There were 28 people in our group led by two pastors who are good friends.
Yeah, it’s been hard to get back into the work routine.
I have gained weight in my legs, which seems odd with as much walking as I do. None of my pants fit right. Need to exercise more I guess.

Holly—if the heaviness in your legs does not disappear soon, go to the doctor—you may not have gained weight—it could be swelling from water collecting—don’t wait too long to have it checked. It doesn’t sound like you gained weight elsewhere so worries me a little.
I went to my new female doctor—she is ordering a full blood panel—including thyroid, RA, sugar, vit d levels, inflammation, cholesterol and something else—ANA or something. Anyway lots of stuff and I am also having a test to see what foods “are your friends and which are your enemies” according to the dr—she is concerned about my constant nasal drip—always thinking I have a cold coming on, sneezing fits, other issues that may be result of inflammation—even not being able to lose weight in spite of all the exercise. So am going in for the latter tests tomorrow—no fasting required. Will go back to the dr in 4 weeks to go over all the results.
We ate out tonight—had a shrimp cocktail, Mexican style at a Mexican restaurant near us.

Hi from Hong Kong!
I've been crazy busy. Saturday night my sister and her DH came into the city and we went to an Irish bar for an Italian dinner, haha. Yes, the small dining room of the bar is operated by an Italian chef. The food was great and very cheap considering that many high end Italian restaurants in the city would charge 3x more for same quality food.
Sunday/Monday so busy with packing and last minute stuff, mani/pedi on Monday, also clean out of refrigerator, gave away a bunch of food.
We got up at 4am Tues morning for 7am flight out of Philly to Dallas and from there16 hour flight to Hong Kong. So exhausted by the time we got here around 7pm. Rested up a bit then we had drinks and finger food at the hotel bar for dinner. At least SO has been here so many times that we knew how to get easily from airport to our hotel, he even had HK money from previous trips.
Holly, glad you had a great trip! Wets the appetite for more trips in the future.
Joan, definitely feel a little let down after trips. Last time, after 70+ days away, I was happy to be home, but felt a little lost in that I had to start taking care of myself and SO again. Got so used to having everything being done for me while on the ship.
I think we're just going to relax tomorrow. I need to sleep in after these last few days of not getting good quality sleep.

Wow, what a turn around, Sue—hard to believe you are boarding a ship soon again!
One of the things I like about traveling is not having to think about what to make for dinner—-it’s funny, I don’t resent the cooking—I do at times resent the thinking—like today—-finally I just pulled out some frozen spaghetti sauce and veggie meatballs and cooked some angel hair—with a beet salad. Thank goodness for freezers with leftovers in them!
Bought some groceries todaay so I could make some soup—thinking I will make soup and bread on Friday and invite the neighbors over for some. She’s always wanted to try my homemade bread.
We walked today—last week we had snow that did not melt in our backyard for four days—today was over 70º! Yikes—how does one handle this wild ride of weather? First walk is two weeks!
Went to the studio jjust for an hour and a half—cut out two more cat snack plates and pinched them part way—will finish the process tonight and iron sheets for housecleaning tomorrow. Washing towels now and rugs next.
They are finally firing my coil pot—can hardly wait to see how it turns out.
I like my new doctor—she is Chinese—believes in nutrition as a part of treating the body. So today I went in for a special blood test that she said will determine who my food friends are and who my food enemies are—if I choose to “play” with the enemies, I am totally responsible for my problems. She ordered other fasting blood panels as well—will go in for blood draw for those on Friday probably. She is reducing my BP meds to cozaar—was on HYZAAR the past few years—says it will be minus the diuretic and put me on nightly magnesium supplement which she said will reduce the BP the little extra that I need. Then we see how the BP is next time which is in about 3 weeks.
She wants me to get more omega 3’s—says my cholesterol is perfect except she would like the good cholesterol to be higher—it’s just slightly over the minimum—10 points over.
Tanzi is walking all over in front of my keyboard and wants to be petted=- better give in! Bon Voyage, Sue!

We're about to leave for the ship. Having a relaxing morning. It's going to be busy later, with settling in/unpacking and mandatory safety orientation. This ship is about 1 yr old, so everything will be very new still. We have been on the sister ship - 600 passengers - before a couple of years ago. The other 3 ships that we have also been on are 450 passenger ships. The 2 larger ones have larger restaurants and an additional sushi restaurant which I love.
Joan, you must have a ton of pottery now! Will you be giving some away as gifts? I always wondered how you could never lose more weight given how diligent you were with counting calories/fat/protein/carbs, etc and all the exercise that you do. Hope the new tests give you some answers.

