This thread was started before the dawn of time by Amazons who needed to compare their stats with other Amazons. Over time it grew into a community of incredible women who try to keep their spirits in the clouds and their feet on the ground, moving toward health. Most of us start at 5'7 and go up from there, from young singles to wise and lively elders of the tribe. We welcome newcomers who are willing to be kind and share a bit of their lives.

Good morning! Flying through here. I got sucked into a pile of papers for hours on end yesterday and did not make it here, but I enjoyed reading the posts of those who did.
Frieda, if it's been awhile, the wording changed a few years ago in random-to-the-layperson places, but do trip one up. Someone needed to bring the word "consubstantial" out of mothballs and give it an airing.
Aside from all that grading, my big accomplishment this weekend was stripping my fridge down to the walls and giving 'er a good scrubbing. Menus planned, groceries acquired, laundry done, meals prepped.
Melinda, my own outspoken kids used to not be happy when I communicated with management (always politely) about something amiss, but I think it's better to tell them and give them a chance to remedy a situation than just dis them online. (Since they have both worked in food service, they now see the value of a justified comment.) Still, it's a shame that she accepts poor treatment from someone she thinks she's dating. Linda, I laughed at the semi-annual nature of a Sunday of adult conversation.
Anne, when do your adventures in my area begin? May? I am so looking forward to coffee time with you again.
The long list of get-to's awaits.

GM Cats! I'm just trying to straighten up and put random things away. Which always takes longer than expected. I'm having trouble writing in my thankful journal. I have decided today is going to be WW day. Well, off to get busy! I'll check in later.

Good Morning, CaTs, and T and Frieda. One furry cat on my lap and cup of tea is empty. I need a refill to face this day. Such a busy weekend I didn't even read these CaT pages til now and that rarely happens. My DGF came, stayed over til work this am, and we sorted, cleaned out places, and made piles to go here and there. Exhausting but invigorating and definitely got the ball rolling. We did go out for dinner on Sat, got some necessities.
While we were at it, we got about 10 inches of snow, still coming down a little. Blowing in the forecast for later. I have a boatload of piano. Most schools delayed two hours, a few are closed. DD has told us she will be going through the commencement process in May, with schooling to continue through Dec. She's happy; we're happy. But it means we have something every weekend in May before we depart. So I have come to the conclusion I must end my second job sooner than I wanted, just to free myself up and be able to get my ducks in a reasonable row. Unhappy about that but must prioritize. Working on adjusting to all things.
Frieda, while a thankful journal is a beautiful and valuable thing, maybe you are more in need of a free-to-be-you journal. Vent, say what you'd like to, get things off your chest, happy moments, sad feelings, angry thoughts, wishes, regrets, plans, intentions, lists of favorite dog breeds or lipstick colors. ANYTHING. Hugs and support to you.
Have no doubt you were missed, T. Good luck with all the grading, piles of yada, yada. Do you have a break coming up? I have to get through this week, then will have at least school vaca from piano next week (despite possible make-ups) even tho WW will go on. I am ready for it, also a break from unrelenting winter. We aren't leaving for break but 40's are forecast (if you believe a week ahead). And there will be much digging into the housemess.
My best to all our CaTs - Nancy, Linda, Melinda, Anne, and those who will appear as today marches on. Off to fill my cup and face today's responsibilities. Have a great Monday

Aloha, Long and Lovelies!!!!!
It was a fun weekend. We saw the Lego Batman movie on Sunday with the boys - 3 out of 4 really enjoyed it. DSS did not enjoy it, as he could not appreciate the satire - he takes his Marvel characters very seriously. Sigh. Sometimes ya just gotta lighten up.
The trip to Spain is a long time coming for me. I was a Spanish major in college and didn't get to go abroad. I've never been to Europe, either, so it is quite exciting. It will be just DH and myself in July. We are taking all 3 kiddos to the beach for a week in June, and DS to DW in December. Busy, busy year! I may try to fly up to MI at the end of the month for DMom's procedure, if she has it. She has an appointment with her surgeon this week, so we shall see. They are somewhat reluctant to operate on her because of her blood thinners. Her cancer is slow-growing, so apparently that means that there is no great urgency. Personally, I would really like them to get it out. I would sure feel better. We shall see.
Lynne, I just wanted to let you know that your frustration is normal. And the anger. And every other emotion you are experiencing. What you are going through is difficult and life-changing. We are all here for you, both the ups and the downs. So glad to hear that you sound better today - sounded like the weekend was a bit rough. Curious to hear how you and Linda like the new WW plan.
T, "consubstantial," huh? I'll have to look that one up.....I bet your refrigerator looks gorgeous! I still remember the time my DDad called me, all proud of himself that he was cleaning out the refrigerator for mom (he was retired at the time, but she was still working). When I asked him if he was also cleaning out and wiping down the drawers, he admitted he wasn't. He sounded very disappointed when I told him he had to do that too. It was funny.
Linda, how old was the little girl you walked with yesterday? I'm happy to hear that DD3 is doing well. I want to hear how you like the new plan as well.
Anne, still quiet in your neck of the woods?
Melinda, how disappointing to hear of DN dating such a jerk. I hope she figures it out....
Karla, how are things going up north? Any signs of Spring yet?
Andrea, snow?
Gosh, I am sure that there is more, but I am drawing a blank. Hugs to all!!!

