I hope you are all ready with your candy. We had too much candy so DGD took a big ban to work today. I usually don't get many kids if any but ai hope to get rid of some more . Once aai strat nibbling on it I keep going. Devin will probably go off somewhere with his mother to trick or treat.
It is really much cooler here I put the heat on to take the chill off the house this morning. It is warmer outside than indoors . I am having a stay at home day today. Yesterday I had a busy day. I had a repairman here in the morning and then went to a meeting at church in the afternoon. In the evening I watched tv and did some crocheting. I have been trying to find a handyman and I think I have found one.
cj, I did enjoy Sunday nights Poldark I will miss it when the season ends. But Victoria starts in January and I enjoyed that series as well.
Sue, I am sorry to hear about your sister. It is difficult to lose our siblings. All three of my brothers are gone now and I was the youngest and only girl. I didn't see them often as they lived in the UK but I was able to chat with them on the phone quite often. I know you have your hands full taking care of your DH, do take care of yourself. I am sure working with the fleece will keep you warm. I have never made anything with fleece and probably never will.
Ruth, I hope you can work the ends in as you crochet the border. I try to do that when I have a lot of ends.
Ginny, I am glad you are enjoying your DG kids. Enjoy them while they are little but do take a break and have some fun, I mean grown up fun. Will you take them trick or treat tonight?
Hi phyl. I hope you are keeping busy and enjoying some bumming with your pals. Sounds like a good way to spend the day.
Devin will be home from school soon and then he will want to go trick or treating. He wore his costume to school today.
Have a good evening.

The dentist was able to do less that half the work needed. I was there for three hours, and even he had to take a break. All the problems have to to have been the result of extra stress because this is more work than I've had to have done altogether in the 24 years I've lived here. I have another appointment in two weeks plus an appointment with an endodontist for a root canal next week. Good grief! I see the dental hygienist every four months, and she's excellent. Very strange. I really dislike going to the dentist, although I like everyone in the office a lot.
There shouldn't be any trick or treaters because it's snowing ... again. The lights in the front of the house are out, just in case, and the woofers are safely tucked away with me behind a closed door.

As usual we didn't get any trick or treaters. I did stay upstairs with lights on but didn't have the outside light on but I doubt any children came by anyway.
Kind of an overcast day today. HOpefully the sun will come out later. We were undecided as to whether to go to the store today or tomorrow but it looks like it will be tomorrow. I wouldn't mind going today to get it over with.
Didn't start my edging yet as I'm still trying to decide on when to stop doing the main part. It looks like the yarn is going further than I expected but after finishing this sequence I'll measure then decide. If I have yarn left I can, of course, use it for something else. Hats with the contrasting yarn as a wide stripe in the middle would be a good look or even a cowl depending on how much is left.
Well, Ginny, CJ, Sue, Meg, and Phyl, I do hope you are all having a great day and are able to have some r&r time

I went to quilting this morning. There were fewer people this morning which probably has something to do with the weather. I started a new scarf with a sock weigh bamboo yarn. The blues, greys, and white are very pretty, but the texture of the yarn makes it very slippery to work with, but the part I've don't so far feels good against the skin.
This afternoon I'm waiting for an appointment with the opthalomologist. This is an annual exam. Hopefully nothing more! My doctor moved to Colorado a few months ago, so this is a new person to me.
Rain all night is forecast for all night, but the temperature is supposed to stay above freezing. One never knows here!
Thank you for your condolences and prayers. I am doing much better, but it feels very strange to not have a sibling anymore. It was very helpful to reconnect with cousins who were part of the closer early years. Having to talk to her last minute domestic partner is off putting. Emotionally, he is all over the map. I am coming to the conclusion that he must be bipolar. My sister had said many times over the years that he had some unusual traits. Very true.

Sue I hope that the opthalmologist visit goes better than your dentist visit.
We did go out after all but went to Walmart first but that was disappointing. They didn't have what I went for. Stopped at one grocery store and did get some bargains there and picked up some trinkets that will work well for the little gifts I put in for those that aren't celebrating birthdays at the time. That's getting harder to do now that they're all getting older. Mostly the older girls get nail polish for the non birthday gift.

Hello, Ruth, Ginny, phyl. cj & Sue. I have been sleepy today. so not doing a lot. I did go and get a hair cut so I will look a little neater. I did have more kids than usual last night trick or treating so most of the candy is gone which is a good thing. I probably ate too much of it.
The weather here is very nice chilly in the early morning and evening. I haven't been crafting but perhaps this evening. Though I am enjoying my book which is not an audio book.
Have a good evening. I think it will be early to bed for me.

Good evening! Sorry I have not been able to visit. I have had trouble with internet and limited access. Dh and I are spending some time with his brother and his wife ( we are very close with them). So we have been busy. Hope tomorrow to have time to catch up with each of you Ginny

A group of Canada geese just flew past right in front of the view from the bay window. Now the woofers think barking and getting them to go away is part of their job, too. They already scare away cars, walkers, dogs, deer and anything else that's out on "their" street. CeeCee sits in the window and sounds the early alarm and is constantly scanning from left to right. There's a black lab with a red collar that regularly patrols the area, especially the fence and house across the street and more. Strange dog. I don't know where he lives. It's a good thing this is a rural subdivision and the actities and fairly limited and predictable!
There are now six days of snow in the forecast, as well as colder temperatures. Hang on to your hats! This could be the beginning of that "w" word.
I'm having lunch with my property manager. She's great, both as a friend and as a property manager. The power company is cutting down some trees that the birds planted under power lines in an alley and a large old tree in the yard at no charge. She's action oriented, and such a welcome change from the do nothing company I terminated in early July. There's still a major project that has to be done, but the long term tenants have to move out before anything can be done. Water leaks have been stopped. Sub floor needs to be replaced. Wear and tear, failure of tenants to report problems, too many people, repairs that were were reported weren't done. It's complicated and involves the old company and some creative duplicated billing for work that wasn't done. I don't know whether a local plumber is complicit in the problem.
Have a good day!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here has been mild - in the 70s, but supposed to get colder this weekend. The leaves around my house are finally at their peak color and looking pretty. I made some homemade Chicken Soup yesterday and added in some mini shell pasta. It turned out really well and gave me 3 generous size servings, so I can enjoy it today and tomorrow too. Take care everyone!

