This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it

Good morning and Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a good evening.
cj59, love your plan for January. I think planning is key.
DotRen, you too are planning ahead. That sounds good regarding the soup.
As many have planned to do I am starting new today. It will be hard since I am going to a neighbor's for brunch. But I'll try to make good choices. At my WW workshop on Sunday we were given the challenge of picking one of WW pillars (food, mindset, or activity). I chose Mindset. That's a big one for me. I'm pretty good about my activity. Not so much the food, but maybe I will chose that one for February.
I am starting 2019 the heaviest I have been. Not good. I'm also thinking about giving up meat. I've been thinking about it for several years now.
So 2019 is a new year to get it right.

Hello Everyone - Happy New Year - Hope this is a happy and healthy year for you and your families sunrose - Thanks for starting the thread, I'm going to be more active this year. You have some good goals and I wish all the success in the world. I know that you can do it DotRen - You're smart to start tomorrow. I've found that I set myself up for failure if I don't start at the right time. I'm easing my way back into eating well, I don't want to go "cold turkey" right away, but I'm hoping to be done with that this week and by next Monday eating the way I want to going forward. I'm trying to get in two 30 minute walks a day, but at a minimum I want to do 45 minutes of exercise a day. I also want to reduce the amount of sugar I consume, it's just been too much this past year. One of my favorite things is a cup of hot tea with sugar every morning. It's actually more of a cup of hot sugar with tea though So I've gone back to putting Equal in my tea instead of sugar. I was sad not to have it today, but I don't want to develop diabetes and sugar is just a lot of empty calories. I'm also doing another Beck Diet Solution review on another board. I was really successful with it in 2016 and 2017, but didn't practice it in 2018 and it shows in my weight gain.

Hello Everyone DotRen - I finished the last of the bacon I had in the house today. I'm not bringing any more in for awhile, even though I don't think it's that bad to eat - it's just that I like to eat it on toast with lots of butter I've been meeting my step goals and making sure to get some fruits, vegetables and dairy each day. I've also made it to Day 2 without putting sugar in my tea I really am missing this, I looked forward to it each day. So I guess that tells me how addicted I was to the sugar and the feeling of drinking the sweetened tea. Hope everyone else is doing well.

cj59, I've tried making bacon in the oven. It turns out great but the splatter inside the oven is a mess to clean up! I'm sure there's a trick I haven't learned yet lol. Good job on the tea The first time I did a Whole30, someone told me to drink my coffee iced instead of hot, to get over the "sweetened and lightened" habit, and it worked. Iced was easier to tolerate. Now I rarely put anything in my coffee. It might work the same with tea, but it's cold out and iced tea may not be that tempting right now.

Hello Everyone DotRen - My bacon secret is buying Oscar Meyer already cooked bacon slices and heating them in the microwave Seriously though, I think this bacon tastes good and like "real" bacon and it's a way for me to have only a few slices at a time. I'm adjusting to the tea with Equal. I usually have 2 cups of hot tea every day - the morning one was with the sugar and the afternoon one with Equal. I'm just drinking both of them with Equal now. I figure either the sugar or the Equal could kill me, but I know the sugar could so I'll take my chances with the Equal I could drink tea, hot or cold, without a sweetener if I absolutely had to, but I sure wouldn't enjoy it. Good for you breaking that habit. I got in my steps today and had fruits, vegetables and dairy foods. I hope to get fully back on plan by next Monday. Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans.

Good morning
Sorry to be MIA. Regarding bacon I really like the center cut reduced sodium I get from Wegmans. It's only 1 sp for 2 slices, but I just finished that up and will not have if I am successful with cutting out meat. I still plan (for now) on having cheese, eggs, yogurt etc. Just giving up pork, chicken and beef. I will also still have seafood. We'll see.
I still need to work on v/f. I am so bad about that. I use to be so good regarding those. I don't get dairy in either. I did meet my step goal yesterday. Will do the same today.

cj59 did you ever think about weaning off the sugar? That's what I did with sugar in my coffee. I gradually cut back by about half, then dropped it altogether. Now I only have sweet coffee if I'm having something fancy. sunrose49 I think giving up meat is an excellent idea (says the vegetarian). I've never regretted it. Sometimes I think I would like to eat meat but then I think that I couldn't get past what it is. I couldn't just not think about it. I'm slowly getting over a Christmas illness. It took me out of commission for almost two weeks. I went back to work for a day and a half, then went back out sick. I couldn't help thinking that it wouldn't have been so bad if I was in better shape. Carrying all this extra weight is so hard on my body. Also, my lungs are in terrible shape. I need to do some cardio conditioning. Hope everyone is doing well!

sunrose49, DotRen, cj59, wwlurker, good morning! The sun is out today and the natives were frightened lol - it's been dreary for a few days here. cj59, I always got son big packs of the pre-cooked bacon and sent them to him at college lol. sunrose49, I'll have to look for reduced sodium. I tried turkey bacon but it's just not "right". There are a lot of vegetarian WW bloggers on youtube, just search weight watchers vegetarian and maybe it will give you some ideas wwlurker, glad you're feeling better! Those lingering illnesses (we call them the "creeping crud" here lol)can really be hard on you, especially if you have a deep cough that just seems to hang on for weeks. Hope you feel even better tomorrow

Hello Everyone sunrose - Good luck with your food plan. I hear you on the fruit/vegetable thing. I literally have to make myself eat those every day. They are the first thing I give up when I get off track. wwlurker - Hope you are feeling better soon. Thanks for the suggestion on cutting the sugar. I thought about that, but I tend to start creeping back up adding more sugar - that's what has happened in the past when I tried it. I even used a measuring spoon for the sugar, but then added more I think I just have to accept that I need to use the artificial sweetener if I'm going sweeten my tea. DotRen - Your DS probably loved getting those bacon care packages! I didn't get in a vegetable today, unless you count the tomato slice on the sandwich I ate at lunchtime I did get a fruit and dairy in though. I'm about 1,200 steps short on my daily minimum I want to get so maybe I'll be motivated to get them in this evening. I did do 10,000 though. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good morning! Son got the job as a teaching assistant/caregiver at a prep school. The kids are elementary age, but he's also a "floater" and will stand in with whatever age group is needed (teacher at lunch, needs to leave the room, someone calls in sick, etc). I'm not thrilled with the 45 minute drive, I really wanted him to get something closer to home. But, it's a job and he's getting some hands-on teaching experience so that may lead to something better down the road. Because he will be working from 11am-7pm or (like tomorrow) 8am-7pm, he wants me to meal prep for him so he doesn't spend all his salary on fast food. I'm making him a pasta salad (something he can eat cold) and prepping a mexican beef and cauliflower rice dish for myself.
