HAPPY NEW YEAR to all that post here.
And may I add a peaceful, and healthy 2019.
That being said: D.T.'s twisting, turning, lying, and stupidity seem to go on and on and on, he mouths off without a clue as to facts. All this about the wall is just charging his battery up, he is having the best time of his life shutting down the government and holding the paychecks of Federal Employees hostage. And once again he proves himself a bully picking on people who cannot fight back.
Linda- We watched Graham this morning, agree he sounds like he has drunk the kool-aid and enjoyed every drop. "More please Sir."

IMHO- Alexandrie Ocasio-Cortez is a piece of work,(in a good way)those old white guys on the hill are going to shrivel up and blow away because they can't control her or intimidate her. You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joyce- We really are getting a good look at people we thought were at least reasonable. What a disappointment they are.

Wouldn’t it be great if those affected by the shutdown, could “relate” the same way JA thinks he does,
Trump’s claim that he can “relate” to financially strapped federal workers may be hard to swallow by some. Though he has claimed he didn’t inherit his wealth, a New York Times investigation in October revealed he benefited greatly from his father’s real estate fortune. “By age 3, he was earning $200,000 a year in today’s dollars from his father’s empire. He was a millionaire by age 8. In his 40s and 50s, he was receiving more than $5 million a year,” the Times wrote. The president’s net worth is an estimated $3.1 billion, Forbes reported in October....Huff Post

They could all be having to sleep on the street in front of the WH, and he'd just instruct his motorcade to run over them as he has himself driven across the street. I really believe that he is just plain evil. Evil does exist in the world, and right now it is living in the White House.
As for AOC she is definitely not the norm, and she's not going to let any old white men keep her silent. I listened to an interview with her, and she had a lot of very good points. There seems to be some friction (or maybe it's just hype) between her and Nancy. I think a lot of people in both parties don't really know what to make of her. I hope she's going to turn out to be genuine. It's a sign of what this JA has brought us to that we are wary of anything in politics anymore, but definitely hoping for the best with AOC.

As usual, I fail at posting links, but when you're out and about on google, check out an old video that has been getting some replay lately: look for: trump knows more than anybody.

lani, watching that video it's hard to know whether to laugh, cry, or just beat your head against the wall.

So, do you think the Networks & Cable News should carry JA address tomorrow night? I would bet the house he is going to declare a "national emergency" before he goes to the Border on Thursday. I think they should not carry it. It's just another freebie to lie about his border wall. Plus, the trip to the Border is just a photo ops wasting tax $$ flying down there.

I just got back home, and hadn't seen anything about the proposed address. Quickly Googled it, and it looks like he is saying it's to talk about the shutdown. No, I would prefer that the networks not carry it. I agree with Linda that it will be nothing more than self-aggrandizing, lying about the need for the wall, and it wouldn't surprise me if he tries to declare a fake national emergency. They could have reporters and cameras there so that in the very unlikely chance that he actually had something important to announce they could always break into normal programming and cover it. I hate the way all the news outlets cater to his ego in giving him air time for nothing more than to praise himself and spout whatever lie jumps to the forefront of his brain.
Question: Do some people just not understand irony or sarcasm at all??? Really you just have to accept that some JA supporters are stupid. I put the meme above on FB, and so far at least 3 JA supporters who are gung ho for building that wall have "liked" it. I know they don't have a clue that I was actually making fun of these same people who also think we all should be carrying around at least a couple AR-15s, and arming every teacher while doing nothing but praying about school shootings. They didn't get the intended message at all. Was I expecting too much that they would recognize it for what it was? I got it from a group who uses Obama's picture as their avatar. I'll bet you if I had shared it from that group rather than just posting the meme so that Obama's picture appeared with it their response would have been completely different. Should I take that FB post down? I don't want idiots thinking I am in favor of the wall, and while I believe in prayer I don't want those same idiots thinking that I think prayer is the only thing we need to do to keep our children safe in school. Should I leave it or take it down?

Decided to take it down. Just couldn't stand the thought of anyone thinking I was in favor. Geesh JA followers! Take off that MAGA cap and put on your thinking cap!

nashville11 , Joyce, you were feeling uncomfortable about it, wise to take it down for your peace of mind.
So for a little fun watching my lovelies:
ALPHA HOUSE- "Four Republican senators share the same D.C. house rental, and face re-election battles, looming indictments, and parties...all with a sense of humor. Starring John Goodman as Senator Gil John Biggs."
IMHO this a good one, very funny in a sly way. Sad to say there were only two seasons. Interesting that it came out in 2013, which may show nothing changes in D.C.
I know it sounds like I have a MAGA hat on, while I am watching a show about Republicans. Nope, nada! The show is the creation of Garry Trudeau the author of “Doonesbury”.
So have fun.....you can get it on NETFLIX........

Does anyone else think that the only reason he pulled troops from Syria was so he can use them at the Mexico boarder? If he declares it an emergency, he can, can't he?

Joyce- You are correct. Some people do not get subtlety or sarcasm. Just not programed for it I guess.

DotRen, "Schiff: 'A non-starter' The idea has met pushback from some, including California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, who said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" that he did not think Trump would be able to use emergency powers to build a wall at the southern border. "Look, if Harry Truman couldn't nationalize the steel industry during wartime, this President doesn't have the power to declare an emergency and build a multibillion dollar wall on the border," Schiff said. "So that's a non-starter." Schiff said the burden remained on Trump to move and reopen the government, saying Trump had painted himself into a corner and needed to "figure out how he unpaints himself from that corner." The congressman also said that if Democrats give into Trump's demand, it would incentivize the President to attempt further shutdowns in order to extract concessions. "We just can't afford to do business that way," Schiff said." Another opinion from By Bruce Ackerman Mr. Ackerman is a professor of law at Yale and author of “The Decline and Fall of the American Republic.”: www.nytimes.com/2019/01/05/opinion/no-trump-cannot-declare-an-emergency-to-build-his-wall.html D.T. likes to bully and scare people.........and he knows little about the laws of our country.
