Did any of you see the 60 Minutes interview with Howard Schultz last night? I liked a lot of what he said. The problem is, however, that no matter how much I like what he or any other candidate says I can't get behind anyone who might siphon off votes and put this JA back in the White House. I don't believe at this point in history that an independent can win? Do any of you think differently? That's not to say I would not like to see an independent win the presidency, it's just that I don't see a path for them to do so. So I am really hoping that he will change his mind about running as an independent. What about Kamala Harris's speech yesterday? I only saw a small portion of it, but she sounded very good. She seems to be stirring up a lot of interest among the media. That may be a double edged sword for her. Sometimes it seems when the media starts really focusing on a candidate and talking them up that it ultimately works against them. I think it may have hurt Hillary that the media seemed to anoint her as the winner very early on in the process. Do you think a woman and a woman of color can win this time around? Maybe. How low we have sunk that we feel we have to analyze who can beat the JA as opposed to who we necessarily think best represents our values for the country. Because I'll be honest here. I will vote for ANYONE who can beat the JA. Nothing could possibly be worse than he is.
Linda, I agree. Hillary it's time to recognize that your chance at the presidency has passed. It may not have been fair, but it just is the way it is.

Heard something interesting on MSNBC this morning (I learn a lot when I'm on the bike and treadmill at the gym). The person who was being interviewed said he thought Trump should declare a national emergency for the funding of the wall. That would remove the wall funding from the other funding required to keep the government open. Then the whole wall thing could be tied up in the courts, and he felt the courts wouldn't side with Trump.

I agree. Hillary had her time, it's past.
On MSNBC someone was saying the Biden could be more effective as a "king maker" the same way Teddy Kennedy was when he endorsed Barak Obama.

Linda- How bad is the weather there? DH and I are concerned. Linda, if it's even half as bad as I think it must be my advice is to burrow under the covers and not peek out again until May. Stay safe and WARM!

Anne, I'm warm & toasty inside. But the wind is howling & nasty & it's suppose to dip down to -40 below wind chill tonight thru Wednesday. Just happy we don't have to be out & about or traveling.
I stayed away from the news today. Just tired of seeing icky Roger Stone's face all over the TV.

Linda, I don't know how you do it. This Winter has been real tough on me. I can't fill all my bird feeders at one time. I have to come in and warm up then go out there again. When I go out I have on 2 tee shirts, a sweater or two, a vest, a thick winter jacket, ear muffs, a hat, a scarf, and gloves. That's how I dress if it's 40 or under. lol.
You must come from good strong stock, Linda. I'm a wimp. I can't take the cold anymore. And yet, this place is my home. I've lived here my whole life and could never leave. While Florida does sound tempting right now, I'd rather deal with bitter cold and b!tch about it, than have my roof top blown into the next town in a tornado or torrential down pours.
Stay safe and warm. I can't wait to see pictures of your Spring flowers and your little library.
I don't think Hillary will run. I hope Bernie doesn't. I don't know how I feel about Biden yet. Strange, right?

@lka5, OMG those temps! Hope you, DH and Jason stay safe and warm. nashville11, I agree if he makes it official, Schultz would siphon votes... from both parties. I can't help but wonder if this new Schultz-factor would impact the decision of any republican (John Kasich?) to primary the JA. As to Kamala Harris, she had a good roll-out and she generates a lot of excitement. I heard it said, If at the end, she's not the nominee, she'd be the nominee's VP choice. At least she's got it boiled down to a bumper-sticker lol - you know how important that is to me.
