Thanks for the cheesy start Chele! We had a strong storm come through last night around 3am and it's still dreary outside. It will be a little cooler today, but looks like we'll be back in the 80s in no time. Melbourne broke a record yesterday with a high of 88. It was 85 here. That's way too hot for February!
This is one of those weeks that makes me glad I'm leaving. I don't know if I mentioned it, but they changed our 4 week build cycle to a 2 week cycle. We're at the end of a cycle, so it's the usual deadline craziness. I lost a long post yesterday, so just popping in to say hello to everyone before the next meeting starts. Hope you have a good one.

Becky, are you in Elgin? Kathy, Florida, near Melbourne? Chele, Ohio near Cleveland ? Liz, north of NYC? Karen, Tenn...where?
I am in Tempe ten miles from ASU. Just trying to get a mental map image when I read posts.
Supposed to rain all day tomorrow here and be under 60. DH wants to go to German butcher and bakery in Phoenix, so we settled on Friday. people do not drive right in rain here. The two or three times it snowed I was glad it melted before I had to leave for work...aside from driving, people do not have the right tires for that!
Good report from dermatologist this morning...been 17 years since they got the melanoma in time.

Kathy, 2 week cycle sounds a little too short. I am glad you feel good about your decision. Deadline? What stinkinā deadline? Sorry you lost your post and hope the meeting is a productive one and not too long or filled with business platitudes.
Linda, how did you sleep? Did Micki get his last outdoor at his normal time so he didnāt have to cross his paws this morning? Congratulations in getting the printer installed. I have an Apple iPad 2 that is no longer supported but continues to work well. A lot of the apps no longer work with the iOS, however. I donāt ise it for the internet because it doesnāt have all the security patches.
Karen, I am glad the rower is okay with your foot. How does it feel today? When do you get your vibration machine? I forgot about the dog show. I have never seen a Schipperke in person. I read that it was ruled ineligible for first place because of the top judgeās conflict of interest. That is what happens when breeders are judges. Ah, Powerpoint. It was 10 years of my work life creating Powerpoint presentations.
Becky, did you go out to lunch today? Iggy wished me Happy Valentineās Day via text. Singapore is 13 hours ahead of us.
I gatherd up the recyclables and put them in the wheelie bin for pickup tomorrow. It was freezing outside because there is such a strong wind. I did notice the daffodils have stuck their leaves out of the ground a couple of inches. I told them not to be in so much of a hurry. I did some cleaning and organizing today but there is much more to do. I am taking my time so my body doesnāt rebel with all the bending and reaching.

Thanks for the start, Chele. How's the tooth doing today? Have you started spring cleaning yet? We have strong winds and falling temps today but bright sunshine. I hope you have sun as well, given that I think we're having the same winds. Definitely take it easy on your body, especially since your "baching it" right now. How are things in Singapore? Still trying to figure out if the credit card went through on the Vibe Plate. It hadn't posted as of this morning, so I'm not sure what the issue is. think I should have gone directly to the manufacturer than working with a distributor. I would have paid more but would have had less hassle I think. I, too, have done lots of Powerpoints and tend to like to make preliminary notes and then do the ppt before putting the rest of the presentations together. I need to drop off another load of recycling tomorrow. We don't have trash or recycling pickup, so I have to drop it in town at the recycling center. This is the 2nd time I will have been there this week. That really stunk on the Schipperke. You would think they would have figured all that stuff out ahead of time. Kathy, you are so right that the 80s is too hot for February, even in FL. You hadn't mentioned that your build cycles had been cut in half. So you're still having to do 4 weeks of work but just have half the time. Yes, that would be a sign for me that it's time to get out. How many more days? Sorry you lost your post from yesterday. I hate when that happens. Did you do the Taylor buffet today, Becky? Things might be a bit crowded tomorrow with it being Valentine's Day, so I hope you went today. Did Scooter try to go with you? Remind me what breed she is. I think I saw one on the dog show. Linda, how are you feeling and did you sleep last night? Is Bob still dealing with allergies? Pitchers and catchers have reported for spring training. Do you see much increase in traffic with all the baseball players and fans? Congrats on getting the printer set up. We're Dolly Parton's neighbors--Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg in East TN. I can see the Great Smoky Mountains from the top of my driveway. You're getting more rain? Congrats on the good report from the dermatologist. How's the week going, Liz? Is Gary over his cold? Do you have a rheumatologist appointment yet? Knee? I cooked Arya a couple weeks of beef for breakfasts but haven't done much else, other than talk to the FA's office about the paperwork I sent the other day. Foot not doing too bad and I think it's more the deep bruising across the top of the foot than the scar causing pain. If I can get a little energy, I may make a small batch of salve with some arnica oil for the bruising and a few essential oils to help resolve the scars on both feet. Surgery #2 is one week from today and I'm anxious to get it over with and get back to normal. I'm watching last night's Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and just found out that the Schipperke got ruled ineligible to be judged for best in show because of some kind of conflict of interest between the best in show judge and his owners. The Welsh Springer Spaniel, which was the breed our Kira was, also was DQ'd due to a conflict with the group judge so I didn't even get to see him/her show. Very disappointed in this year's show, even thought I think FS1 does a better job than USA did. We didn't even watch last year so maybe I won't bother next year. I only did 20 minutes on the rowing machine this morning but the foot rests started hurting my heels, so I cut it short. I may need to wear something like big slippers next time I use it. Planning to go to the NuStep tomorrow so trying to figure out what to wear on my feet for that as well.

