I’ll definitely get another dog, maybe two. Just not right now. Need to get settled in and figure out how to fence in the yard. The kitchen is moving slowly. Still waiting to get the gas line hooked up so I can use my stove.

OH wow, Holly, no gas to the stove all this time? That’s frustrating. So are you eating out every night?

A mix of eating out, Lean Cuisines, and cold stuff that doesn’t require cooking.
They still can’t connect it because now they’re saying that the range hood is not high enough.

Has anyone heard from JoAnne? She’s been absent a long time!
Heading to the studio for a long session today—planned out a “copper” pitcher to make for the Chinese New Year—I spent one day making a pattern—hope I got it right finally—I will carve some Year of the Rat images on it and the year—then will glaze it with my ancient copper glaze and hope it fires well—I tried it out on one littlewheel thrown pot and it was very like real copper even tho food safe. Missed the class where they made Year of the Rat bowls—they will display at a local art gallery for Chinese New Year—not sure mine will be good enough to be included but if not I will gift it to Jordan and his brothers (unless it turns out terrible). I think it will take all day to make it.
Having such beautiful weather here again—had about 3 pretty cool days and now it’s getting down to 53 at night and up in the low 70’s during the day. Walked to coffee this morning and was lovely.
Holly, did your parents lose their dog as well?
Sue, when does your cruise start next year?
I’ve been having parsnip pear soup every day—have to freeze the rest I guess—DH will eat it when I first make it but doesn’t then eat it during the week after and it’s a large amount.
I have been struggling with snacking lately—salty stuff not sweets—ugh—it’s always something. Eating an apple now—have to get back to apple only for a snack!
We got a new restaurant—near us—True Food Kitchen—they are in CA as well—love their Cauliflower polenta bowl!
Hope you all are doing well. We had zero trick or treaters!

Hi!
It's been busy lately. Last week was usual volunteering and some dr's appointments. The week before last was another girl's night out with my condo neighbors, there are four of us who get along very well.
Last Fri SO and I went to a James Beard Foundation dinner. We went 3 years ago, and they were back here in the city again this year (it goes from city to city). This time we got VIP tickets, where we got a hour extra of cocktail hour. It was really good. The city's best chefs provided all the food and with a special guest chef from Miami. The chefs are all James Beard winners or nominees. Of course SO did not think it was worth the money but I told him that was our anniversary present to each other.
Funny thing, I ran into one of my culinary school classmates at one of the hors d'oeuvres tables. He was kind of quiet, shy guy. He's been working at this particular restaurant (a very good one) for the past 2 years and likes it very much. I'm glad for him!
Saturday night we went out to the suburbs. One of my HS Sue friends won a party at a train station cafe from an auction at a charity event. It was nice to see some of her friends that I had met through the years but haven't seen in at least 15 years! Also saw her brothers and parents. Really nice to see them since Sue and I were good friends growing up and I used hang out at her house all the time.
Joan, I just made a batch of puree cauliflower soup. I love it. I actually think it can be used in place of cream in some recipes as a thickener.
Holly, were they able to resolve the range/gas issue?
The last we heard from Jojo was right before her CA trip, I think.
I'm starting to get stressed about the trip. Have to buy so many things. We're leaving first week of Jan, the ship will depart from Miami.
It has been unseasonably warm here. Today was in mid-60s. Not complaining!

Sue I have heard that you will be getting a cold spell down from the north this weekend. DGD15 is flying to NYC to visit her sister and it’s going to be so cold—wouldn’t you know it—same thing happened last year when she went for Thangksgiving. And here they have had all this beautiful weather. Today is nearly like summer here—must have reached almost 80.

Hi all,
We’re getting a cold spell this weekend and next week. I never know how to dress.
They’re coming to connect the gas next Thursday. A lot of things were dependent on the contractor doing his part. He’s been here all week, so I think things are finally starting to fall into place.
Sue, is this the really long cruise?