Sue, when we moved here my dh had thought of buying property for rentals but after we saw the shape our friends tenants left their properties we were glad we didn't. It's just oo much of a problem keeping up with the work involved. CJ, I did make chicken broth the other day but haven't actually turned it into a soup yet. I'll do that today. I'm getting cold because I've been reading a novel and the story takes place in the winter. Since we both have bad circulation my dh has cold painful hands so wants me to make him a scarf that after he described it turns out to be kind of an infinity scarf with a pouch along the bottom to put his hands in. Kind of like the muffs we used in the old days...does anyone remember those? You often see old pictures of carolers using those. Only I don't think the muffs had a scarf holding them around the neck I think it was just a string like they used to have on mittens before it was decided the string was a strangulation hazard. So going to work on the afgan which I still haven't finished and the scarf. I've been looking at patterns again and there is so much I want to make. Yesterday the only crafting I did was buying more yarn even though they didn't have the one I went there for. (Sue, we have an interesting list of what we consider crafting ) I'll be when Ginny's internet issues are taken care of. I miss when she's not here and miss everyone else when they aren't here also. We may be a small group but we are a caring group

I should have started the snowflake table runner in june. yesterday I cut out 206 pieces.
I will not be sewing on it for two days. I cut out a christmas stocking today.
also will take a couple more projects. small ones.we don't have alot of room to work on a big quilt.oh we can sew the blocks together just not be able to lay it out and sew the whole thing.
mary jo and I are in charge of brunch on thursday. she is making a egg bake. I got one of those things with ten boxes of cereal in it. just in case someone does not like eggs.
will make cranberry and blue berry muffins.
might pick up some bananas.

Phyl, good to see you. The quilting retreat sounds like fun and should be informative also. The choices for the brunch sound good and good idea to have cereal for those that don't eat eggs for one reason or another. I think the addition of bananas is good too. The people that eat cereal could put them in it and fruit is always a good thing for brunch. Are you going to have juices too?
I didn't get the afgan done as I kept being distracted by other things. Something comes to my mind and I just stop crocheting and do whatever it was that did come to mind instead of concentrating on what I'm already doing. Today I will finish it, start my dh's scarf and start some headband earwarmers for Christmas gifts. For the gds here and dgd here I'm going to make an earwarmer and cowl. If the dgs (age 13) goes skiing, sledded or whatever it is that 13 year olds do in the winter, his ears will stay warm and so will his neck without having to worry about scarf ends getting in the way. The dgd just turned 18 and is completley different than the one in Indiana that just turned 17. The 18 year old is mostly into whatever the current music trend, current fads in clothing and who knows what else. The 17 year old is more family oriented and is a caregiver type...helps with the younger children, reads a lot, studies, has goals for her life, all the things that people want their 17 year old daughters to do and that they don't usually do. I love them both but, as I said, they are so different.Even though both are the offspring of my children they were raised entirely different too.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all enjoying your weekend The weather here is much cooler, I the 50s, but it's a pretty sunny and breezy day. I don't look forward to the time changing, I hate when it gets dark so early. I haven't been doing any crafting, but I was thinking about trying to set a goal of doing some Slow Stitching on Sundays again. I love to read that weekly blog, so maybe I can be motivated to participate in the challenge. I saw that there is going to be another season of the Holiday Baking Championship starting on Monday night at 9:00 P.M. on the Food Network. I have really enjoyed the ones in the past few years, so I'm looking forward to watching a new season. Take care everyone!

Today has been dark and cloudy but dry. Fall clean up is finished, just in a nick of time. A little bit of snow is falling.
I've spent some time crocheting on the bamboo yarn scarf. It's several inches longer, but that's enough for today.
Don't forget to fall back!

CJ, I think that's a good idea to look at that site and get inspiration to do some more quilting. I saw that they're going to have the holiday baking championship on soon. I haven't watched it in the past and probably won't this year either. Mostly I only watch Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay, and Cooks vs Cons. I record them and watch when I need to have something to watch while eating.
Sue I bet the bamboo yarn scarf is beautiful. It's not all that cold here today but it's to be much cooler in the upcoming days with "precipitations" for mon- Wed...which of course means snow. I do need to go get my license plates for my new car as the temp one expires on the 16th so I do have a little bit of time but not much.
Sue also I did forget the "falling back" so thank you for the reminder. Not that it means all that much to me as I don't go anywhere anyway but it's good to have the clocks at the correct time.
I hope Ginny is doing well and will have internet soon
Meg, don't know if I said it but it's great you got to Knits Wits again. If there was some kind of group like that at my library I might go if it was during the day but I don't think I want to go to Caps for Kids again. I'm afraid if I go I'll find out that many of the people I knew there have passed away. I know one of our leaders did.
