Merry Christmas Eve to all! Happy Winter Solstice. I fail at posting links, but get on google and type in Jake Tapper Trump cartoon. It is hilarious. Got to have the sound on.

I am caught up reading 5 pages of this thread - good stuff and I agree with sooo much! Been busy with my hubbie's medical stuff and no end in sight but have good docs and feel hopeful. Merry Christmas and belated Good Yule to all. Sorry I'm not much of a contributor, but sure glad you're all here. Loved the comment about saying "I was wrong" being the hardest thing for most people to say. I'm continually shocked at the silence from all my Trump supporter friends, and the fact that they don't look at anything except Fox.

conniefromct, it's good to see you here. Hope you will post whenever you can. Dealing with medical issues can be a daunting task, but glad your husband has good doctors and that you are feeling hopeful. lani, I checked out your cartoon. I can just imagine what that plane would look like if left up to the JA. He'd probably also get rid of the signage "United States of America" and change it to just "Trump." Maybe Melania would have a few of those red Christmas trees painted on the fuselage. LOL! You never know with this group in the WH. Here's the link you mentioned above. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYRAEh3hoLg

nashville11 , actually the cartoon I was referencing is the one with the Trump-o-saurus rampaging in front of the White House. It is about when you-know-how learned how to tweet. That cartoon was replaced by Jake's newer one after I posted. There are a bunch of them. I haven't viewed any of the other ones. I presume they are all funny.

Good morning and happy day after Christmas! I hope each of you had a lovely Christmas, we had a lovely one here. We lost some old traditions, but in their place we began some good new ones. Life goes on, and as another friend tells me life is a gift to be enjoyed. For the most part the news kind of took a break over Christmas. It's heartbreaking about this second child dying in US custody. Separating children from their families seeking asylum is a stain that we will never be able to erase from our country's soul, but I am going to enter 2019 hopeful that this unspeakable "man" in the WH will not be there much longer, and that sanity will return and get our country back on the right path. Did you see the story about the JA taking a turn answer the phones for children calling into NORAD to track Santa? I don't remember his exact words but he actually asked a 7 year old child if the child still believed in Santa because at 7 it was kind of marginal. This man is a total idiot! I'll bet the mother on the other end of that phone was not a happy camper. Dan Rather tweeted about this, "âJust a thought: Which should be considered more âmarginalâ â believing in Santa at age 7 or not believing in climate change at age 72?â www.inquisitr.com/5223186/dan-rather-asks-trump-if-belief-in-santa-is-marginal-compared-to-belief-in-climate-change/?fbclid=IwAR0qa1a5mlM_2UG7ha_F8q8vVfhC2R_7l5knqnLdV6iHRHhJUv5pZfr6DIs

Hi from snowy, cold ND....Our mild winter is over, I think. Looking very Wintery outside. I'm just going to snuggle in & crosshatch & drink tea.
We had a nice simple Christmas with DS & family on Christmas Eve & a nice FT visit on Christmas Day with other son & family. Gatherings & traditions change over the years, but I have settled into simple quiet Christmases. I do miss having little kids around tho. They always make Christmas exciting. I have no words for JA & his Santa message to the caller on Christmas Eve. Only he could do such an unthinkable thing.

Just left my appointment with SS to apply for my dad's benefits for mom since his were higher. Who knew that SS does not accept Power of Attorney? Not me! So now the nursing home doctor has to fill out and sign papers that my mom is incapable of handling her own affairs. Then after that happens you still have to wait two weeks to give my mom, who is bed ridden and can't even remember that my dad is dead an opportunity to protest this. Bureaucracy stinks.

JA 's surprise visit to Iraq is nothing more than a photo op not concern for the troops over there. He wouldn't even meet with the Iraq Prime Minister which is the usual protocol for visiting heads of state when on foreign soil. But what else is new. This Fake Prez cares for nothing except for the opportunity to get his ratings out of the toilet.
Oh, that Bureaucracy ....When we tried to add DH name to Jason's checking along with mine, they demanded POA even tho we had legal guardianship of Jason. We tried to explain that we didn't need POA, but they were insistent. So we walked across the street to lawyers office & he just LOL & called the bank & let them have it for not knowing that the reason we have complete legal guardianship of Jason is because he is mentally incapacitated. And because he is, he can't legally appoint someone for POA. We tried to explain that ourselves, but they weren't buying it until the lawyer called. so irritating. So I hear your frustration.

Definitely agreed about the PR stunt in the visit to troops. I wish they'd all turn their back on him.
DH and I went to see the Dick Cheney movie "Vice" this afternoon. Talk about bone chilling! If even half of what was in that movie is true, you will want to run home and hide under the bed. Talk about cold blooded! It really was scary, and Cheney is evil to the very core. The only humanizing thing he had going for him was his support for his daughter Mary who is gay, but when it becomes expedient he ends up throwing her under the bus too. Just like the JA will throw his kids under the bus if it is useful to him. I do recommend seeing the movie. I wouldn't call it entertaining, but it is definitely fascinating. I hope a lot of people who are on the fence right now about the JA will go to see it, because it might give them an extra push to seriously reconsider their support of the JA as there are very definite parallels. The JA is no where near as smart, but he most certainly is just as egocentric and ruthless.

Sorry you're dealing with red tape. We had the same issues when my grandmother started failing. She had dementia so it was very difficult to get her to understand what she was signing.

DotRen, thanks. Even if my mom could understand, which is long since possible, she's no longer capable of signing. She can't even feed herself any longer. She can still swallow, but she can't manipulate a fork or spoon. In fact, I had to even feed her a cookie yesterday as she couldn't figure out how to hold it in her hand and get it to her mouth. Both my mom and dad signed not just healthcare POAs but also General Power of Attorney papers giving me sole authority as their only child a few years ago while they were still able to do so. The IRS which is federal has no problem with me signing my mom's tax return or paying her taxes on her behalf. Yet, SS says that POAs are only state documents and can't be accepted for Federal. It will all get sorted out, but it will take longer with more hassle. They will issue back payments for money she is missing while this all gets sorted out, but it just frustrates me as it is all seems so unnecessary. I could understand if I didn't have her POA, but since I have it I don't understand why some Federal agencies will accept it and some Federal agencies won't. Just bureaucratic red tape.

It's so frustrating. Sending hugs your way. It's difficult enough to handle the emotional strain of a parent with these issues, then pile the paperwork crap on top.

It really was scary, and Cheney is evil to the very core. I always thought he was an evil man. He looks evil. He doesn't even know how to smile. He kind of snarls. KWIM?

Just waving good morning! I will try to check back in later, but have a doctor's appointment this morning and then taking the DGKs to see Mary Poppins Returns this afternoon--a much better way to spend the day than thinking about what is happening in the country. Once again he lies to the troops. The man can't open his mouth without a lie coming out of it. While his visit wasn't sincere, I hope that nevertheless it heartened some of those soldiers, but for me personally I would never want to cross his path not that there is any chance of that happening. LOL!
