I had to look that word up. I don't think we will see any comity coming from this WH either,Joyce.
I won't be watching. I switch the channel whenever I see him on there so why would I purposely tune in?
Nothing but more lies and deceit anyway. Plus, he makes me gag. Who needs that?
Joyce, sorry about your Mom and I'm happy to hear she is okay.
Hugs!!!

Don't forget - lies, deceit and needling, trolling, antagonizing. He is actually good at all those (just not good at anything else!)

So how many of you watched the SOTU? For the first time ever, I did not and neither did DH. Personally, I think we are better off for having skipped it. I know it would have raised my blood pressure. When he reads a teleprompter, he can do o.k. The problem is when he's being himself and not just reading words off a screen that he didn't write and mostly doesn't mean. I think his Twitter account gives far more insight into who he is and what he actually will or will not do than any speech. I also missed Stacy Abrams response, as I was just exhausted from the night before in the ER with my mom and went to bed very early. Did any of you hear that? How was it?

I saw bits and pieces and Nancy Pelosi was clapping like a trained seal lol. Why? Why reach forward to clap? I don't know why that bugged me but it really did.

Linda, I love you, but please keep your cold temperatures up there. It's warm now -- already 67* at 8:00 in the morning, but the wind is blowing like crazy and bringing in cold air. It's supposed to be down to 20* by tonight. No thank you!
Looks like the JA is finding out that life is not so easy when you don't have control over Congress. Lots of investigations are about to be started, and personally I think they are all more than justified. I doubt they will even have to dig very deeply to uncover lots of unsavory actions, even if they are technically legal. A little more digging is bound to bring out a lot of illegal actions, I believe.
The Republican congressman (can't remember his name) who tried to get the fathers of the Parkland shooting victims thrown out of the hearing yesterday just made my blood boil in the clips I saw. He must have drunk an entire pitcher of the Kool-Aid before the meeting started because he kept deflecting and trying to make this all about the JA's wall with little to no concern about victims of gun violence. These men lost their children to senseless gun violence, and yet he could care less and didn't mind letting the world know it as long as the JA saw that he was standing up for a wall.
This morning the congresswoman from El Paso was on Morning Joe. She was not a happy camper about the JA saying in the SOTU that El Paso prior to a wall was one of the most dangerous cities in the country and magically a wall made it become super safe. She says that was all a lie, and she has written a letter to the JA asking for an apology for El Paso. Fat chance of that, but at least she's making her point heard. I've never spent any time in El Paso, but I've driven through it many times. It always looked like a clean, nice city from I-10 which does go right along the border. You can see Mexico on one side and El Paso on the other from the Interstate. Other than that, all I know about El Paso is that once you hit Texas at Texarkana it's a looooooooong way before you hit El Paso.

I think JA has also designated El Paso as his first rally stop this year. I wonder what kind of reception he will get there (?) I'm happy the Congresswoman from El Paso called JA out on his lie, but, I don't think he will even ever see the letter. I'm sure his staff will keep that from him so he doesn't throw a temper tantrum.
I did see the clips of Rep Matt Gaetz at that hearing. It was awful! But he is also in the pocket of the NRA, so what do you expect!
Well, Joyce...what can I say...LOL...It was -15 Below actual temp this morning...I would even take your 20 above in a heart beat...Up here we call that Winter Banana Belt Weather. LOL

Also the El Paso Sheriff has twice called out DT on his false claims about the city's safety record. He (the Sheriff) says the city has always been one of the safest and there was no change either way when a wall went up.

So Matt Whittaker can just defy Congress? How is that possible? He says he won't testify unless they promise not to issue a subpoena thus allowing him to just talk about whatever he wants to talk about. I didn't know anyone could defy Congress. Can he get away with that?

I remember a song by Marty Robbins called El Paso. I think it was in the late 50's or early 60's.
It's stuck in my head now. I'm ok with that. It was time for, "It Only Takes A Moment" to get out of there anyway.
Lol.

birdgal , I remember that song. Something about "strolling the streets of El Paso,... I fell in love with a Mexican girl..." I think it had a tragic end, although the tune was upbeat.
