Also, the increase in Democratic governors will help in the long run. My understanding is the redistricting is controlled by the states' governments, which is why the Republicans have had a stranglehold on the Senate. Now more states' voting districts will be drawn up by Democrats.
ETA: Upon further reading, this won't happen until after the 2020 census. So, hang in there!

Gubernatorial election in Connecticut was TIGHT, neck and neck. The Dem, Lamont, had a slight lead before all districts were counted. The Repug, Stefanowski, was already whining for a recount and wanted an injunction against election day registrations.
Stefanowski has conceded and CT adds another Democratic governor.
I would have wished for more Dems in the house, but this is a good step in the right direction. Dotard must be exploding.

I am afraid the Democratic House will be just what DT needs as far as something to blame and fight against. Nonetheless, we will persevere. I have heard pundits say this will really energize him; he needs enemies to point the finger to.

My little state of New Mexico went BLUE, BLUE, BLUE! After 8 years of a totally ineffective GOP woman governor, we now have a female Democrat! The rest of the major races (Sec of State, Att. General, Land Commissioner) all went BLUE as well (and several more to women). Our two Senators are both Democrats. We elected one of the first Native American women to Congress. Two of the three Congressional seats are BLUE, the third lost to the GOP in a very narrow margin in a very red part of the state. The state house also picked up more BLUE seats. Here's hoping we really can pull ourselves out of last place in so many categories.
Sad about many of the more publicized national races. I'm hoping those who lost, like Beto O'Rourke, Stacy Abrahms, Ron Gillum, will not quit, but go on to bigger and better things.

Sessions fired as AG. That was quick. Acting replacement has publicly expressed that the scope of the investigation should be limited. Also, suggested "starving" the budget available for the investigation as a way of shutting it down. Yay hooray...

Rosenstien will be next. This has all been planned out for awhile. They wouldn't even let Sessions stay till end of week, he had to leave today. Guess what being faithful to JA gets you. So many are so blind to how JA treats those around him. Hard to feel sorry for Sessions.

I spent entirely too much time watching political stuff today, including the 90 minute press conference with Trump. He sure was grumpy. And showed his racism, insulting the reporter who asked about his use of the word "nationalist". And April Ryan, he sure has it in for her. Just disgusts me totally. And yet he didn't seem to want it to end.
Did you all see where he had Hannity and Jeannine Pirro up on the stage during his last rally? Do Fox watchers really think they're getting the truth watching that network? And the last thing that REALLY disgusted me (and made my heart break again for Christine Blasey Ford) was him completely misleading his rally audience that Kavanaugh's accuser recanted her story, totally making it seem like he was referring to Dr. Ford.
On a brighter note, my husband and I had a very fun time at a Midterm Madness party last night, drinking to the wins, and biting our nails together with a small group of friends. Happy that my guy won for governor in CT. So many close races, good to see them close even if the wrong person won. Very unhappy about Cruz and DeSantis.
One of the topics as we were leaving the party was whether Trump will run in 2020. One guy said he absolutely doesn't think he will, because he won't want to take the chance of losing. I wonder if the next 4 years with a Democratic House will just be too unpleasant for him to contemplate another run.

Usually the assistant AG steps is as interim. But, that's Rosenstein and Trump doesn't want that.
I've read that some Dems are already saying Whittaker should recuse himself due to statements he's made earlier.

He is no longer overseeing the Mueller investigation, Trump has a lapdog in Whittaker who is the interim AG.

I spoke too soon about the outcome of one of the Congressional seats. The one I mentioned that stayed GOP, but was close, flipped. After the absentee ballots were counted the Democratic candidate won!

RBG broke three ribs. Wrap her in bubble wrap!. Such a toughie: she fell and then "experienced discomfort" the next day and went to hospital.
Also, another day, another mass shooting. <More guns for all, please> Extreme sarcasm font.

Worse nightmare ever, if JA gets to pick another SC justice should something happen to RBG. She is one tough cookie & I think if at all possible, she will hang on til 2020. I think McConnells "rule" of letting the "next" President pick the SC justice when it came to Merit Garland should apply here too. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, but of course we know this will never happen. They will ram thru another "Kavanaugh" ...someone beholden to JA.
I just wanted the rest of you to know that Joyce's Father passed away the other night. We all enjoy Joyce's insight & humor so much here on the thread, that I figured you would all like to express your thoughts & sympathies to her as well. Its always so hard to lose a parent no matter how old we are. Anyway, just wanted Joyce to know we are all thinking of her & her family.

Well, it's Friday. Always big news made on Fridays it seems. Wonder what will come down by end of day. His impromptu gaggle with reporters this morning showed he is still as ugly as he was the other day. Calling African American reporters nasty, basically stupid for the questions they ask etc, , threatening to take away more press passes. etc. The funniest thing is, he "doesn't know" Matt Whittiker. LOL...Think we heard that before with other nominees when they are in trouble. Throwing out voter fraud with these recounts. Plus a bunch of other ugly vile stuff. Then he walks towards the helicopter & gets half way there & stops, turns back & goes to get Melania. He forgot his wife....LOL...too funny!
Hope you all have something fun & relaxing for the weekend.
