days.
Rambling thoughts on another subject: I read where Elizabeth Warren may be considering a run for the Presidency. My advice to her, with all due respect is don't, she could not handle McConnell no way could she handle Trump.
AND
Do you think Flake's actions will have some impact on the midterms?

I agree that I don't think this is the time for Elizabeth Warren. I don't really know who the best choice would be at this point. Perhaps we need a fresh, new face. Whoever runs against the JA it is going to be dirty and ugly. The worst we've ever seen.
If the radicals don't get Kavanaugh, it is going to energize them. If they do get Kavanaugh, hopefully it will energize the Democrats. But it could make a lot of people just give up and stay home. People are very discouraged, and I can't blame them. It is hard not to be.

I’m hoping no one will have to run against JA in 2020. I’m hoping Mueller finds enough to either get JA impeached or indicted.
I also hope Joe Biden does not run. I like the guy, but his time has passed. I think E. Warren is more effective in the Senate. I like Amy Klobocher. I did hear report she is thinking of running. Kamilla Harriscould handle JA but I think she would turn some people off. Especially men. I do like her tho. The former Governor of LA, Mitch Landreau I think is thinking of running. He is a Dem, right? I’m not a big fan of Cory Booker after his last speech last week on the Judicial Committee....Yawn!...Maybe if JA survives Mueller, the Rep will pick someone else to run in 2020. Surely there must be some who want the nomination in the Republican Party.

How on earth did it get to be October already?! We'll be in the mid-terms before we can blink. I so hope those will really make a difference. Linda, from your lips to God's ears about the JA being gone before 2020. I also really hope Biden does not try to make another run. I like the guy, but his time is definitely past. He needs to stay on the sidelines and lend his experience and expertise to helping someone new. I like Amy Klobuchar too, and I also like Kamala Harris but I think it might be more difficult for her to win. We really need someone who can win this time around. What ever became of Julian Castro who was the mayor of San Antonio and then served in Obama's cabinet? I thought he was an up and coming star for awhile, however, the fact that he served in Obama's cabinet might be a big detriment to him. There must be someone out there who has a "winner" sign flashing over them. I don't think it needs to be anyone from the "old guard." They all have too much baggage. But I do want someone with government experience. We can clearly see where no experience has gotten us, although I admit that using the JA as a yardstick is not really fair as he's a total aberration all the way around. More and more about Kavanaugh lying under oath keeps coming out. Do you think the JA and the Rs will still stick by him no matter what, or will they move on to the next in line? A conservative is going on the court, but I would like for it to at least be someone who doesn't lie under oath to say nothing of assaulting women.

I think the Republicans will stick with Kavanaugh to the very end. Only because, they know JA base will get upset, riled up & come out swinging. They know Kavanaugh is flawed, but anything to appease JA supporters is worth putting Kavanugh thru the meat grinder. If anyone is destroying Kavanaugh's reputation, it's Kavanaugh & the Republicans, not the Democrats. His true self came out at the hearings. Can't put that tantrum back in the bottle. He was in control of how he would conduct himself at the hearing. He chose to go on the attack. It wasn't about defending his honor, it was true partisanship coming out.

I agree that Kavanaugh showed his true self at the hearing, and that all by itself showed that he does not have the temperament to sit on the Court. He was a train wreck! God help anyone being judged by him if there is something he doesn't like about you regardless of your legal argument. I think Kavanaugh calculated that entire performance to play solely to the JA and the JA followers. That's exactly the kind of thing they love, except for the crying. That was really over the top.
