We are walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and some do other exercise. We set goals and keep track by miles. You can set your goal for any amount, count your miles any way you wish. The goal is consistency with exercise.
We started Jan. 20, 2003 on the WW Challenge Central Board as "250 Miles by June 1" & we've done 35 five-month walking challenges, including the one we finished Oct 1, 2016.
The group challenge is to average about 2 miles a day, 13 miles a week, or 50 miles a month; if you do it, in 5 months you will have walked 250 miles, and if you have stuck with the challenge and a healthy eating program for that 5 months, you will see wonderful changes in your health, fitness, and size!
Some people will finish well before the target date & will go for more or another 250 miles, but others will go at a slower pace, and new members will join along the way, so each member is welcome to set her/his own personal goal and target date. The new group challenge which started Oct 1, 2016, is "250 Miles by March 1, 2017."

Good Morning, Walkers! I marched in place Sat & Sun nights & stayed in my green zone of pts but didn't JGTB. A couple of not excellent but "better than" days. We are leaving early today for SoCal for the holidays & 6 weeks or so. I have a routine & a plan for the trip and this evening when we arrive. Good to hear all the positive attitude, perseverance and progress, picking ourselves up when we fall, learning from it and moving on It is inspiring! Waving at everyone! Have a great day! Good Morning Walkers!
We arrived in SoCal around 7:30 last night, after 12-1/2 hour drive. Now to reacclimate to the city sounds and vibes after our 3 weeks in the forest.
I stayed in my green zone of pts, stayed with my plan, 3 meals and planned evening snack. When we travel we stop for Subway sandwiches for lunch - I get 2 healthy type foot longs wrapped as 4 sandwiches. We each have one for lunch and one for dinner, and veggies and fruit and almonds to round it out. In the bad old days we would carry junk food with us on a road trip plus stop for burgers and fries or whatever. This works way better!
After we arrived & unpacked we had a glass of wine and our evening snack. I did JGTB - yay! Starting our stay off on the right track. No exercise yesterday but planning to get some today. First on agenda is groceries. Then office work.
NANCY - your post came through. Yes we had to re register but shouldn't have to do it again. GFY 2 mi 3 days in a row!
KELLY Hope you're feeling better.
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good afternoon,
Walked two miles today.
Kelly I hope you are feeling better.
Cait glad you had a safe trip. That is a lot of time riding.
Yesterday I had to put my little dog down, she would have been fifteen on Valentine's Day,the vet thought that she had a stroke. It is so hard to do but I couldn't let her be like that. Nancy

Good Morning!!
Had a better day yesterday. My new coworker came in late morning and sat with me the rest of the day. She has a lot of educational stuff to do including learning the EMR software before she will be able to much of anything. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel. Got a walk in and some stepping in place for 2 miles yesterday. Uggh, my DH has to have another eye surgery on his eye that is already blind the pressure is way up and has been causing a lot of pain and irritation.
Cait: Glad you arrived safely and started out your stay healthy. Will you be there for Christmas?
Nancy: Good job on your miles. So sorry for the loss of your furbaby. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Waving to all have a great day!!

Good Morning Walkers!
Last night I did march in place 1 hour = 3 miles, stayed in my green zone of pts & JGTB. A good HH's day. I was tempted to stay up but glad I didn't, because there are a lot of DH's snack foods in the house. And I needed the sleep, up around 6:30 this a.m.
I'm way behind on work and trying to get caught up. I tend to slack off when we are at home in North State CA, where I work out of my home office, & get over-busy when I'm in SoCal where I go into the office every day. I need balance!
NANCY - I'm so sorry about your pup. We lost our Homer, golden retriever, August 2015 and it was such a hard time. I'm still sad, but we can finally talk about him and remember him fondly without getting depressed. DH's DD#1 made us a calendar with Homer's pics in it for 2016, which was so lovely.
KELLY - Yes we are here through the holidays & probably through January. The weather is just so much nicer here in SoCal. So sorry about your DH's eye :-( Sending {{hugs}} & prayers. GFY stepping in place. Glad there is light at the end of the tunnel with new coworker
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good Morning!!!
No exercise yesterday. Went and got my hair done after work and did not get home til about 8 pm. I was exhausted.
Cait: Oh I am sure the weather is great in Southern Cal. Great job with your miles. You need to buckle down when you are home in North. Like your JGTB you will need to make a habit of JGTW.
Waving to all. Happy Walking!!

Good Morning Walkers!
I marched in place 1 hour = 3 miles last night while we watched TV, stayed in my green zone of pts, did my HHs, yay! Doing the JGTB removes so much drama about my night eating issues. Feeling good this am and preparing to tackle the piles at work in an hour or so. I do enjoy my morning at-home time.
Last week I had 15 miles, & have 33 miles for the month so far, 148.7 for the 5 month challenge that started Oct 1, and 711.4 miles for the year. My aim is to average at least 2 mi per day, 13 per week, 50 per month, 600 per year. So I'm doing well. I try to do 3 mi per day so that if I slack off, I have reserve so that the average is ok.
KELLY - JGTW! Love it! I'm glad you didn't push yourself when you felt so exhausted - and didn't eat either! That was my old solution to feeling depleted, exhausted - "fill up"
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good afternoon,
Kelly thanks for the Rainbow Bridge. That made me feel better. Hope your DH is better. When will he have the surgery? Hope that helps with the pain.
Cait the calendar is such a great idea. GFY staying in your zone and great with your miles.
I was so busy yesterday that I forgot to post, but .i did walk two miles. I only have walked one mile today. I just felt tired, but made myself do one hoping it will keep me in the habit. Have a great evening.

Good Morning!!!
Well, meals did not go as planned yesterday. I do have a decent lunch packed that was left over from yesterday. My evening meal will not be good as some alcohol will be involved. Meeting some past coworkers for our annual get together and after that meeting some classmates from high school. I did a little walking in place to get a little over 7000 steps
After the new year, I am definitely getting back to going to my WW meetings. He is having surgery on Thursday. Sure hoping it goes well and he can enjoy the Holiday.
Cait: I am trying not to push myself too much. You are doing great with your miles for the challenge. I haven't totaled up my spreadsheet recently. I will have to do that this weekend to see where I am in the challenge.
Nancy: You are welcome for the poem. I find it gives comfort when we lose our furbabies. I only ever had one pet owner who rudely told me that it was dumb as pets do not go to Heaven. I responded " How do you know have you been there? " She did not know how to respond to that, lol. Good job with your miles.
Waving to all. Happy Walking.

Good Morning Walkers! I'm up early - have to drive to downtown LA for work, probably in rain. Only about 5 hours sleep as we discovered in the rain last night that we have a leak in the bedroom. More expense but it is what it is. I did march in place last night 1 hour = 3 miles, green zone of pts, JGTB, all HHs. I didn't get much lunch & not til 4 pm yesterday but Lo & behold - I was busy and didn't feel too hungry. I'm sure I can be fine with less food. Wow! Never would have thought to hear me say that! Babysitting DGDs tonight :-) KELLY - GFY stepping. Good wishes for the event tonight. Keeping your DH in prayer. NANCY - good work with the 2 mi Wed & 1 mile Thurs. I try to tell myself - "at least do something" - so I try to march in place even if it's only 10 mins = .5 mi. Sometimes I get energy from it and do more. Sometimes I remind myself about the half hour a day for health info and it reminds me that this is really good for me and on balance not that difficult to do! ed.ted.com/featured/Mot8KdLTWaving at everyone!
