Good morning! Sounds like you're all doing well sunrose49, I've never had to walk a dog, we've been lucky enough to rent or own(now) places with fenced yards. I don't know how you do it when the weather is bad? (I know, I sound like an idiot lol). cj59, is Beck more of a mental switch than a diet? I think we found a new vet (yeah!). I won't say anything bad about the vet service we've used over 30 years -through many vets and pets - and one of the current vets is just awesome, but apparently everyone likes her best because you can never get a quick appointment with her. And the other guy... ugh. He rubbed me the wrong way several years ago. He has an awful case of "I'm the doctor don't question me". The new one spent an hour talking to us, getting info, handling Murray (he loved it) -she was just very hands on and did more in an hour than the other guy has done in 2 years to get to the bottom of the skin problem. She did skin and hair tests to find out if it was bacterial (it was but it was also a yeast) infections, and the antibiotics the other guy had him on were not the right kind to deal with it. With all she did (including a rather humorous wrestling match with Murray to clip his nails lol she's a small woman and he's a person size dog lol) was only $200. (2 prescriptions, 1st visit and all that, tests/stains, nail clip, prescription shampoo, and all of her time) that would have easily been double that amount at the old vet. She did say he may have a thyroid problem since he's been gaining weight on 1200-1300 calories a day, but she can't test for that with the meds and his skin condition. I am changing his diet up a bit (with her approval) to reduce the dry food he gets at breakfast by 1 cup and adding 1 cup of a green bean, pumpkin and blueberry to replace it and add some veggie bulk and fiber. That also cuts his calories by around 200, which might help. I was going to add ground turkey, but she suggested we wait until his skin clears up and make sure he doesn't have a reaction to turkey. His current food is duck based, so I did order some ground duck breast and duck breast trimmings from maple leaf farms, so I can cook a little down and make a broth to flavor the veggies. Sorry for the novel, we've been so frustrated with his skin issues and not getting anywhere after spending around $2 thousand over the last year and a half with the old vet, I'm just really hoping a new set of eyes can figure this out.

Are we talking about Beck? I LOVE Beck. If you do Beck you turn into a Weight Loss Juggernaut! Unstoppable! (I need to do Beck, lol) DotRen, I'm so sorry about your doggy! My two pups had surgery, one in November and one last week so I'm so relieved from all that vet stress and I feel your pain. It sounds like you're an extremely attentive pet parent, and you're doing an awesome job! cj59, I love a long walk. That's amazing that you got out this time of year. Good luck on the healthy eating! sunrose49, Darn those weather-related weight loss hurtles. I hope you can figure out something to make TM and housework more fun. TV, music, podcast, audiobook? Stay strong, you're doing great! ... yeah, I'm going to go do Beck. Catch ya later!

Hello Everyone sunrose - Hope you can get on the TM to get your walk, and also get the housework done - neither one of those are favorites of mine either! DotRen - Yes, the Beck Diet Solution is more about changing how you think about food, eating and dieting rather than a diet itself. You can choose any food plan you want to use while working through the process, so it's very flexible. I'm glad you've found a new Vet who seems good. Years ago I had a small terrier who would have skin allergies in the summer. It was so miserable for her biting and scratching herself till her skin was raw. irisinnia - It's nice to hear from you, hope you are doing well on your plan. For all of those thinking I went outside to walk - no, I didn't I always do all my walking inside, since I don't live in that safe of an area to walk and I don't want to have to drive somewhere to walk (I'd never do it). I've used some Leslie Sansome walking videos in the past, but mostly I just walk in place at a fast pace. That worked for me when I lost all my weight a few years ago. But I've been slacking off so I'm trying to do a full 45 minute walk again. I had been doing 60 minute walks. Hope everyone has a great day.

I forgot to mention that I guess my body is tired of all the junk food, since I've been craving some vegetables in a salad
So even though it's a cold, snowy day here I'm enjoying a nice cold salad for lunch

I got my sons meal prep done for lunches this week: meatballs in marinara sauce and a snack plate of: a cheese stick wrapped in proscuitto, baby carrots, pita crisps and hummus. That should hold him for the day (he leaves for work at 9am and isn't home until 8 or later because of the drive, but at least I've been able to get him to eat breakfast).
And my dog's for his weight -replacing 1 cup of his dry food in the morning (350 cals for the dry per cup) with a mix of green beans, sweet potato, sugar snap peas(because I had some in the fridge I need to use) and a little of his dry food simmered in to make a gravy. I calculated about 150 calories for 1.5 cups, which is a lot of reduced calories from the dry, and a lot more bulk from the veggies. Fingers crossed it works better for him than it does for me lol.
DH takes leftovers for his lunches. The only one I didn't plan for is me! Figures lol.

