Good morning everyone!
So now Tweety is saying that his SC choice did not really say the things that his spokesman as well as others say he said about Tweety's criticism of the judiciary such as the infamous tweet about the "so called judge." Tweety just can't stand the fact that Gorsuch actually criticized him, so therefore someone must be lying according to Tweety. Just like he says that if the polls are not in his favor that they must be false polls. Anything he doesn't like must not be true. That is anything except the lies he wants us to be fed.
It's about 30 degrees cooler here than yesterday, but the sun is shining brightly and that is always good for my spirits. I did get our taxes completed yesterday, but want to go over them again before filing. As expected, we owe which is never any fun, but it is what it is as the saying goes. Yesterday when I went to visit my mom and dad my mom was having a bad day. I think going to get her eye injection the day before was just too nerve racking and got her too much out of her established routine. It may take a few days now for her to settle back down. She was upset and crying, although none of the things she thought were happening to her actually were, i.e., nurses not giving her medicine, occupational therapist coming when she wasn't supposed to come, people keeping secrets from her, etc. I know I have said it before, but Alzheimers is really a horrible disease. Previously we did have 4 relatively good days, however, so maybe she'll settle back down soon. I know she is miserable, and it upsets me because there is nothing I can do to make things better for her.

Tweeting against Nordstrom was so juvenile, and extremely unethical when he did it using his official Presidential @potus account. How many ethical violations is he going to get away with before Congress decides it's time for this to stop? Not until they get more of what they want, and then they'll try to get rid of him and distance themselves from him. The far right may not be willing to accept the fact that he is unstable, unethical, and completely taking advantage of them; but the middle of the road in the party is starting to get very uneasy. It's about time. It's not like he didn't show his true self throughout the campaign. Why did they think he would change?

Joyce... The stage your Mom is in now, is familiar, as my Mom went thru the same thing for a couple years or so, then she settled into a stage where she was less combative & more into the past. She would always say her Mom & Dad were coming to take her home. She was more quiet & kind of mumbled to herself. She is now sleeping a lot, or just sits with her eyes closed & then out of the blue will say something, like she is trying to join the conversation. Last time I was there she was speaking some German..Her Mom never really learned enough to speak English comfortably, so I always remember Grandma speaking German & my Mom visited with her in German....She hasn't known any of us kids for a few years now. But, she still every so often out of the blue, will ask if Jason is still having seizures. Go, figure, huh! Alzheimers is definitely a very wicked disease indeed.

"Alzheimers is definitely a very wicked disease indeed." -- Linda
Absolutely! I know she is going to have good days and bad days, and I am grateful when there is a good day. Somehow I just have to learn to be stronger and not let it upset me so much. I know I am doing everything there is possible to do, but still when she is angry and cries it just really upsets me. Yesterday I just left. What was the point in staying? I couldn't help her, and it was hurting me. She can't help it, and I have got to learn to get tougher about this and not take it all so much to heart. That is not helping either one of us.
Instead of talking about throwing money away on a useless wall, we need to get serious about finding a solution for Alzheimer's and a way to help those already suffering with it. We also need to get serious about the cost burden of long term care. People are living much longer, and the cost of care is huge. Very few people actually have the resources to afford it when it is needed. The cost of assisted living is very high, and yet it is less than half the cost of a nursing home in my area.
Just really have that all on my mind today. It's a serious problem, and yet I don't hear any of our politicians on either side discussing it.

Huff Post...
Trump claimed that his military prep school was just like going to war.
“I always thought I was in the military,” Trump told biographer Michael D’Antonio of his time at the New York Military Academy, a private prep school he attended during his teens. Trump said he received more military training in prep school than most actual soldiers did, and he had been required to live under the command of men who had gone on to careers as real officers and soldiers.
“I felt like I was in the military in a true sense,” Trump said. “Because I dealt with the people.”
Trump managed to evade a nationwide draft during the Vietnam War.
According to D’Antonio’s book The Truth About Trump, here’s what happened.
“I actually got lucky because I had a very high draft number,” [Trump] told a TV interviewer in 2011. “I’ll never forget, that was an amazing period of time in my life.” In fact the lottery was not a factor in his experience. It didn’t occur until fourteen months after he received his medical exemption [for heel spurs], and eighteen months after he’d left Penn. When reporters asked Trump about the medical deferment earlier this year, he couldn’t recall which foot had the bone spurs.
“You’ll have to look it up,” he said.
Trump’s campaign later issued a release claiming the spurs were, in fact, in both feet.
Trump once compared his own efforts to avoid sexually transmitted diseases to the Vietnam War.
“It is a dangerous world out there — it’s scary, like Vietnam,” Trump said in a 1997 interview with Howard Stern uncovered by BuzzFeed earlier this year. “Sort of like the Vietnam era. It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave solider.”
More than 58,000 Americans died in the actual Vietnam War, including nearly 18,000 who were drafted into service.

