Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas! I'm guessing the government shutdown will end when Pelosi takes the gavel in the new year. *waves* Merry Christmas to you too, Pam! Even though the Rs will still control the Senate, I am hoping for better things in the New Year. Some of the commentators I am hearing are talking about cracks starting to appear in the JA's support. I hope that is true, and that those cracks will keep growing until he and his whole bunch of enablers in the WH will come tumbling down. Then we can start actually Making America Great Again by repairing his destruction.
I think this whole business about the wall is just 1) panic on his part that he's losing support and 2) from the first day he mentioned a wall during the campaign I have thought there is someway he is planning to make money off the deal--maybe kickbacks, maybe he has a shell company to give a construction contract to, or whatever, but I am convinced he never does anything that he doesn't think is going to financially benefit himself.

Comment from an unnamed GOP strategist: (I can't find it again, so I'm paraphrasing)
We have a president who cares more what Ann Coulter thinks than the Secretary of Defense.

The other day, JA put out a pic of the "beautiful" steel slat fence he is now pushing...Hmmmmm, as someone mentioned, did he forget he put a tariff on steel?...So, this "beautiful" fence will cost a lot more because of his tariffs....He is such an imbecile.
So, do we as taxpayers, pay double to send Melania & Baron to Florida, only to have to fly them back because of shutdown? The money this family costs the American taxpayer could pay for his dang fence!....
I also read, which makes total sense, why not spend the money he is demanding for the wall, on Veterans. He's so totally neglected them, it's pathetic. But I guess, common sense has nothing whatsoever to do with this Fake President.
Wishing you all a wonderful few days ahead, celebrating Christmas however you choose with family & friends.

Merry Christmas. I also think the shutdown will still be there come January 3. I will be so glad the Mark Meadows and company are in the minority

Something from Andy Borowitz to make you smile . . . "The joke’s on Putin - he thought he was getting control of the US government and now the US doesn’t even have a government."

Pam, your Christmas tree is beautiful. It could be in Macy's front window. Not just any Macy's either. The one in NYC! We haven't put up a big tree in years. The last time we did our beautiful but bad cats tried to wreck it. Neko our little girl tried to climb up to the top. She almost made it too. Nipper one of the boys was obsessed with whacking and tugging at the ornaments. Milo our 3 legged boy peed on it. Fond Christmas memories for sure. lol. Pam, I hope your kitties are being better than mine were. I'm sure they are. They're such good boys. I wish everybody a merry, peaceful, and pleasant holiday. May next year be productive, sane, and hopeful! Cheers my Friends! With Love and hugs, Pat XXXOOO

Pat, thanks for mentioning Pam's tree. It made me go back and look at her post. I had completely missed the avatar of the tree, and you are right that it is beautiful. Way to go Pam!
I had to laugh about the cat vs tree stories. DD and family got a puppy this year. The puppy is adorable, but DD has not been able to put any gifts or even a tree skirt under the tree because the puppy (Millie) thinks the world's best game is to grab the tree skirt and see how fast she can run with it throughout the house.
I've been making Christmas snacks, and I'm tired. I don't make sweets, as DH and I neither one need them (we don't need the other snacks either, but hey it's Christmas!) DD will bring sweets tomorrow. We'll have a family dinner here together and open gifts, then Christmas morning DH and I will go to DD's to see what Santa brought, have Christmas brunch, etc. I have mixed emotions this Christmas. One minute I am listening to holiday music and enjoying it, the next I have tears running down my cheeks but I think that's all just a normal part of grief. Actually I think I am grieving my mother more than my father, because my father's struggle is ended but my mom's just continues on and I feel helpless because I can't do anything to make it even an iota better. Still my family is blessed, and I am grateful for that so bring on the Jingle Bells!
Wishing each of you a Merry Christmas. I'm sure I'll be in and out of the thread over the next couple of days, but some of you may not be back before Wednesday. Wishing each of you the very, very best Christmas ever.

Somebody said memories sneak out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks. True. Especially this time of year. ((((((Joyce))))))

I like that comment about the memories, Pat. It's right on target. I have lots of good memories, and those are precious gifts. 😊

Yes it is!! and yes he does!! lol He came with the name. We rescued him 4 years ago Yes, Casey was a Westie and we got him as a pup- lost him too soon to cancer, which we also lost our last Jack Russell, Wally right before Rascal.

I have neglected to say THANK YOU so much for the warm welcome to this thread I saw on CNN that Don Lemon asked "So, what do the Dems have to give up to end the shut down now that it has started?" and the entire panel.... crickets. It was interesting. Trump... of course would have to cave on the wall.. but the Dems... ? No one had an answer... so that will be interesting and Yes, as an earlier poster said (sorry as I'm typing I don't remember who) When Nancy's gavel pounds... let's see what happens!! Oh one more thing: I read that DT cannot use Air Force 1 during the shut down for any reason unless it's gov't. related (I didn't know that)- I guess that's why he stayed in DC- he couldn't get to FL

Just waving Happy Christmas Eve as I rush around trying to take care of all those last minute things that need to be done, although I'm not sure why. It's Christmas whether the furniture has dust on it or not. LOL! Will try to stop back in later. Wishing you all the very best!

Just one more piece of very important news. Fortunately even a shutdown government recognizes the importance of NORAD tracking Santa. DGD reports to me that Santa is now in Australia and will soon be headed to Asia. He's on his way, so you better watch out!