Hi all,
This morning I did the bike. I am aiming for three times a week. Not feeling comfortable with this extra “pudge.”
Sue, have a great trip. How long is this one?
Joan, I’ll be curious to hear what you find out about the test.
Jo Anne, has it been raining about every other day down your way?

Holly- YES! I am so tired of the rain! As Joan says the weather has really been something to deal with. Today I went to the grocery store in a sweater and was freezing putting the groceries in the car. The last two days have been in the sixties but tonight it will be down to the 20’s! It sounds like the weight gain you have might be in your thighs, maybe from walking so much. If it is in your ankles, then you might worry about swelling and water retention.
Joan - hope you get some good advice the will help you. Your doc sounds on top of things Like Sue says, you must have quite a clay collection by now. Do you give some for gifts?
Sue- have a wonderful trip and check in when you can. That 16 hr. Flight must have been exhausting- I never can really sleep on a plane. You left at just the right time! There is a HUGE snow storm coming in to the NE! Funny that you had an Italian dinner in an Irish bar. You could have had a delicious Italian dinner and topped it off with a wonderful Irish coffee- I would have LOVED that myself.

Sue- wasn’t The Walking Dead’s last season awesome! I was afraid with Rick gone it would go downhill but NO.
Also did anyone watch the third season of Victoria? Soooo good!! And I was glad to hear that’s there will be a 4th season!
DH is becoming proud of his wt loss. It is so good to see him wear clothes that I have not seen him in for such a long time. She - not sure how much the Hard As Hoofs is helping my nails. I cannot remember to use it the 3x/day it is supposed to work used. They do seem a ittle better though. But I have left polish off and that helps too.

So I wrote two posts and hit create post but they disappeared—finally noticed that I was no longer logged in as a member—why I do not know. So logged in just now and will try to post this!
No idea what I had posted before but I did get all my cute little animals back—no dishes yet—I think they will be done by Saturday when I go to class again. I finished texturizing a vase at home—will take it in on Saturday as well. Today I bought jewelry at Claires for my elephant and mouse piercings.
Tonight my studio was part of an art display at the library near us—opening night—so I went—DH went over for a while. He seemed pretty interested in everything—actually I learned a lot as each case in the show showcased a different method of firing—had no idea there were so many different ways to fire.
Went out for dinner after with my teacher friend who got me started and just back.
My plan is to give gifts of clay projects to friends and family—want to get started on gifts about August. I have been collecting ideas on my Pinterest board.
JoAnne, it’s so neat that your DH is losing and now is probably more motivated than ever!
Holly, how is your class going? Were you behind when you got back?
I planted my garden over the weekend—planted the tomatoes completely this afternoon before leaving for the show—I lay them down for 3 days or 4 before planting and then plant part of the stem as well. So all but kale is in—must get that done tomorrow—this is really late for vegas gardening!d
One of my former students just published a book of poetry—her mom came to the show tonight and brought me a copy—I was planning to buy one on Amazon. The student is now 34 and lives in Brooklyn—which is where DGD18 is moving to—-she is moving out of the two bedroom super convenient apt—the roomate situation was not good. She will live alone again but in an actual apt since getting off Manhattan makes it a little less for a lot more. More expensive alone however. She auditioned and got into a dance intensive for July in NYC so she will be in NY all but June.
Gotta’ go—hope all is going well on the ship for Sue!

Hi! We're having a great time but it's really, really hot, mid 90s. Yesterday and today we're in Ho Chi Min. We walked around the city for hours, so hot and sweaty. Today we just relaxed.
Halong Bay on Monday, we did a junk boat tour and went inside this amazing cave, it was huge and full of strange formations. We may a couple who said it was more amazing than what they saw in the US and Europe.
Wed was Da Nang. SO didn't want to go on a tour so I went by myself. Visited a very nicely preserved town, the tour guide was very informative.
We met some nice people. I'm keeping up with my exercise, 6mi on sea days and 4 to 5 on shore days. Food is great as usual, champagne every day at lunch, today I had caviar for lunch, so good.
Saw that there's still cold temps and snow on the east coast, don't miss that at all!
Glad to see you're all doing well!

