It's becoming apparent, there will be two themes they continually hammer for 2020; anti-socialism (as if) and 'the radical left' using pictures of OAC and Omar (in her hijab) respectively. Just ugh. Yes, just a continuation of the let's keep the mob mentality afraid of anything that is "different" or doesn't think exactly like they do, and working hard to keep that hate and intolerance going strong. Yes exactly, and wrap it all up in an immigration tortilla, and it's food for the base.
Someone tell JA Jr to pick a look already. Slicked back hair with a beard, is like maple syrup on sauerkraut.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! Wow! Yesterday was not a good day for Paul Manafort. There is a lot of smoke coming from the Trump campaign about Russia, but are they actually going to uncover the fire? With so much continually coming out, with so many people on the campaign lying about it, etc. it seems impossible for any reasonable person not to believe that "something" was going on. I just hope that we will eventually find out what that "something" was, and that it will find its way directly back to the JA. So far people seem to have covered up for him pretty well. Wonder why? Absolutely he would not have done the same for them.
I see some people standing up for JA Jr's remarks about teachers, but when you confront them about their support they fold like a house of cards. Saying things like, well, he just misspoke or that's not really what he meant, etc. OK, if you think he misspoke and that's not really what he meant then why jump into the fray and stand up for him by saying he is right and that teachers should keep their politics out of the classroom. Well, I agree that politics of any kind do not belong in the classroom. That doesn't give his asinine comments a free pass. One other thing that really bugs me about this is that while I think politics don't belong in the classroom, I also think religion doesn't belong in the classroom either. Yet, the people I am seeing trying to defend Jr are the very same people who are continually saying they want to put God back in the classroom. Give me a break! You all know that I consider myself to be a person of deep faith, but I do not believe that religion, any religion belongs in a public classroom. And, my faith tells me that God is strong enough He/She doesn't need to be "put" anywhere. OK, off my soap box . . . This just really pushes my buttons.

One last thought for the morning . . . I'm really concerned that Democrats are going to blow it and hand the 2020 election to the JA unless we get very lucky and Mueller takes him out first. Democrats, PLEASE get it together! We need a win here. All you incoming freshman congresswomen, take a few breaths. Don't blow this for everyone because you're excited to finally be up there playing in the big league. And those of you who think you want to be President, don't think you have to rush onto the bandwagon of every new idea that comes along. Take some time to sort it all out. What good does it do us to have good people running if they step all over themselves and lose? Here's where some seasoned politicians like Hillary, Nancy, Obama, Bill Clinton, etc. could offer some real wisdom if the candidates will just be open to listen and learn.

I have to admit that at this point I'd be willing to get rid of The White House, but of course, I'd want to bring it back again once the JA is gone.

Coming home from lunch I heard a brief snippet of news on the radio. Something to the effect that now Amazon is no longer building in Queens. From what I heard Dems like AOC seem to be taking this as some sort of huge victory that they somehow stood up to Amazon and defeated them. I don't know all the nuances surrounding this, but frankly here in TN people would have been thrilled to have Amazon build and see the jobs it would bring in, and TN is doing pretty well economically. Actually, Nashville was a contender as I remember that lost out to Queens. So why would AOC not want this built in her district? I don't understand that, and I suspect there are going to be a lot more people who are not going to understand that either. As I said, I don't know the nuances here, but on the surface to me it sounds like a loss for her constituency rather than a win, and those are not the kind of losses Democrats can afford. Am I missing something here?

Great and glorious day?

The pros on bringing Amazon into New York were several. Increase in housing prices that would price people out of the area. The jobs that would be created would be tech jobs and most likely wouldn't go to residents already there. The infrastructure couldn't support it. And while AOC was vocal in her opposition it was a local state senator who really led the effort against it.

This may be the one book Mr. Trumph has read.
"What is the Pavlov theory? Pavlov said the dogs were demonstrating classical conditioning. He summed it up like this: there's a neutral stimulus (the bell), which by itself will not produce a response, like salivation. There's also a non-neutral or unconditioned stimulus (the food), which will produce an unconditioned response (salivation)."
Substitute Trump's buzz words to his base for the bell. Upon hearing the words they salivate and work themselves into a frenzy...................
Easy enough to do with an unthinking crowd.

Thanks for sharing that luanne, I can see that increased housing prices in an already high priced market could be a genuine issue of concern. Never having lived anywhere even similar to NYC, I still find it difficult to see having Amazon not build there as a good thing. I hope that the majority of residents in the area see it as a good thing. While the Nashville housing market can't compare to that of NYC, people there did know that it would raise the cost of housing and that many people would be moving into the area, but it was still highly sought after; and, the people there were disappointed when Amazon chose to go elsewhere. More people with higher incomes spreads out to smaller businesses as well, and promotes growth by having other "feeder" businesses started up. I hope that the people in Queens are being well served by this decision. If Amazon wants to take another look at Nashville, we'll be waiting at the airport with sweet iced tea, bar-b-que, Nashville "hot" chicken, fried catfish, and hush puppies. Just sayin' . . .

nashville11, yogamama007, there was quite the discussion on Amazon not going to New York on MSNBC this morning. One point that was brought up was how the "gentrification" of most of NYC has priced people out of the housing market. Same thing has happened to cities like Seattle and San Francisco where tech companies have moved in, housing prices have gone up, and most people can't afford to live there. They were also talking about how since Amazon already had bids from all those other cities, even though they might not put a headquarters there, they know what those areas have to offer. Amazon is going to keep on expanding.