Thanks for the start Chele.I did have a little rf shredded cheddar on my scrambled egg this morning.
Kathy That is way too hot for Feb for sure.We are supposed to be in the low 80's Friday and close to 80 on Saturday. It was a chilly 26 this morning but with the sun it's already warmed up to 66.It sounds like you made a wise decision to retire...too much stress and pressure.
Linda I live about 7 miles from Elgin but that is the closest town to us.People don't drive well in rain here either and that's why I'm glad we rarely get snow because they even drive like maniacs in snow. You are a little cooler than us today but 26 sure felt cold this morning.I'm glad the sun has been out the last 2 days.I'm glad you got a good report at the dermatologist.
Chele that's great Iggy texted you Happy Valentines. We will go out for lunch tomorrow. We needed to buy groceries today and I figured it would be easier to eat out on a day we didn't need to go to the grocery store.Kenneth has tried calling the buffet in Taylor to see how much more it costs tomorrow than it would have been today on senior citizen day but they must have been busy getting ready for the lunch buffet and couldn't answer. He will try again later.
Karen We needed to go to HEB today so if we go to the buffet it will be tomorrow. One of the managers that works at HEB that we are friends with was giving out chocolate candy today and said it would be crazy in there tomorrow. The shelter said she was a border collie. No way is Scooter a border collie. One of the former vet techs said he thought she was a Belgian Malinois but the last tech I talked to thought she might me part German Shepherd/part black Lab.She has the pointed ears of a Malinois but they are usually brown or sable colored so we still aren't sure.I never could find what channel the dog show was on.I saw them advertise a rescue dog show coming up on the Hallmark Channel but I don't remember when. The sun is out and she was warm so she was happy to stay in the yard this morning. She took a nap earlier(I heard her dreaming)and then she wanted to go back outside.Take it easy with your foot on the rower. It's just a week until your next surgery? That sounds really fast to me but I'm sure you want to get back to your normal routine.
Waves to Liz.

Linda, I didn't realize you were that close to ASU. I'm about 2 miles east of UCF in an unincorporated area of Orange County, although my address says Orlando. Melbourne is about 50 miles southeast of here and is on the southern end of what they include in our weather reports. Congrats on the good report! Chele, software engineers don't have a high tolerance for business platitudes. It actually was a productive meeting and not too long for once. We have really large wheelie bins here, so I usually only put out the recycling every 3 or 4 weeks. I'm still amazed that I manage to fill it up. Karen, they're not trying to pack 4 weeks worth or work into 2, but there is more overhead since we have several meetings each cycle. They haven't decided if it will be a permanent change, so I wouldn't be surprised if they go back to 4 weeks once things really get going. This cycle was fairly easy since it was requirements and design work and not as much actual coding. Writing a document is always easier than actually getting something to work. Becky, the deadline pressure really does get to me and it's pretty constant. We didn't even have a freeze here this year, so I hope that doesn't mean a long hot summer is ahead. Sounds like you're in for some warmer weather soon too. Liz, hope you're having a good week.