Good Morning, Vietnam!!—I can hear Robin Williams voice—just had to do that, Sue!
My friends from Canada just returned from Vietnam—they had some very hot days. Their biggest complaint was the overfeeding of their small tour group—it bothered them to be participating in 5 and 6 course meals with the worst poverty around them—and they couldn’t possibly eat all the courses so they worried that all this food was wasted.
Had my clay class on Saturday—we made decanters—mine is fully constructed and looks pretty cool but have not done any texturizing or decorating yet.
Yesterday I made a multiseed cracker recipe from nothing but seeds and water and spices—OMG, they are so yummy—took some to our friends who travel all the time in the summer—she is from Netherlands and absolutely loves seeds—they loved them. Kind of nice to eat a cracker with no preservatives and relatively high proportion of protein.
Woke up at 2 am and couldn’t get back to sleep so finally after half an hour I got up and just drew pottery ideas for about an hour—went back to bed and fell asleep. I have early 8:30 body sculpt and dance today—will be a little harder because I’m not feeling fully rested.
Now it’s saying it will freeze tonight! The weather is all over the place! I will have to cover every tomato—my arugula and radishes are up already.

Hey all,
We have today off for Spring Break. I will probably get my tax stuff together and work on my classwork and grading for the class I’m teaching.
The university I work at is going to the NCAA tournament for the first time! Hope we don’t get matched up with UNC :-).
Sue, sounds like a lot of great experiences. Good job with the exercise.
Joan, that’s similar to how I felt when we went to Jamaica after just having done a mission trip to Honduras, except that the foodbin the resort was so so.

Good morning everyone! Got up early and went for the big blood test today—just did a drop in and going at 6:20 am there were only five people ahead of me—home by 7:15–so that was easy. Sometimes the wait here at labs is ridiculous.
Only four of us at book club last night—so many are having health issues with spouses, parents, etc., that along with several who moved we are getting smaller and smaller—last night was the beginning the the 17th year. We are reading Where the Crawdads Sing for April and Educated for May—heard that the former was fabulous writing.
Wonder where in the word Sue is—reminds me of that 80’s software game Where in the World is Carmen San Diego—do you remember that?
So,, so sad about N Zealand—and he patterned his violence on US example. We are in so much trouble with this resurgence of white supremacy.
Going to get nails done at 9 and gym at 10:30 till 12:30 and then clay studio. I bought buttons yesterday to press into my latest project to make a floral textured blouse—made a bottle that looks like the top half of a woman’s body—my head I sculpted will be the “cork” in the bottle—just gave up on making the marionette that the project began as—I like my idea so much better—it’s actually kind of funky. Will go in and decorate her blouse this afternoon and roll out a slab and cut tiles—I am dying to make tiles to texturize and try different glaze ideas. I have another class tomorrow at 10 for 3 hours but DH wants me to come home after and do my other work today.
Spring warm weather is headed out way—supposed to reach the 70’s today—but until today it’s been windy and chilly. Maybe I can get some kale planted late today or tomorrow.
My new car is supposed to come in a week and a half—a Subaru Forester—it’s really safe==lots of new features—it tells you if you are not keeping your eyes on the road—keeps you from interacting with your phone. It has facial recognition so when you get in it adjusts your mirrors, seat, temperature, etc,—I’m looking forward to driving a smaller vehicle yet it’s higher off the ground than a regular car.

The day after my last post we got a call from Subaru who had emailed the day before saying the car would be here end of July—but it came the next day. So Friday I started driving my new car—blue—its exactly the right size for me and gets awesome gas mileage. I drive a lot now that I am doing my clay work so often at the studio. We have not had a car that’s not white for about 20 years! It’s a Forester.
So excited to finally have all my plates done with the cat theme==next time we play cards I will be using them.
I am going grocery shopping soon—so out of stuff! No fruit here and not enough greens for salad=-skipping studio time today to do laundry and shopping—did gym this morning.
we have had several spring days with sun and now it’s clouding up again—someone said more rain tomorrow. At this rate we will double our average annual rainfall!
Horrible news about Mozambique—they said at least 400,000 are homeless after that cyclone! That’s almost impossible to conceive!

Finished taxes!!
Have been knitting like crazy making gift socks for sister and grand daughter and some for myself. A little guilty feeling about dedicating so much time to this since I need to get out in the yard and do some work.
Planning for a family trip to California to DS’s with the whole family. I am so excited we will have everyone together. Had thought we might go to the beach but decided that since DS’s family from here hasn’t ever been there, we will sightsee instead. We will go for two weeks and DS’s family will fly out for five days. We will go in July..
Glad to hear Sue is having a good time.
Next week will be busy- taking my old nursing school roommate .clothes shopping . She does not drive anymore and was complaining that her husband doesn’t like to go shopping with her. Also will play Bridge with my Bridge group and will substitute either the Bridge group at our old church.
