Being able to walk farther than I used to and being able to buy the same size in thrift shops that I can buy in the higher end shops(something I have never been able to do before).

I love having more stamina to walk easily. Fitting into nicer clothes is definitely a bonus and receiving compliments is nice. And having the doctor say all of my blood work is perfect is priceless!

My biggest "worth-it memories are my trips to New York City, especially if we do a lot of subway travel. Another is any time I need to fit in a small space. When I use to do filing in a file room at my volunteer job I was very thankful that I had lost my weight.
Linda: I forgot about how great it feels to pass my blood work each year.

At my lowest weight (5 away from goal), I felt very empowered that I could shop for clothes that I liked, instead of clothes that made me look less fat. I also had good memories of attending large family events and knowing I looked great, though I have to say, when you lose a noticeable amount of weight and people ooo and ahhh over you saying things like "Wow, you look great!", it did make me feel weird in the underlying message, which I took to be "wow, you looked awful before but you look so much better now!" I wonder if anyone else hear felt/feels that way when people notice your weight loss?

I wonder if anyone else hear felt/feels that way when people notice your weight loss? I think a lot of people might think that way when getting all of the attention on the weight loss. What happened with me was I ran into a younger couple I knew at Wal-Mart. Went up and was talking to them and they had no idea who I was (I had lost 80 pounds). I introduced myself and they made a big fuss over my weight loss which was dramatic. I remember standing there and almost feeling offeneded. I wanted to say: wait a minute, I was still me at 210 pounds.

That first time I looked in the mirror and really thought I looked skinny in a pair of skinny jeans. That was a big one. Seeing on paper the difference in my blood work was another worth it moment.