Shari, you snuck in while I was typing! All that snow made me shiver!! Sorry to hear PT job #2 has to be put on hold for a while; at least you are able to recognize it now, before you drive yourself crazy!!

Morning, ladies! Ah, MCAT, I hope you enjoy Spain. I loved my time there as well as Portugal, although I had some linguistic lapses in Portugal! I would want that cancer out, too, I think. Frieda, MCAT speaks wisely as does Melinda. I haven't been where you are, but I have respect and admiration for the steps you are taking now. I am sorry that it sucks so hard. I am thinking about you every day. T., GL with the grading. There are three men making very large holes in my house this morning! We ordered new windows for the third floor and new French doors out to the deck in December, and today they are being installed. It's loud, messy, and distracting, but I think it will be a vast improvement in several ways. We chose an arts and crafts style for the new windows. We would've done more, but this was all we could afford for now. We'll get a few more in time. Trying to work, but not expecting a super productive morning. The Shakespeare workshop was rough sledding Saturday; several of the kids are so low energy and one, who has both been bullied and then bullied others, has decided to take her anger out on me (not my male teaching partner). Trying to think though constructive strategies to try to help her succeed. The weekend is a blur with these teaching days. DH & I got a five-mile walk around a lake yesterday, which was delightful. More anon ...

O, wanted to mention, for those fighting the late winter fluff: I have lost six pounds since the beginning of January, and have been tracking pretty regularly for the past two weeks (I may have eaten too many cookies yesterday). My record is far from perfect, but about 3x/week to see Gym and lots of walking combined with tracking. We know it works. We can do this.

Yay Pkate- so glad the plan is working for you! I'm also down some. I'm still in the 170s but inching much closer to the 160s where I want to be. How exciting on the home redo. It will make it seem so fresh.
MCAT- I'm glad it's just the two of you for Spain. Traveling would be tough for DS. My DH's cancer is also slow. He recently had a good report which is awesome!
T- I was able to get my car & house cleaned yesterday. It was probably 6 months since I was able to do the car. Winter is so tough here in Iowa. My next task will be the fridge. It's pretty bare now since DH is gone so it should be easier.
Shari- is the second job the WW one?
I talked to Tina for quite a while last night. She's doing great. Her DH is only 53 & he's retiring this summer from the school & then he's going to work with her. I referred my TX gf to her since she wants to go to Fiji. Tina has been so helpful with my cruise. She thinks of everything!
DM & DSis are coming over tonight & I think we will go out for Chinese. I've found that's something I do fine with. I really like the egg drop soup & the seafood dishes.
We are having warmer temp here for the next couple weeks. That's so important since I won't have the truck to get out of the driveway. DH arrived in FL & sent pics of our spot. I'm so glad he was able to go. He made it to FL in good time.
Take care ladies.

Forgot to mention DN & I saw 50 shades. Not very good acting but she enjoyed it. The theatre was so cool! They served great food & drinks during the show. We had a little desk in front of each chair. I suppose businesses are having to be more creative to get people to leave their home big screens & Netflix.
Anybody watch The Walking Dead last night? Such a creative episode. I won't spoil it with details. I did watch some of the Grammy's too but got annoyed with all the politics. I thought of Karla when Paris Jackson asked if anyone wanted to go do a pipeline protest. Now that I know how destructive it all us I wanted to yell at the tv- Shut up Paris!

G'moaning to all~ MIA due to DH hogging the computer. Guess I'll have to start kicking him off or set up a schedule so I can get on over weekend. Went to WW meeting on Sat., scale was up. I am headed to do some exercise very shortly. Menus from Friday on: Spanokopita, Fajita Pork Skillet, Skillet Apple/Raspberry Pancake, Bulgur Pilaf and Moussaka in Minutes. All have been fixed before and are from different WW cookbooks. Cinderella chores to be done along with laundry. Got texts from DSis, DMom fell on Friday evening. Suspected UTI and high calcium levels. It's official that she can't live on her own as too forgetful. Currently in hospital where Sister's husband works. They have a Transitional Care Unit, which will be helpful if something happens. I need to look more into temp to hire positions. I made an appt. to see Dr on Weds. to go over meds, concerns and see if Vit D levels have gone up any. Off to a late start to my day.... Thinking of all and sending HUGS martha

Good Evening. My advisor sent me an email that he would call me today about something and I haven't received a call. A watched phone doesn't ring. Anyhow, it's driving me CRAZY. TRULY and MADLY. I liked your advice Shari. That might be more helpful than grateful. Kate: I bet the craftsman windows are divine. Will the new doors let in more light? New windows are great! You'll be snug for sure. Sorry about that person taking anger out on you. Mcat: the program hasn't changed any since last year that I can tell. However, it has been enough time away for me that it seems fresh. Frieda.
