Good morning! Let's see how far I can get with this before DGS wakes up.
Meg- it's always a good idea to get things checked out. YOu have been mentioning that you are fatigued for several weeks. As much as everyone hates waiting for a doctor appointment and bloodwork, I think we would all rest easier if we knew our Meg was getting the medical attention she needs. Hope that you can get the issue with your Nook resolved. For an avid book listener like you, that must be SOOOOO frustrating.
Ruth- yup your pride in your family comes through the computer ! I can see it!! Congrats to Dd on finishing her schooling and her college education. It's an even bigger accomplishment doing that with a family of her own as an adult learner. What a good example she has set for her kids! Ok the fingerless gloves do not sound too tough. Perhaps even a mediocre crochetter (like me!) will be able to figure it out.
Phyl- were you able to find your fabric online? Amazon and eBay sell lots of crafting supplies- including the discontinued items. No, I have never heard of a row by row quilt either, but it sure sounds interesting!
CJ- so glad you are enjoying the Lone Star quilt class. Nice that you are able to go right home and use what you just learned. Most quilt shops do just that, they expect you to purchase fabric from them. Of course then you do get to see other people's fabric selection- which sometimes is interesting- in both a good and bad way!
I have gotten minimal work done on the afghan. Let's see if I can manage to get this done on time for Saturday. Dh's mom is slowly shutting down....she seems very peaceful. I pray for her sake and Dh and his siblings that her struggle ends quickly and peacefully.
Oven repair man is due here this am! Yay!
Have a blessed day Ginny

I was over at my neighbors house this.(Sylvie's mom, dog we take care of) Friday at curling she fell and gashed her head open. missed her eye.8 stitches along left side of her head. 8 stitches in the top of her head. she tripped on a rug and hit the risers. she showed me a picture on her phone how they had her head wrapped like a mummy or turban type thing.

Phyl, I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbors accident. I'm glad she didn't have a concussion. I don't know how she avoided that since she had to have so many stitches.
Ginny, yes at this point we can only pray for a quick and discomfort free end to the struggle. God says in the Bible that he will send angels to take you along that path. Lets pray the angels come and get her soon and she rejoices with them.
Ginny, yes, my dd has had a lot of struggles along the way with an abusive husband added in for a time.Luckily she was smart enough to leave that situation.
Phyl, I do hope you find a great fabric you like.
Ginny, you're so right about some people's choice in fabrics...Some of the blocks you see online you just wonder why people would use those choices and others look so beautiful.
CJ I hope you're having a good day too and, as Ginny said, it's such a good idea to go home and work on what the class taught right away. It would definitely cement the info in my mind.
Meg, I have a friend that has to have frequent blood transfusions. They don't know why her HGB goes down but it does go very low. They're testing it more often now.One time her hgb was only 4.2. Normal for a woman is over 11. At 4.2 I wouldn't even be able to open my eyes I don't think. We had a patient that had to come in about once a month for blood transfusions. He had aplastic anemia I think. I finally talked him into having an implanted port put in because he had very bad veins. That port worked wonders for him.
And Ginny, thanks for starting us for another week. Again, I'm so glad that Meg told me about this thread.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well Meg - I'm another person that doesn't like football, so you're not alone. I hope you can get your blood checked to see if that is why you are tired. I also hope you can get your Nook problem fixed. Hopefully there were a lot of nice patterns in your search. Ginny - I'm glad to hear you MIL is peaceful now, maybe that will help to ease the pain of the loss for the family. Hope your oven got fixed. Phyl - Hope you can get the fabric if you like it. Your neighbors fall sounds scary, it's amazing how quickly things like that can happen. Ruth - I want to tell you how much I enjoy your changing avatars - the Valentine's bear is so cute! I worked on another of the diamonds for the Lone Star quilt today, and almost finished it, I'll get it done tomorrow and maybe start on another. It does take at least an hour and a half to put one together. I didn't get any Slow Stitching done yesterday, but maybe I can do some this week. I'd love to get some of my handwork done this year. I had lunch at Panda Express today with my second cousin. She lives near me and for years we didn't really have any contact, but over the last several years have been talking more and going out for shopping and lunch. It's nice to have family so close. Take care everyone!

CJ, these restaurants you mention make me want to check and see what new ones they've opened here. They're really expanding the town to the east and there are many new businesses over there.Since my dd is finished with school for now anyway, I could call her and see if she wants to "do" lunch. My dh dislikes eating out. And I probably won't go out either. I hate to go anywhere. I'll just keep having the kids over here. Yes it is great to have family close.

Hello Crafters Ginny - My sympathies to you and your husband for your loss. I'm glad that he has no regrets, those are tough to deal with when we lose family. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as you deal with arrangements for your MIL. Hope the weather warms up so your ice goes away. Ruth - Hope you do get to eat out some, it's nice not to have to always cook for ourselves. It's funny but over the last two years while I've been working on losing weight I've gone out to eat more than I have in the 5 or more years before that It's definitely a challenge to balance finding something to eat that I'll enjoy but that fits into my food plan for the day/week. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are both doing well today. I had hoped to get back to my quilting project today, but just wasn't in the mood. Maybe I'll get some more done later this week.

OK, I am back. Ginny, Devin had a field trip so guess where he is going this wet and windy day? The wet lands,
Phyl. that is great that you have a cousin close enough so that you can get together, It is nice to be able to meet with family members. I wish some of my relatives lived close.
Ruth, I am waiting for a phone call with the lab results. Probably wont get the call until later today. I am not worried about it because I have been through this several times.
I am still working on my b/blanket and I will do some more later this afternoon.

Today I am just going to say a heartfelt Thank you to each of you for your friendship and sympathies....it is greatly appreciated.
Long day. In addition to MIL passing, we had a natural gas leak in the house (very minor) and I had to take a sick cat to the vet.
\But God is good- we are all home safe and I can relax a bit. DBIL files back to Florida tonight,it will be good to have my house back again. Night! Ginny

Ginny, my heartfelt sympathies to your dear husband and you. I'm glad to hear that your dh had a good relationship with his mother. It's great when we can look back on fond memories.
I hesitate to say this because I don't want to take away from the death of your mil. My dh came up from his "man cave' to tell me there was a weird message on facebook about my cousin. I stopped my cleaning and went to look and it was a friend of my cousin posted thaat she needed someone in Becky's family to contact contact her immediately and it was urgent. I called and found that this friend had sent police to my cousin's house because she hadn't been able to get ahold of Becky in awhile. The police found Becky dead. They're investigating she said. Well long story but she had only her two brothers left and they had a falling out many years ago and were still holding on to whatever happened between them. Still I thought that her brothers should know and also that arrangements would need to be made so I called one of the brothers. He didn't seem to care much and didn't even get a hold of the police. Becky was close to one of her neices from a brother that was her father's son by the father's first marraige and it turns out that Becky had designated this neice os executor so everything is taken care of after all. This cousin was like a sister to me in years past so I am pretty rattled by it all. Sad thing is that as far as I know she was not saved. Said she'd read all thru the Bible and it didn't mean anything to her. I'm hoping that in final minutes of her life that she was able to come to God and do what she needed to do.She had just turned 60 a couple days ago and as far as I know didn't have any really serious illnesses. Of course now I'm regretting that I didn't keep in touch as well as I shouldhave in the last couple years. Last I "talked" to her was in Oct when she sent me a happy birthday on facebook
I don't feel up to individuals today.I may be back later.
