I do respect Senator Murkowsky. She said she's voting no not because she doesn't believe that Kavanaugh is a good man because she thinks he is, but because she believes he is not the right man for the court at this time. That the institution and the faith of the people in the fairness of that institution is more important than any one man. That I can respect. I hope she doesn't fold too.

apple.news/A7R3Ogs2mT-2I4XSWIvbL2gThis is abit long but so very interesting. & very scary to realize the comparisons in this article about how Democracy can be destroyed right before our eyes because of McConnell & the Republican Party. My Grandson sent me the link. He just turned 18 & will be voting in his first election in Nov.

Linda, that's a chilling article. A few years ago I would have said that could never happen here, but now I really do believe that it not only can but that it might. It is possible. It's scary and also frustrating because how do you stop it? It feels like warnings are being yelled into the wind and no one is hearing them.
Good for your grandson that he is paying attention to what is going on, and that he takes the time to read articles like this. He does give me hope. I hope we just don't completely screw up the world for our grandchildren before they have a chance to take over.

Would it be possible to get more out of touch with the world in which we live than Chuck Grassley? He seems to be living in a 1950s time warp. Too much work involved for Republican women to serve on the Judiciary Committee. Honestly! Why do Republican women keep accepting such blatant sexism? That really baffles me. And he doesn't even recognize that what he said is wrong because he really does still see the world that way.

Grassley is so darn clueless. When I read his statement yesterday, it was an OMG moment!...To think that he, Hatch & the other old white Republicans were a huge part of getting Kavanaugh to the SC, just makes me so angry! I don't understand it either! But when you see all those women sitting behind JA at rallies, cheering, fawning, laughing & smiling, it shows just how many are out there with this mindset that Grassley has!...Unreal!

Part of Debbie Ramirez statement before the vote today...Huff Post
Deborah Ramirez, the second woman to come forward last month to accuse Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, released a scathing statement on Saturday ahead of his confirmation vote.
“Thirty-five years ago, the other students in the room chose to laugh and look the other way as sexual violence was perpetrated on me by Brett Kavanaugh,” wrote Ramirez, who has accused Kavanaugh of thrusting his penis in her face at a party when they were both students at Yale University.
“As I watch many of the Senators speak and vote on the floor of the Senate I feel like I’m right back at Yale where half the room is laughing and looking the other way,” she continued. “Only this time, instead of drunk college kids, it is US Senators who are deliberately ignoring his behavior."...........
Boy, isn't that the truth...:-(

Those same old white men are also the very ones who would say, "well, she should have known better than to be at a party like that in the first place." The double standard is so ingrained into them it's as natural to them as breathing. But as you said, Linda, the really scary part is to see those yelling and cheering for the JA. Particularly the women, and those that bring their children with them. The old white men in Congress will eventually retire and disappear, but those at the rallies in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, those that are bringing their children with them to the rallies will perpetuate this far into the future. Do those women really not see themselves as having as much value as men, as being every bit as smart and capable as men? Do they really think of themselves as second class citizens? I think many of them do, and that actually is sad.

But we can't afford to feed the hungry or provide medical care for those who can't afford it.

Those women have been soooooo brainwashed or put down or beaten down they can't or won't think for themselves. Where is the self pride? I don't understand that kind of thinking. TRump the guy who has been conning people all his life in N.Y. found out how much easier the pickings are with the rubes outside the city. AND they fall for it. Self made man, my Aunt Tilly's starched frillies!

Waggle fingers we use to call them, point and call pig. Wait......I'm that age now..lol guess I was lucky not to be brought up with that mind set.

Just waving good morning! Busy week ahead here. If you haven't seen the SNL video about the celebration over Kavanaugh it's pretty funny. SNL has some very talented writers.
