This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it

Hello Everyone sunrose - I'll be thinking of you and your family today. Wearing pink is a wonderful way to remember that sweet little girl. I wish I could say I was excited for a new month, but I'm not there yet. I'm almost out of all junk and "bad to me" food in the house. I'm fighting really hard with myself not to go out and buy anymore. I hope the part of me that wants to be healthy wins Hope everyone else is doing better than I am and I hope that we all have a good month!

Good morning
cj59, thanks for our February start. I'm glad the "to be healthy" wins!! I bought a bunch of bread stuff the other day at the store. I know I can't have that in the house. So why do I do it?! Maddie really was a sweet little girl. I still can't wrap my head around her being gone.
I am going to do a Kathy Smith Kettle Bell workout later today.

Good morning everyone! How's February treating you so far? sunrose49 , What a beautiful notion, wearing her favorite color, and how wonderful that you have such a loving, supportive family. My thoughts are with you and yours. cj59 , I liked what you said about the photos. The mind part is so hard! I know you're a pro but do you think rethinking your "why" or setting a new goal or figuring out the sabotaging thought(s) that are holding you back would help? I'm actually feeling pretty motivated since I read that link in the Beck Book Review thread on this board: diet.beckinstitute.org/cheat-days/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=READ%20MORE&utm_campaign=1.31%20Cheat%20Days%3F I constantly come to the thought that dieting means "no treats" which makes me feel like... maybe tomorrow? But as we know tomorrow never comes. I just got back from the trip and maintained eating fast food for lunch/dinner and pop tarts for breakfast. I made sure I had fruit with my pop tart and other good choices along the way, which seems like a 'duh' when I write it but it could've been a disaster this week. A lot of it is perfectionism for me, it's on or off plan, it's healthy food or junk, but I have to remember that progress is progress, a win is a win, and sometimes the best I can do is good enough. I also was in the market for a new tracking app (membership is almost up) and went to check out iTrackBites. I saw that it said for the PointsPlus one ("Plus" I think) - limits carbs. What?!?!?! I have been living a lie! I had no idea that's the plan I was doing! Does Oprah know about this? Nevermind, she's on Freestyle. But still, wow! So now I'm rethinking my diet choice for the first time ever. We'll see where I end up.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying your weekend sunrose - I hope you enjoy the kettle bell workout, I remember them being so popular years ago. I'll be interested to see what you think about it. I do the same thing with bread. I love white bread, I grew up on it. So every time I start overeating and get off track, I'll buy a loaf of plain old regular white bread and eat it. It feel like cheating to me, but I know I'd be better off just treating it as regular food and fitting it into my plan. I have gotten used to the Light Multi-grain English muffins and also Sandwich Thins instead. I like to have a sandwich probably 5-6 days a week for lunch. irisinnia - Congratulations on maintaining during your trip - that's a big achievement. I think Points Plus did try to limit carbohydrates, since that was in their points calculations, but they also gave credit for protein, so maybe that balanced it some. I just liked the easier formula of Original Points (Momentum), but I know it's easy to eat too many carbs and too much sugar on that program if you're not careful. I think something finally snapped in me. I remembered this year that I have to get a new driver's license and I do not want to say that I weigh over 200 pounds when I get it Also, my knees and legs are bothering me again, they can't take the stress of the extra weight, so it's time for me to get back on track and be realistic about my eating. I'm trying to do a 45 minute walk each day in February, even though it might not be that strenuous, and I go for a minimum of 12,000 steps a day. And even though I've been tracking my food through the last 4 months of overeating, I haven't been writing down the points, so I'm starting that today. I have all good foods stocked for breakfasts, lunches and dinners so there's no reason for me to go out looking for food. I'm going to go back on the Momentum plan again, since it works the best for me. I haven't weighed myself for months either, so I guess it's time to face the music and do it, I think on Monday. I sure hope it doesn't set me off, maybe it will be a wake-up call instead. I just hate that I worked so hard for 3 years to lose and maintain that weight loss of over 150 pounds and I know I've gained a lot of weight back and now I have to work hard at it again. But I don't want to weigh over 300 pounds again in my lifetime, so I have to do this. Thanks for letting me talk about my struggles, and I really appreciate all the support everyone here gives me

cj59, sunrose49, irisinnia, happy February! I've been in a bit of a down mood, so not very talkative (or postative lol) but it's starting to let up. Just wanted to say Hi!

Good morning
irisinnia, that's great you maintained over vacation. That is so me either all in or all out. I think I will check out the app you mentioned.
cj59, Good for you making the connection again. I have another year before I have to renew my license and I will have to put over 200 if I don't get my act together. So I know how that feels. You mentioned Momentum before. So happy you are going to get it another try.
dotren, sorry you have been down. We are always here.
Waving to all
I went to my ww workshop this morning. I'll get out for a couple walks later. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Good evening! cj59 , Your journey is so inspiring! I love when you share. Good luck on getting back on track! Thank you the info on PP vs Momentum. I knew something was fishy. lol DotRen , Hello! Sorry you're feeling down, whenever you're ready we love to hear from you! sunrose49 , Sounds like everything is going to plan! I hope you had a lovely weekend as well. Nothing to report here. A little extra eating at our mini Super Bowl party. I think I did pretty well, it's just definitely more calories/points than I would consume on a normal day, because I usually don't snack outside of my normal eating times. But it's a holi-day not a holi-week so back on track tomorrow with no worries! New week! I hope to see you all tomorrow!

