Happy Valentine's Day to all! We woke up to violent storms in our area: tornadoes, high winds, rain, and lightening. We've already had 1.5" of rain but the storms should move out of here later this morning.
I'll grill steaks tonight for our Valentine's Dinner.

Well, I got a blood test today for the endocrinologist. I've just been very absent minded, tired, and struggling a little with my weight recently. And I'm foggy while I'm fencing. My numbers were borderline on the last visit and I didn't get a meds increase. On the other health news, my neck started hurting again, and I increased the turmeric from 2xday to 3xday, and my neck is improving WITHOUT steroids. This is a first. I guess my goals are to get the health issues in control. I have the follow up with the endocrinologist on Friday. Happy Valentines Day!

Tammy How much turmeric do you take? The only time I see turmeric is in mustard. I'm hearing this is a good supplement to take for pain. Hope you feel better soon.

We had a fire extinguisher explode in our laundry room this morning. Everyone and the cats are okay but the place is a mess. My husband is handling everything and the insurance will pay for everything to be cleaned. Ugh! Am calming down because things could be worse.

My plans for today are to get a nap(LOL)and rest my knee that's still stiff from the injection yesterday.I plan to stay OP and walk a little if the sun comes out and the wind dies down.Maybe the weather will be better tonight and we can go out.My DH just walked in and handed me the most beautiful sweetest card I have ever gotten for Valentines Day.We may have not been married as long as linda72 and her DH but he's still a keeper after 32 yrs.

@beckyw2016 So sweet of your DH to get you a card. My DH and I stopped buying the cards. Now that we're retired, we're usually shopping together. A few years ago, we looked at cards together, picked out 2 for each other, read them and then put them back without buying! It became a joke so we've continued doing that! LOL!!

Becky, I like that your plan is a nap! I might have to co-opt your plan too!
Happy Valentine's Day Beckies!
To those asking, turmeric is supposedly a huge anti inflammatory and overall good for your health spice that has been used in Indian ayurvedic medicine for centuries. If you're interested, Google it, there's a ton of reading material on the internet about the benefits of turmeric.
I travel to Asia often for business and picked up a habit there, a great elixir tea that is used from India and Nepal to SE Asia. Into a large mug I grind a couple of good turns of black pepper, about a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, a nice glob of local honey, and grated fresh ginger to taste. Add boiled water and stir well. You need to be careful about the amount of turmeric if you're not used to it because it can leave a "dry" taste on your tongue, but if you ease into it, you wont notice it at all. There are many vitamin brands that now have turmeric in capsule form, which is best if you want to take it regularly. From what I understand, there is no down side to taking it. I prefer an Indian brand you can get at Whole Foods called Himalaya. They use vegan capsules, and their ingredients are 100 organic, grown on site in India under strict aryavedic supervision. No taste at all. I figure it cant hurt, right?!
Weekly Goal: Get tracking back under control and go to ballet twice a week again.
Me Time: It's sad but I think I need to start organizing my taxes...I know, not exactly 'me time' you were looking for but...it'll make me feel organized. Oh, and start cleaning up my office.

Taxes, ugh! This weekend I spread out the tax organizer worksheet from my tax person and all the collected 1099-Rs and charity receipts and property tax statements and stuff on a big table in the basement. It's all now in an envelope on my desk, waiting for me to take to my tax appointment next month. I wonder what the tax hit will be!
DH has usually been able to find sweet cards for Valentine's Day. He is much more thoughtful about such things than I am. We got some roses last week, and I thought that would stand in for V Day. But today he surprised me with more roses!
Judy -- Too much excitement. I'm not sure it would have occurred to me to call the insurance company for something like that. I would have just sucked it up and cleaned up the mess.
On top of chocolate over the weekend, we ate at a Chinese place in the mall on Sunday. Today I'm suffering from the sodium bomb. Tomorrow is weigh-in. Oh well.
I don't know what me-time will be this week.

Carol Ann: I don't know what I would have thought if it was just me. My husband thought of calling the insurance company. This is a big mess. It was a large fire extinguisher. We have an office, family room, laundry room and bathroom downstairs. Everything is covered with a thick layer of the powder that was in the fire extinguisher. All the electronic equipment down there, two desk top computers, two printers, a desk top scanner, and any photo equipment is also covered in dust. All has to be vacuumed because water turns to powder acidic. Upstairs isn't as bad but the drapes and rugs have to be cleaned plus everything else. The stuff in the linen closet and two coat closets has to also be cleaned.
We won't know until later if the electronic equipment needs to be replaced, same with the washer and dryer, the TV and sound equipment upstairs.
Thankfully it didn't get in the upstairs bathroom and two bedrooms. The cats are in what we call the radio room and are not happy. Serve-Pro is here cleaning know and will be here tomorrow so the cats are going to be upset with the noise and people in the house. At least in here they can find a place to hide and feel safe.

bbbearsmom Wow, Judy, I never imagined the problems that arise from a fire extinguisher. Thank you for telling us. I may have to locate mine differently. Actually, I probably should replace it as it's old. I guess they have expiration dates. Hmmmm, you learn so much on the message boards! surfgirl Thanks for the information about turmeric. I will copy your tea recipe and do some research on Dr. Google to learn more. ladymajky I've sorted my tax information too but need to spend the time inputting it into Turbo Tax. Not hard, but I try to be very careful with the numbers. We don't get our final tax statement until March 15 so I've got plenty of time. @beckyw2016 Enjoy your nap!

Carol Ann: Also my husband has been a local reporter photographer for years and covered fires. He's been at fire scenes where the cleaning company showed up even before the fire department cleared.

Glad you won't have to do all of the cleaning.