That will be really cool if you two get to meet!
We got a lot done on the house this week. They are supposed to connect the stove on Thursday “crosses fingers.” My sister just got a cat and named him Ziggy. Cats are so weird, lol. She is living with me while she’s finishing school. It’s kind of nice to just enjoy the pet without the responsibility for a little while, but I do miss Charlotte.

Holly, Joan and I are going to meet next week! One of these days I'll get to meet you too.
Really busy week. Last weekend a good friend, ex-colleague of ours passed away after 8 years of battling cancer. We were supposed to go to his wedding with his long time gf the weekend before Thanksgiving. Really sad. We went to the funeral and then to shiva the next day.
Did my usual volunteering on Tue/Thur. Went to see my parents on Wed. Went to a friend's art show opening on Thurs night.
Leaving tomorrow 7am flight for Las Vegas and have plans to have dinner with Joan and her DH on Monday! We will be looking at houses tomorrow afternoon, we'll see what happens.

We went to Harriet today—wonderful movie—Harriet Tubman’s story—it was so well done!
Looking forward to Monday—So excited to finally meet up—DH has been telling all our friends about Monday—I think he feels as though he knows you, too, Sue, since I often talk about your travels or your house hunting or culinary school back in the day!
Hollyt, I really hope you finally get an oven and stove hooked up! How nice to have your sister with you for a while!
JoAnne hopes to get back to posting soon—she and her DH have had a bad virus picked up in CA so are recovering and also knee deep in the remodel at home.
Tomorrow I’m going to studio and hope to pick up all the bowls I took in last Monday—I think they are fired—scared and yet excited to see them—so much suspense involved in pottery!
Has anyone been watching Life from Above on Netflix—OMG, it’s spectacular.

Such a busy and exciting week!
Monday after gym I went out to lunch with my old yoga pals and our teacher who moved away and was visiting.
Then Monday afternoon we went and picked up Sue and her SO—we had such a good time—I told Sue the anticipation must be something like these on line dating sites—talk to someone on line (only for years) and finally meet up! We drove out to our side of the city and up into the RedRock State Park—and then had a nice dinner out—what fun and so easy to slip right into face to face friendship—this was just a great privilege!
Today, gym, teeth cleaning, and then a pot luck going away party for our artist in residence who is a young woman that we all really love and will miss so much—she is moving back to her home town in Washington where she is getting in on the ground level of a new studio being started to serve students in needy areas—she is very excited.
I’m so tired—Tanzi woke me up so early this morning and this is my first time to relax—and sleep is chasing me down..

Vegas weather change—rainy like on Wednesday and some pretty decent showers today—yesterday parts of the city had some pretty strong hail—luckily not huge—about pea sized. Today the highs were in the 50’s—upper tho so not bad. We always appreciate a cloudy day and a bit of rain so this has been a treat.
Got my hair cut today—stood up and forgot my glassses were in my lap—and I stepped on them—lens popped out and the bow was pretty bent. So I ran to lens crafters and they adjusted them for free—it’s time for a check up anyway but I love these frames—cheapest ones I’ve ever had and my favorite!
Sculpted a sitting up dog the last few days—not large—about 5 inches tall. He doesn’t look too bad but I didn’t capture my grandson’s dogs face so will have to try again. Will glaze this one and consider it practice.
Our studio is closed today for the big move—opens the 6th with our Christmas party and cup exchange. They do it like a white elephant thing-=everyone’s cups are in paper bags so you don’t know whose you are getting.
We are having DGS15 spend two nights with us while DD and her BF have a staycasion. They will stay in the Cosmopolitan on the strip and have some alone time.
Wondering if you got your stove hooked up, Holly—when will we see before and after pictures?
Hope you got home with no travel issues, Sue.
JoAnne, just hope you are okay and get back eventually.

Hi all,
Sue, did you and SO like the house? Glad you all had a good visit!
So ready for a break. Work is just consuming everything right now. I look forward to having the time to read and try a new knitting pattern.