Good morning
irisinnia, good for you having a fun day and getting back on track today. You sound so upbeat.
Waving to all
I didn't do too bad yesterday. NSV my son got delivery and I didn't get anything. I did eat a few FF, but no sub (even though it is a veggie sub I get).
I have my workout goals in place for the week. I will do some activity each day. I hope everyone is doing well.

Good morning! It was an interesting weekend. Son has been asked (by parents and one teacher) to do some private tutoring on Saturdays. $50 an hour per person is really a nice bonus for him lol. So far 2 people have asked, and accepted the fee so -good for him! DH had the "call out phone" and ended up working 20 hours over the weekend. Needless to say he was tired and cranky lol.

Hello Everyone sunrose - Good for you on your eating choices yesterday and setting workout goals for the week. My birthday is later this year, so I have to get moving to get the weight down irisinnia - Sounds like you did great at your party yesterday and that's a great attitude remembering that it's a "day" of eating and not a "week"! DotRen - That's great news for your DS to get the extra tutoring jobs and money, I hope that continues and works out for him. Hope your DH gets some rest this week. Well I weighed myself this morning, the first time since October. It was bad, but not as bad as I thought it would be - so that was a relief Hopefully that is going to motivate me to get back and track and stay there and get the weight back off. I think this time I won't go as low as I did a few years ago, it probably wasn't a weight I could maintain long term, even though I was excited to have a normal BMI for probably the first time in my life. I'll have to see how it goes. I'm tracking my food and writing down the points. I'm working through the Beck practices again. I'm getting in a dedicated 45 minute walk each day and have pretty much all of the junk food out of the house, so I hope I can stay strong and stay on track. I know the support I receive here helps too The hardest thing for me is going to be working to stay on my plan while I'm dealing with a bunch of other things in my life. I've started a major decluttering of my house this year and I have other house and personal issues I'm dealing with. I'm usually only successful at weight loss when that is my main/only focus in my life. But life isn't like that all the time, so I need to learn to eat well, exercise and deal with everything else in my life at the same time. Wish me luck I hope everyone else checking in is doing well on their plans and that we all have a great week!

Good morning! sunrose49, I am feeling much more perky lately. I think I just needed a vacation! lol Great job not getting delivery! And I love how you have these amazing work out goals. Did you start out every day or did you gradually increase your activity? I'd love some advice on getting started. DotRen, Wow! Money's just rolling in at your place, huh? lol Great news! I hope your DH doesn't have the call out phone again this weekend so he can get some much earned rest. How are you doing this week? I'm tracking my food and writing down the points. I'm working through the Beck practices again. I'm getting in a dedicated 45 minute walk each day and have pretty much all of the junk food out of the house, so I hope I can stay strong and stay on track. I know the support I receive here helps too ^^^ Sage advice right here! You're doing great! Though I agree that life is one of the greatest challenges for weight loss. Sounds like you're making your own luck with a great plan, but good luck! Yesterday was a little rough! First day that my son had gymnastics and I was thinking how on earth am I going to have a healthy dinner when we're getting home at 5? Crockpot and instant pot, but I'm very new to my instant pot, so it was a struggle. Dinner was delicious though and I'm looking forward to leftovers for lunch. I'm working hard this week so I hope the scale shows it! Have a great day everyone!

Good morning - love the weather here in Maryland ;-)
cj59, keep up the good fight. You are doing all the right things to get back on track.
dotren, congrats to your son for making the good $!
irisinnia, do you like your instant pot? I have thought about getting one. Sounds like you had a good dinner.
Met step goal yesterday. Will do the same today. The scale keeps creeping up. So disheartening. I'm not giving up though.

irisinnia , rolls in and rolls right back out! Go to nomnompaleo or hippressurecooking for instant pot ideas that are pretty simple and straight-forward cj59 , I know it sounds clichè, but stopping, clearing your mind and taking a few deep breaths really does help. Hang in there sunrose49 , I love my instant pot! I'm giving serious consideration to upgrading to the 8 quart lol. I go in phases where I use it several times a week, then I won't even think about it for a month. But the ease of making yogurt from cold milk (no heating, tempering, cooling), making home make broth where I control what goes in it, how much salt and all that - just those alone are worth it This guy on youtube has loads of recipes: pressure luck

Hello Everyone irisinnia - I'm glad you were able to work out dinner with your schedule. Those appliances really are timesavers for mothers, and others who cook and are busy. sunrose - Hang in there, and I hope the scale starts coming down for you. You are very active and I know that has to be helping your health, but I know seeing a lower number is what we're all looking for. DotRen - I don't understand how the milk turns into yogurt in an IP. Does it just thicken up? What type of milk do you use? I love my artificially sweetened grocery store yogurts , so I doubt I'd like this, but I'm glad you get good use out of your IP. I'm doing pretty, for the second day anyway I'm staying on track and getting everything done. I'm dreading when I have to go to the grocery store again. I'm like a kid in a toy store when I go there. I'm really going to have to be tough with myself and just get foods that are on my plan and no extras. Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans.
