Hi!
We got home Wed night. Uneventful flight, watched the movie Shazam on my cellphone. They have an app and you can watch on the phone/laptop or watch whatever film they're showing on the overhead screens.
I was going to volunteer yesterday, but was too tired, so had a relaxing day. Ordered my turkey for Thanksgiving. We will be going to my sister's house as usual. All my nephews will be there.
This morning SO and I went to get TSA precheck, he didn't realize his had expired, so on this past trip he had to go through regular security. I never had precheck, but whenever I traveled with SO, they would let me go through with him. But now I have it too.
It was great to finally meet face to face with Joan! It was so easy to talk in real life than typing everything out. Maybe one of these days we can have a SSG get together!
We left Vegas the day it rained, yesterday was nice here, but today is rainy, dreary.
Holly, we saw 5 houses and liked one. But not enough to buy it right away for the price they are asking, of course it was the most expensive one of them all.
Joan, thanks so much for taking the time to show us around! Red Rock was so beautiful. Your DH is very nice and just as I imagined he would be. Great evening with the two of you.
I'm glad we went Vegas, to get it out of SO's system. It's very nice there but I just prefer city living. I want him to exhaust most other possibilities so that he would consider looking here in the city more seriously. There are some houses he's still looking at in CA and I want him to go see them.
We're going out with ex colleague and his husband tonight. They're coming over then we'll head out to byob for dinner.

Sue, you’ve always seemed to enjoy the city. So much to do and see within walking distance. I would live in the city if it wasn’t so expensive. The cost of living here is really low, so it opens up opportunities to travel.
So we found a new gas company to hook up the stove. They are coming Tuesday, and the painter is starting Monday. Things are finally coming together, and I may actually get to unpack all these boxes by Christmas. “crosses fingers.” My BF couldn’t believe how many kinds of gray paint colors there were to choose from, lol.

Sue, I had told Gary before you came that I could not imagine your being out of the city and away from your sister and nephews and parents. Having been to NY so often now, I can see how living in the city is so very different—really handy if you are in the right area—like having a little town at your disposal but more diverse and full of everything cultural.
I have DGS15 this weekend as DD and her BF are having a Staycation down on the strip—we had such a good day. He and I went and got the dog and walked to Peet’s for coffee, then came home. A quick trip to Costco for flank steak and some mangoes. Then after lunch he and I decided to do a handbuilding lesson—so we each made Christmas candle holders—his has three trees and mine has two trees and a snow man (because we ran out of slabs big enough for another tree. Actually both are cute—his is made with a tree cookie cutter (large) and mine are freehand cut. He did really well—follows directions, sticks with it—it took us about 3 hours.
Then we had a special dinner—got crab legs at Costco—huge ones that were super tasty—one for each of us—and one for crab cocktail tomorrow. We just took the dog home and fed his cats and are going to watch some tv I think.
Holly, I’m glad you are finally going to be able to move forward with the house!
Oh, so heard back from Dr. about blood tests—do not need to do the bone marrow biopsy they were threatening and had scheduled—turns out my WBC count came up slightly—almost within normal range but my iron is way, way low—ferritin very low as well. She scheduled me for an iron infusion—4 hour IV drip of iron—have to have three of them—the last being 2 1/2 hours. I will start the 16th. So last night I touched it out and ate some grass fed beef—oh man, my stomach did not like that—had tightness in my gut all night and today—just beginning to go away now! I think I’m not used to anything that hard to digest any more. But this must be why I’m always cold, feel rather tired even tho I don’t give in to it, and am paler than I used to be. Will be interesting to see what happens after. Hoping JoAnne has some experience with this—I didn’t even know they gave iron that way.

Hi everyone, So glad that Joan and Sue got to meet- I’m sure it was fun ! Seems like I was away from the thread so long . So good of Joan to check on me . Both DH and O were so sick. Started in California. The air quality was terrible with the fires- smoke could be smelled every where. DGD got sick and we got something from her. I got seroisfs at the urgent care 3 weeks in to it. They helped some but we both got bronchitis. 4 weeks in we had a primary care yearly visit. He gave us antibiotics that seemed to help. But I guess it was 6 weeks befor e we were well.
Our downstairs is now finished- new floor, new ceiling and lighting, built in bookcases and desks with quartzite tops- also the bathroom has a new vanity and toilet- I’m happy!
I am hosting Thanksgiving this year for about 20, so have been frantically trying to get the downstairs back together and prepare for TG. Today started trying to also do a little on the yard( it is covered with leaves and pine straw.
I had thought I expulsions need having house guests also but that has changed- now no one.
Joan - it sounds like you are having trouble with anemia. So very sorry. Don’t know if you remember but I also did before the stomach surgery April a year ago. I had several iron infusions myself . I felt so much better after them - but it does take a few weeks for them to make you feel better. When is your first one to be?