Good morning
DotRen, I have a fenced in yard, but Maddie and I both love our walks. I agree though they are awesome when it is raining;-) You are such a good mom/wife. Hope your dog's skin clears up. That's a good price regarding the visit.
cj59, that is some good walking inside! Good for you eating a salad.
irisinnia, thanks for your thoughts on The Beck Diet. I downloaded a sample on my Kindle yesterday. Good to see you.
After my son shoveled the drive it snowed again and it's all covered. I will get in some kind of exercise and no I didn't get on the TM yesterday. lol

Good morning! DotRen, Excellent meal plans! And it's cracking me up that you didn't plan for you yet. Hopefully the doggy likes his tasty food! Good luck! cj59, How awesome that you walk inside! I need to do that. I turn into such a baby when it gets cold. And you're eating salad too? Sounds like you're rocking the plan. I don't know what I'm going to eat today. I don't plan on going to the store until tomorrow, even though staples are a bit low. I had a rough past couple of days plan-wise, though they were absolutely lovely days. So... I need to make a plan for today, meal plan for the week, corresponding grocery list for tomorrow, and an exercise plan. Most importantly though is to do Beck. I have all the time in the world and the resources to lose the weight I want, but if my head's not in the game then I'm just a yo-yo on a string. Good luck to everyone on your plans!

sunrose49, I live where there is no snow (actually it used to snow every year when I was growing up but we haven't had one in 6 years) so I cannot even imagine the exercise struggle with the snow. I seriously admire your effort.

Hi everyone! irisinnia, good to see you! cj59, good for you for getting your walking in. I don't think I could walk in place. I just wouldn't do it, like driving somewhere to walk or run (which I don't do on a regular basis). DotRen, you are one committed dog mom! sunrose49, cleaning is the bane of my existence. Mostly because the kids destroy the house which makes it hard to get to the surfaces for cleaning! I lost 0.6 at my WI. I ended up being over 100 pts over for the week. But I did track and I still lost. This week I've upped my DPs 3/day to 30. I feel like if I can lose being 100 over (which works out to about 41 per day, not including APs or WPs), then I can afford to go up a few points a day. I'm trying to find the sweet spot where I can still lose a decent amount (i.e. 1-2 lbs per week) and yet be able to stick within my pts. With as much as I have to lose, that should be possible. I can work on gradually reducing my intake even lower later on. I also went back to yoga this week. It's such a treat for me. It really feels like something I'm lucky to be able to do. I'm going to try to go to the gym this week as well. I've looked at my schedule and there is only one day where I won't be able to go - today. Hope you all are going well.

Hello Everyone
DotRen - You're a good Mom for making lunches for your son I hope the adjusted diet works for your dog too. Now - go plan your meals
sunrose - I'm glad your son shovels the snow for you, hope you can find some exercise to do.
irisinnia - Hope you can get some meals plans. I found I was more successful when I had at least a rough idea of my meals for the week. I need to get back to that.
wwlurker - I hope you an find that sweet spot with your points. You would think we wouldn't have to make so many adjustments but I guess our bodies are constantly changing, and our metabolism too, so it's always a challenge to find just the right amount of food to eat to lose weight. I'm glad you are treating yourself to yoga, I'm sure that's helpful with your busy life and family to take care of.
I did 90 minutes of shoveling snow and clearing snow from my cars this morning, so that was some good exercise. But I'm fine not to do that often
I really enjoyed that salad yesterday, and I have enough vegetables to make another one today. I do use a full fat salad dressing, but I figure since I don't add fat to a lot of my other food, it's one way to get some fat in my diet - and I just can't stand most of the fat free dressings.
I like walking inside. I can do it whatever time of day I want and for how long I want. Sometimes I watch a TV show while walking and I've figured a way to read a book on my Kindle while walking, so it makes the time go fast. I try to get my main walk in before noontime, otherwise the day gets away from me. I know I'm fortunate to be retired, so it's easier to do my exercise. I remember how hard it was when I was working, so I give all of you with families and still working credit for getting any exercise in.
Hope everyone has a great day!

QUESTION FOR YOU ALL:
For anyone who did the old WW Classic Points (Momentum) and also did Points Plus - what was the difference between them? Did you like one or the other better?
I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on Points Plus specifically, if you have any.
I did very good on Momentum and lost a lot of weight, but I feel like I just need to try something different for a little bit and I was thinking about Points Plus since I read so many people were successful on it.
Thanks for your thoughts. I may start a thread out on the General Discussion forum too.

cj59, I did both. I had much more success on Momentum than on PP. With PP, they also take into account protein and carbs. I felt as though carbs had a slight penalty. That does not work well for me as a vegetarian. The only time I've been able to do lower carb was when I was doing the specialized program I was doing back in early 2017. I lasted about three months on the program, mainly because it was so strict that I ended up rebelling. I did not do very well on PP. I did lose some weight, but not as much as I had on Momentum.

cj59, I came in on PP so I haven't done momentum. That being said I was very successful with PP. I ate all my dailies, weeklies, and about 3/4 of my activity points (I left 1/4 for any 'miscalculations'). It was also fairly easy to do the math in my head since it's roughly 40 calories = 1 point. Plus free fruits and vegetables! (and I was snarky enough to include peas and corn before freestyle). So I don't know how it compares to prior programs, but it's far superior to anything that came after. In my never to be modest opinion. lol

*Waves to wwlurker and cj59. wwlurker, Look at you! That's some awesome exercise planning and how proactive with the points! Are you adjusting Freestyle points? cj59, I cannot stand fat free dressings, but I'll dive into a salad with some quality ranch. What kind of delicious veggies are you putting into these salads? I really need to mix up my salad routine! Ugh! I made a plan, and the plan would've worked, but then there was a snack attack. Those kids lure me into it. They start snacking and I think, I need a snack! No, no I don't. That's where Beck comes in. I'm going to write a response card. Wish me better luck tomorrow!
