Happy 2019 Everyone!
Keep your seat belts fastened as it looks like it may be a bumpy ride, but I'm headed into the new year hoping for the very best. Good or bad there's going to be a lot of political news on both sides of the aisle. Democrats get your acts together, and please put the country back on track. Mueller whatever you have, I hope it's enough to get both this JA and his whole entourage out of the WH never to step foot in politics again.
As for each of my friends on this thread wishing for you a happy, healthy 2019 free from stress and worry. May each one of you be blessed!

2019 has lots of promise to be a bad year for the JA, and hopefully a very good year for the country although with a Republican controlled Senate led by McConnell it won't be easy. Still there is hope in the air. I'm really glad to see Romney coming out with such a strong statement against the JA as he prepares to take office. There are a lot of Republicans who really like Romney. Maybe some of them will listen. Do you think Romney may be gearing up to oppose the JA in a primary? Maybe. When Romney ran I did not want him to win, but wow I would take him in a heartbeat over what we have now. Funny how things like that change. Republicans that I was so opposed to in the past suddenly almost seem to be wearing halos when you stand them beside this JA. I won't be voting for any of them, but I surely would like to see one of them take the nomination away from the JA. So go Romney! Go Kasich!

I wonder if Mitt Romney will be all talk, no action, like Flake. Flake talked the talk at the end, but generally, voted with the GOP & JA policies. It wasn't that long ago, that Mitt interviewed for the Sec. of State (?) job. So, at one time, he must have thought JA was ok to work with. I'm just so tired of the rhetoric coming out of the mouths of any politician who does not back their brave talk with action.
I'm so happy to hear that the Generals are FINALLY beginning to openly talk about the JA who trashes & disrespects them on a daily level. When JA uses words like dumb, big mouth, stupid etc describing Generals or whoever, its like a school kid who can't come up with big words when bullying others. I just hope the layers of this Con Man in the Oval Office is starting to peel off in huge layers, so some of those who have remained silent will begin to recognize how wrong they were about this idiot!...Of course, his die hard supporters will never admit it, but I hope their numbers are shrinking as well. I would imagine JA will be needing another rally soon to sooth his ego with chants & name calling. UGH!
So, we begin the new year, hoping Mueller has something, anything, to help rid us of this Fake Prez!
The meeting in the Situation Room today, is nothing but a show.....nothing will be accomplished. I hope Schummer & Pelosi hold steady & hard lined. No wall, security, yes, & don't forget the Dreamers....should be interesting when the tweet storm starts after this meeting.

Agreed! I am all for border security as I think we all are. We need to know who is in our country, but that wall is just a joke. It's not going to make us any more secure, but I think that in some way it would put money in the JA's pocket. I don't understand how any reasonable person can even think that a wall is going to provide security. But then maybe no reasonable people do think that, just the JA's befuddled die hard followers.

Don't forget this is a thug who admits he did, probably still does, do business with mobsters.
Birds of a feather?
Perhaps this wall is so very important to him and only him because of some deal or promise he might have made with them.
At first I thought it was about a campaign promise until it dawned on me he doesn't give a rat's about a promise or America. He cares about one thing and that is himself.
He starts almost every sentence with "I".
You don't mess around with those guys no matter who you think you are..
Just saying.

That's an interesting thought, Pat, about the wall and mobsters. Maybe he did promise some of his mob buddies, and you're right that he has openly admitted doing business with mobsters, that they would get a contract. It's entirely possible, but then absolutely anything is possible with this JA. That is anything but something good. Somehow, some way, having that wall is to benefit him whether it is directly or indirectly. He doesn't care about campaign promises. He also promised he was going to "fix" our infrastructure, but we haven't heard peep one out of him about that. Do his followers just not care that our roads and bridges are crumbling all around us? That people in TX and FL are still struggling from hurricane damage, and as for Puerto Rico he never even pretended to care about them. I guess the optics are better if he can frighten people into thinking hordes of brown skinned people speaking Spanish are about to flood across the border and murder us in our sleep.

"Source: Trump tells Schumer he can't accept Dems' offer because he'd 'look foolish'" . . . No need to worry about that JA. Foolish would be a definite improvement on how you look to the entire world. Go for it! Try moving up for a change instead of continually getting lower and scummier. Foolish vs complete idiotic fool = a win!

Saw somewhere a posting that Ann Coulter says Trump will fold on the wall issue. Too bad she didn't give him permission to do that before the government shutdown.

Trump tells Schumer he can't accept Dems' offer because he'd 'look foolish'" Look foolish? LOL! That ship has sailed. He doesn't have to worry about looking foolish. The world already knows he's a fool.

Remember that old Sonny & Cher song, "the beat goes on . . ." well it's going through my head with the words "the shutdown goes on, and the shutdown goes on . . ." I don't see how even the JA can possibly believe he's going to get what he wants for that wall at this point, so he must be holding out 1) because he just can't accept reality and 2) because he's trying desperately to make it look as if it's the Democrats fault for the shutdown. He's going to have a very hard time doing that though with that famous clip of saying he would be proud to own it. Idiot! It really angers me too when I see people like Lindsey Graham go on TV and say things like Democrats are trying to make this president fail. Really???!!! This pretend president has been a failure from the moment he took office, and he didn't need anyone's help for that. He did it all by himself. Besides that, I honestly don't know a single person who wants the president to fail. I think most people are like me, I desperately want this JA to be the best president we've ever had. I want him to lead our country, and work hard for what is best for our country. The problem is that not once, not one single moment that he has been in office has he tried to do that. From the moment he was sworn into office he has made it all about himself rather than about the country. Absolutely nothing he does is done with any motive other than trying to benefit himself-- the country, the world, and every single one of us be damned as far as he is concerned. But you know what, Lindsey, you're perhaps even worse than this JA. At least he never even pretended to be anything other than what he is. But LG and the people like him in the Republican party who are enabling this atrocity and yet trying to pretend they care about the country are worse than scum. There really are no words to describe them. They know it's wrong, and yet deliberately choose to do it anyway. So LG, please just get off my TV screen!

Another one, that should get off the "TV screen" is Rand Paul. He was on this morning slamming Mitt Romney for his op ed & his interview with Jake Tapper & said it was so wrong for Romney to trash the president's character etc. He was basically accusing Romney of doing what JA does on an hourly basis.....belittling everyone & trashing one's character. It was almost laughable to think anyone couldn't see thru what Rand Paul was doing. So, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how Graham & Paul think we should believe their constant support lately of JA. During the Primaries, didn't JA call Rand Paul & Lindsey Graham some pretty choice names. And they both responded back with rhetoric very negative of JA at the time. This talking out of both sides of their mouth just turns me off on everything & anything both these yokels have to say now.

LOL! They both had some very nasty comments about the JA during the primaries, and he did about them as well. They are such transparent hypocrites!

Cracks are appearing in that GOP "wall." The longer this shutdown goes on, the more McConnell is going to have to struggle to hold his flock in line. It was probably easier for him when they were all united in hating Obama, but now it's different. Their constituents except for the really hard liners are likely to get restless the more they hear that Dems are working to get the government back up and running but that the JA and McConnell are obstructing that. The majority of the country is not in favor of the JA's wall, and so that majority must include a number of Republicans. Democrats are holding the high ground here, and that can't be completely lost on the public. I think the JA is shooting himself in the foot by taking such a hard line stand on this. In the long run, I think he'll have to cave and that's not going to look like the tough guy he tries to portray himself to be to his followers. It's going to be harder and harder for him to try and blame this all on the Democrats. Maybe he should read "The Art of the Deal." LOL!