Good to hear from you again JoAnne—hope you’ll post some pics on FB of the remodel when things calm down after TG! 20 for dinner—I’d be going nuts! Hope people are bringing stuff!
I will have only DD and her BF and DGS19 and Jordan and maybe his brothers. Making flank steak, chicken and salmon, baked potatoes, traditional bean casserole but from scratch not the canned soup kind (this was a request), two pumpkin pies (one vegan)and a Pear Almond torte. No apple pie this year—trying to cut down on peeling and cutting! LOL
I shopped for groceries at 4 stores today—only need one more thing. Am asking DD to bring a salad.
Cold weather hit us with wind today—felt really chilly out there being in the high 40’s and low 50’s all day. Supposed to get down to 39 tonight and 31 later in the week—as a low..
I didn’t know you also had iron infusions, JoAnne—glad to hear they work—I just did not realize how pale I had become until that dr. Pointed it out to me—now I feel like I look ghostlike! I worked a bit of grass fed beef into my beyond meat tacos tonight—also had kale salad for lunch with the rest of the crab on it.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from here in Vegas—they are predicting that travel in the west will be bad—bad weather coming in—snow in the Sierras predicted to cause some bad driving conditions.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Very thankful to have you guys here all these years. Jojo, glad you are feeling better now. Holly, very happy for you Joan, you'll feel so much better after the infusion Busy week here coming back from LV. Volunteered, and also bought an apple pie from my volunteer place. They make about 10,000 pies for thanksgiving to sell and profits go toward making free thanksving meals for their clients. Cooking my spatchcocked turkey now and making gravy to bring to my sister's house. Also bringing some hors d'oeuvres.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We went to Greensboro to eat with my dad’s side of the family. My uncle smoked the turkey. It was really good. There were about 20 people there, which gets overwhelming with the noise and trying to stay out of the way.
Hanging out at my parents’ for most of the day while the painters are working on my house. They are making a lot of progress.
Joan, my mom had that done. It made her feel better. Hope it does the same for you.

Just sitting and sort of taking it easy today—what was going to be a very quiet, sort of downer in some ways, Thanksgiving, turned into a blast—on Wed when I walked in from being at the gym, sitting in my family room were four people—my DD from Sac and DGD15 and DS from SLC and his SO—OMG, they planned this for two months—both drove down to Vegas and DH and I knew nothing about it! DH met them at the door and they had videoed him—it was so funny—he was in such shock. Then they both videotaped when I came in—it was so crazy—I couldn’t wrap my head around it for a minute—this bearded buy who looked like my son was sitting on the couch—and then I realized it was really them! They brought a couple pies (DD), dips they had made and soup homemade (DH) and we had a way better TG. I asked DD here to come by so I could talk to her a minute during one of her breaks between clients—she thought someone had died and then saw her sister and niece—was so funny to pass on the surprise.
So I never got to clean my house, hurried up and got beds made up and we had Thai food out that night and visited while I cooked pumpkin pie and prepped veggies the next day. We had late dinner as everyone had to see another family earlier—we played our crazy gambling game with quarters DH had gotten from the bank and DGS19 won all the money—24.50. That was neat. Jordan came to and DD’s boyfriend and DGS’s girlfriend. I had never gotten around to making or getting a centerpiece for the table but Cam the girlfriend brought me a pretty centerpiece so it was perfect.
That is the first time I’ve ever been totally surprised—was such a wonderful thing!!
Holly, did your mom take iron as well? Glad to hear stories of the infusions working.
Sue that is a lot of pies! Wow, how many people does that take?
Wondering how JoAnne survived dinner for 20! I understand about the crowd—it gets harder with large groups the worse the hearing gets—I know that now I am missing things. DGD talks so fast like other teens—hard for me to catch it all. I think I’m going to schedule a booth test again and see if my ears are getting worse.
Sue your days on land are numbered!! Hope you catch all good weather on the water!
DD drove back to CA this morning—lots of snow but she got over the high passes just in time—started hailing on the other side and was moving toward the pass. DS is still here—he is nervous about the roads today—lots of rain here and all over—there are a couple bad spots for snow between here and SLC. He is caulking my kitchen backsplash today—yea!— as it was cracked and combing out behind the sink. I am so happy as I hated the look of it.

Hi all,
Next week is exams. I have the final projects to grade and then do my graduate class presentation. Ready for some down time. The painters are making good progress, but it is taking them longer than predicted. They should be finished next week. After several months of living out of boxes and in the middle of renovations, it will be nice to have the house back.

