Yes, that really stood out to me too, Linda. That and the one about how the Rs are not asking anything at all about Trump, only focusing on Cohen's wrong doings which he has already pled guilty to. These Rs are far worse than Cohen. They took an oath to protect the country, and they are doing anything but.

Some over-the-top performances today that's for sure. Raging for an audience of one. In the end, I don't think they helped JA at all. Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan of the Tea Party/Freedom Caucus, for years represented a minority of the GOP but, wielded a crazy power. Remember the Boehner days? They ran him out on a rail along with many other moderates with their implacable tactics and their purity tests. Their mission wasn't to serve government but, to destroy it and bipartisanship was a dirty word. I'm not surprised that these guys pledged loyalty to JA early and sought to do his bidding. When at first JA couldn't get the more moderate and moral members of the party on board with his agenda, he sent in Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan to whip (pun intended) them into shape.
It depresses me that everything is so partisan. My take away is that JA will ultimately get his comeuppance.

My take away is that JA will ultimately get his comeuppance. Oh I hope so! And I hope everyone of these enablers will get their just desserts too.

Three things that stood out to me today from the hearing: 1) Cohen appeared to be a very credible witness, and I can't see anything he'd have to gain by lying to Congress at this point. I believed him. I also thought it made him even more believable when he defended the JA against the allegation that he might have hit Melania by saying that he did not believe Trump would ever do that. He could have just said he didn't know anything about it, but instead he defended him by strongly stating he did not believe that was true. 2) The Republicans on that panel showed themselves to be disgusting sycophants of the JA, and far worse than anything Cohen did in my opinion. At least Cohen never swore to uphold the Constitution or protect our democracy. That's not to say I don't think Cohen deserves his jail sentence. I just think those Republicans on that panel are worse. 3) A requirement for being on the House Oversight Committee must either be that you have a cast iron bladder or that you have great trust in Depends, because I thought they were never going to take a break! LOL

Joyce, you made me really lol about the oath thing. Haven't you heard liars love to take oaths?
I didn't watch. Not a fan of bullies, soap operas, or self righteous twits. I want to slap them every time I see their ugly, smirking, phony faces. They don't even have to open their lying mouths.
I knew I'd hear and see all about it all day and night anyway.
Welcome home, Joyce! Nice to have you back.

DH and I have been saying this since day 1 of Trumps administration.
"Given my experience working for Mr. Trump, I fear that if he loses the election in 2020, that there will never be a peaceful transition of power,” Cohen told the House oversight committee at the end of his hourslong testimony."

Cohen revealed some damning things and he definitely provided the committee avenues to further investigate. And, that check signed by JA was a doozy! I couldn't watch all day but, I did happen to catch AOC's five minute segment this afternoon. I thought she did well and managed to get a few more names into the record and for the committee to call in to testify. At least she didn't engage in any grandstanding anyway. For the republicans that chose to admonish Cohen rather than to ask and learn something on behalf of the American people, history remembers.

That was a scary statement Anne. It really jumped out at me too. Given any other administration, I would have laughed that off as an impossibility, but with this administration I think absolutely anything bad is within the realm of possibility. Heck! Maybe he'll declare a national emergency, martial law, and proclaim himself a dictator. He's just egotistical enough to try it. And his followers would be all for it. Please God, just get him out of there before the country is totally destroyed.
Pat, the hearing was very interesting, but you're right that it would have had you pulling your hair out. I really badly wanted to give some "testimony" myself to a few people, aka Republican committee members. If there is anything in my life that I am proud of right now it is that I am NOT a Republican.

Linda, that is maddening and very sad. He's destroying everything around and leaving devastation for our grandchildren. Once these things are gone, they are gone forever.

Linda, I can't watch those kind of things.
If there really is a god or goddess than the creation of human beings has to be, imho, their Peter Principle.
We are supposed to be stewards of the Earth. We have failed miserably. We are destructive, deadly, dangerous monsters. Other than that we're okay.
