Little update: I've been picking lettuce and green onions as needed and this morning I picked a few radishes. There's enough spinach for an omelet or two, too---it's growing better than I thought it would after less-than-great germination. Phase II is up and running. A few pics. Some radishes and lettuce for my lunch and the sprouting Phase II.

I just joined this group, and also love to garden. I can't really plant food though .. we have lots of deer that like to visit us! But I want to get some growlites to start flowers. You have inspired me!

I just joined this group, and also love to garden. I can't really plant food though .. we have lots of deer that like to visit us! But I want to get some growlites to start flowers. You have inspired me! I gave up on veggie gardening here too---lots of deer, rabbits, woodchucks, etc, all looking for a free meal! Growing veggies in containers might be something you could look into if you have a raised deck. I've been doing it for years now and nothing except the bugs bothers my containers. It's limited, of course (no corn!!) but you can still enjoy some nice vegetables in the summer. Tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers (in a big pot with a trellis), and all kinds of herbs do well in containers. I hope you have fun with whatever you do! A pic of herbs and tomatoes in my deck planters: And one of the little guys that keeps me from doing a big in-ground veggie garden, in my front flower garden:

LOVE IT!!! Thanks! A bit overkill for my needs, lol. The toothache plan is interesting---who knew? And I wonder why they are growing so many marigolds.