Joyce, it's really hard to walk away when you & your Mom are both upset. But it's in "Your" best interest to do so. Your Mom, in reality, isn't going to remember the moment, anyway. I had guilt feelings about this, too, but I gradually, realized I had to remember my Mom as she was, not as she is now. I spaced out my visits & kept them short. She can' remember from one visit to the next anyway, & I was always a good daughter & I still am even if not visiting as often as I used too. She is well cared for & in the best place she can be. She will be 88 this June & started having symptoms way back in 1998...it's been a long journey for her. I know you probably leave with tears in your eyes many times, but you know in your heart you are always the great daughter you have always been & deep within the darkness of her mind & especially her heart she knows that too. She just can't express it. Embrace the good days & walk away from the upsetting days. She is being well cared for too. Just really sorry about it all.

I don't normally like to generalize because there are lots of different points of view in both major parties, but I saw this on FB this morning and it just struck me as funny. I remembered it again when I saw Anne's comment to Pat about snowflakes.
"Republicans are the true snowflakes (they're all white, they're cold, and if you put enough of them together they'll shut down public schools.)"

I didn't comment on yesterday's posts but agreed with all of them. Tried to call Dick Blumenthal's office today but could not get through......busy day for him. DH is keeping a list on his iPhone and calling our Representative every week to register our feelings. (actually we both do). If there is a silver lining to all this mess it is that more people are waking up and getting involved in preserving our freedoms against unqualified Dumpfy and the Thang that is advising him. Bannon is beyond a wack job in his thinking. www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/steve-bannon-apocalypse_us_5898f02ee4b040613138a951?

One last post seen on FB, I hope it's not one you've already seen a million times . . .
"Trump is not using Twitter to distract you from his agenda. Bannon & co. are using Trump to distract you from theirs."

Group Hug ((((((Group))))))
Avalanche type snow over here on Long Island today and it's still coming down. Bitter cold and howling winds. 8 to 16 inches predicted. Yesterday it was 60 and sunny. My poor little feral's. I wish they'd come in the house but they're too spooked. I'd never do something like that again. No good deed. They all have houses full of straw but most of the houses are buried now. February sucks.
Joyce and Linda, my heart goes out to both of you. I agree with Anne. I'm glad you have each other and the rest of us are here for you too.
Here's the thing. We all have a whole lot of pain and stress in our personal lives. Life certainly is difficult at times. It makes me so damn angry that added on top of our personal daily struggles and challenges, we now have to deal with a lying madman/sexual predator and his despicable wrecking ball crew, smashing into democracy and decency and happily leaving a pile of rubble in it's place.
As if we don't have enough to cope with every single day. Who needs to worry about a lunatic that wants to know why we have nukes if we're not going to use them? Who needs that?

birdgal /Pat, I can't imagine all that snow. It sounds like all of you in the northeast are getting hit really hard. It's hard for me to imagine, but I expect Linda can definitely relate to it. So KAC has been "counseled." You'd think any half way intelligent person, at least any person with a job such as hers would know that you can not use your government office as a commercial platform even if it is for your boss's daughter's line of clothes. I'm quite sure she knew better. She's a lot of things, but I don't think stupid is one of them. She just figured this was a good way to ingratiate herself further with her boss. Who cares about the law when you're trying to rack up brownie points? Now Tweety is after McCain for saying his first military action was not a success. According to Tweety and his minions it was very successful. Could someone please explain to me in what universe a military raid to target one specific terrorist who got cleanly away and is now mocking Tweety in online videos while at the same time a Navy Seal was killed and you lost a plane worth several million dollars is considered a success? This all by Tweety who never served in the military because he had bone spurs, which during the campaign he couldn't even remember on which foot (his campaign later said on both feet). How long are actual veterans who have sacrificed for this country going to put up with his disrespect for them? By the way, just got back from visiting my mom and dad. Things were better today. Not great, but definitely an improvement from yesterday. Thanks for the virtual hugs and support.
