I love George Takei! He's 81 and his mind is still sharp. He looks damn good too! Same goes for Nichelle Nichols who is 85. Good things happen to people who "go where no man has gone before." lol.

I like him too, Pat, and I loved the original StarTrek. There are so many subtle and sometimes not so subtle messages woven into all their plots. I wish we could tell Scotty to beam up the JA and dump him on the dark side of the moon, but even that might still be too close for comfort. LOL

DT's response to the latest shooting: armed guards in houses of worship and bring the death penalty "in vogue". Help me...

Heading out for early voting this morning. Hoping there are a LOT of people doing the same We (myself, dh and dd) voted on Monday. There was a line when we got there, and a line when we left. Early voting numbers for a midterm are way high, I think I heard they have surpassed early voting numbers for the 2016 presidential election. In my state the Democrats outnumber the Republicans in early voting.

DT's response to the latest shooting: armed guards in houses of worship and bring the death penalty "in vogue". Help me... I saw that. What is wrong with the man? Don't answer, that was purely a rhetorical question.

3-4 Police officers were wounded by suspect when confronting him. A security guard would probaly have been killed. So, JA, has another dumb response to a shooting. No surprise there. For him, it’s never about gun control, the NRA, etc. He whines about the length of time for death penalty cases. Of course, forgetting the fact that many are eventually found innocent over the years it takes for appeals.
Donnie Jr must not listen to daddy or daddy just winked at him when he was reading TelePromter speech about civility. Last night Jr called MT Senator a piece of garbage.

I voted and there were quite a few people there. One of the ladies helping was one of my sons (favorite) former teachers, so it was nice to chat with her while waiting. She said they were swamped with people earlier in the day, and it's been like that since they opened last week.

Amyrs- Welcome to our thread. We have been in Milwaukee for weddings and meetings and one time we were there took a ride out to your fair city. Madison is lovely.
Agree the shootings in Squirrel Hill are beyond sicking. We think it can't get any worse and then the next morning it does.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to keep an eye on a person who has 21 guns registered in their name. IMO they are either getting ready for the zombie apocalypse or planning something horrible in the real world.

Good morning! The horror just keeps growing, until we become almost numb to it. We can't let that happen though, so it's good to read about heavy early voter turnouts. I want DH and I to go vote tomorrow. I'm afraid to put it off as I never know what the family situation here may be, and I don't want to take a chance on not being able to vote by putting it off until the last minute. This vote is too important! Of course here in TN my vote doesn't usually count for a lot, but at least I feel like it makes a statement. There's beautiful sunshine out the window, and that is looking good. I had such a good day yesterday. First I went with DD and family to Memphis to watch a scrimmage for DGS's fifth grade robotics club. That was really interesting, and it's amazing to watch these kids build and program their robots. Afterwards I went with DD to Missouri to pick up the rescue dog they got as a surprise for the kids. Wow! That rescue place was on the back side of nowhere so I'm glad I was with DD and she wasn't going there alone. But, the puppy they got was absolutely the cutest thing you've ever seen. She's a Coton de Tulear/Shih Tzu mix and just precious. I'm not normally an animal person--don't dislike them or anything like that, just not one that is usually especially attracted to them (forgive me please, Pat! ), but this puppy is precious. Of course, the kids were over the moon excited when we finally got back with her last night. So it was a happy day all around. With so much hatred, violence, and sadness in the world all around us it felt really good just to have a happy day, and see the joy on the DGKs faces. JA no matter how awful you are, you couldn't take that away.

So Texas machines are playing vote switch.. voting machine articleThe manufacturer is blaming "user error" but it is way too widespread and consistent, IMO - the machines are messed up. I will be glad when this election is over. I'm sick of political calls and texts and commercials.