So Holly, assuming you can cook now? Are you going to have Christmas at your house this year?
Sue, have you been buying new clothes for the cruise? I don’t know how I’d pack for nearly 3 months away! How many suitcases do you think you’ll take?
JoAnne, are you both back to feeling healthy? Hope so. Are you having another big family dinner at your house for Christmas/
Last night we finally had the studio Christmas pot luck and party and mug exchange. OMG, the studio is just beautiful and huge—separate large rooms for wheels and hand builders , beautiful windows in the wheel room. And huge skylights in all the other rooms so we have some natural light which is wonderful. There were about 80 people at the Christmas party and nearly 60 mugs brought for the white elephant style mug exchange. Out of all those people my name was last to be pulled—I stole a mug I really liked and then as others stole from others someone stole it back to me—and I stole a beautiful mug from a guy I often do handbuilder classes with—he’s very skilled and this is an awesome mug—white porcelain clay with a Matt finish on the cup part and a shiny glazed handle and inside—in a beautiful muted acqua==with carved winder leafless trees—it reminds me of Montana on a cold winter evening—in the winter when the sun would start to set the sky sometimes had a bluish almost sort of misty yet blue-ish look to it—anyway, I love my mug and no one stole it as it had been stolen the maximum amount. DH went with me and I think he enjoyed meeting lots of the people he’s heard a lot about.
Today I took the handbuilding class and moved my things back to the studio—clay and some supplies—and turned in some glazed items for firing. It was so fun to be back at it again. and see everyone again.
We went to fundraiser for a friend who takes St Judes Rance kids out school shopping every year—she spends about 50,000 on the kids every year so now has to do occasional fundraisers to help pay. We bought some raffle tickets but didn’t stay—really just a donation anyway. We went to dinner at a asalad place and then played to games with BF’s—left there early as I was so, so tired. No actual plans tomorrow—hope to see a movie.

Hi!
The days are flying by fast! Have been doing my usual volunteering, and lots of online shopping. Making lists, organizing for my trip. So much to do. Switching to new health insurance, applied for India visa, all of it needs to be done before we leave. Also got my hair cut and will get a keratin treatment a 5 days before we fly to Miami. Have been organizing and deleting files from my laptop and phone, upgraded my mobile global hotspot all in preparation for trip.
Joan, what a great Thanksgiving surprise for you! Your new pottery studio space sounds amazing, it's perfect considering that now it's even closer to you.
Holly, good luck on your presentation. It will be great for you once you can relax in your house and enjoy it.
Joan, hope you are fully recovered now and was able to enjoy Thanksgiving with family.
I've been buying a ton of stuff, new running shoes, water sport shoes, lots of new dresses (I know I will be returning a lot of items). Have ideas for xmas gifts but now have to do some comparison shopping. Will also have to start my high protein diet next week.
I think I will have 2 check in luggage and 2 carry on. One piece of luggage will have mostly shoes, haha. I have to make sure I have enough toiletries and makeup to last the 80 days, also our medications, I have been stocking up for awhile, so that is mostly set.
We will have free unlimited shipboard internet for the first time, so that is good for keeping in touch and I have the solis hotspot for our cell phones when we are on land.

Joan, I did finally get the stove hooked up. They’re painting the kitchen now, so I have to work around that. I did get a Hello Fresh delivery set for this weekend, so hopefully I can get back in to cooking regularly.
Sue, where are you going for this cruise? I remember that it is a global cruise, and you’re doing sections of it. Will you get to see some of the people that you met on the last ones? Haha about the shoes. I’ve been wearing the same ones everyday.
By the end of this week, the painting will be done and the semester will be over. Now just to hang on until then. I’ve finished grading final projects for one class, and need to do the other.

Joan- how wonderful your Thanksgiving surprise was! What a joy to have so many there. I’m such a perfectionist that it would have freaked me out If I hadn’t planned for the food and gotten the house ready- just one of my hang ups!
Ours went well. The weather was great and the kids played outside a lot of the time. We had tables set on the deck, The dining room and the living room. The good and company was great. My cousin who grew up with me is 82 this year; so we have decided to try to get together more often now-as you never know what might happen to one of us.
Christmas will be quieter, as it usually is. We will go to my son’s on Christmas morning for breakfast and take their gifts. We usually stay through lunch then come home and take naps.
Sunday night we went to the Cantata at Church. It was quite a professional and beautiful production. Very inspiring!
Tonight they are having a prime rib dinner kthere before the Walk Through Bethlehem that the youth do. It will be really cold. Went down to 31 last night and is doing the same tonight.
My fingers are about to fall off ! I have made 6 pair of socks in about 6 weeks for Christmas gifts. Wish I could get more done before the 25th.
I decorated last Saturday but didn’t do as much as usual this year.
I love the Christmas Season !
Holly- how exciting getting your whole new house pained! How many bedrooms do you have? What is your yard like? Are you decorating?
Sue- I had forgotten about your long trip coming up. Refresh me where you will go. Hope we will be able to hear from you during that time. Is it cold in Philly? Will you be in a warmer climate on your trip?
Happy Christmas Season everyone!!!

Joan- have you had the iron infusions? How did they go? I takes about 2 weeks to feel the effects but they certainly helped me!