Becky, I guess all holidays crowd the grocery store. I always thought Scooter looked like a Belgian Malinois but I can see German Shepherd as well. A former co-worker had the biggest German Shepherd I have ever seen but he was a gentle giant.
Karen, we had sunshine today as well. The wind was supposed to die down by now but it is still going strong. There were a couple of other dogs that were ineligible. Seems like a silly system. I hope you find the right shoes for the NuStep. The second surgery came up fast. I did start the spring cleaning today. I did mirrors, lights and lamps and pictures downstairs. All the things I hate to do and you could tell I hadnāt done them in awhile. I talked to Iggy the night before last and he was doing better mentally than Sunday night. Did I tell you his hearing aids stopped working and he had to go get fitted for new ones? The HQ of his brand is in Singapore and they could not be repaired. He had seen his audiologist about a month ago and told him he thought he needed new ones. The audiologist examined and cleaned his old hearing aids and talked him out of new ones, since he felt the ones he had were fine and why go to the expense. I canāt be mad at him for that.
Lucky you on the platitudes, Kathy. So no ācolor outside the linesā and āthink outside the boxā for you software engineers. You are not that close to downtown or the airport, are you? Our recyclables are collected every 2 weeks but we didnāt put it out last time due to ice, so it is full now.

Becky, the dog I saw that I thought looked a lot like Scooter was the Belgian Shepherd. The dog show was on Fox Sports this year, which was kind of odd because I don't think it's like ESPN and not on all the packages. They had more than just the judging and talked with all the judges in advance about what they look for and talked to all the handlers of the winners. They also had a bunch of reporters beyond the 2 guys who usually do it. So it was a lot more in depth. Good luck with lunch tomorrow. HEB might not be the only crazy place. Maybe the buffet will have a special deal for tomorrow.
I was wondering, Kathy, if the shorter build cycles might be in any way influenced by the shorter attention spans of the younger generation who probably inhabit most of the jobs at your company. I know from teaching that group that you have to break things down into smaller increments because they can't handle the bigger picture stuff. Dale has spent years doing coding in a variety of languages, so I know how much time and attention that can take. The writing is definitely the easier of the tasks.
I decided I wanted beans and rice for dinner, so I had to make each of those items. TG for the IP. I also decided to go ahead and do the scar salve, which really doesn't take that much time since I had the ingredients in the pantry. The difficult part was getting the labels printed out to put on the finished jars because of this POS printer I have. I am tempted to get another one and take a sledge hammer to this one. It has been such a PiTA over the years we've had it that I think I would really enjoy that. I finally got it to work right and boxed up a jar of the new salve to send to my sister from another mother who also had recent foot sugery. In the middle of the printer being a PiTA, Arya decided to be one as well, so it has not been a good afternoon. I will drop off the package while I'm out tomorrow and will use some of the salve on my foot this evening while we're sitting around watching the UT men's basketball team play. They are still #1 in the country, so we do have a basketball bright spot but it's not the women's team this time.

Chele, lol, we do hear the platitudes sometimes, but they're often met with an eye roll. No, I'm not close to anything other than the university and the high tech companies that clustered around it. I didn't realize how spoiled we were to have once a week pickup for recycling. We used to have trash pickup 2x/week until recently. Now we have the big wheelie bins that apparently look like picnic baskets to bears.

Karen, it's quite possible the shorter attention spans have influenced things. They're trying to follow agile programming practices which recommend breaking things down into smaller increments. No sledge hammers until your foot is fully healed!

I agree I taught high school 1968-2005 and I can tell you that as tech and tv and video hames got increasingly fast-paced and fast-cut, attention spand got worse. Having an internet made them not want to bother to remember anything. teaching propaganda evaluation and logic? haha because there was no patience to read and actually dissect ideas. It shows in politics today. Interestingly, they liked sentence diagramming to get a grip on structure. Nobody up until about 1998 did! my ipad hates caps!

Chele, we still have lots of wind as well, but gusts are down a bit, with the highest being only 12 mph so far this hour. We have had numerous gusts in the 20 mph range today. I hated that the Clumber and Welsh Springer Spaniels were also DQ'd at the dog show, especially the Welsh. Kira was a throwback to the 17th Century version of the breed, which was mostly white with red accents. The modern version is the opposite and that's apparently what the judges like to see. I really need to get a little cleaning done before the next surgery because I have the same situation with things not being done for a while (since before the 1st surgery, in fact). You hadn't mentioned Iggy's hearing aids having issues. Didn't that happen on a trip not long ago? If they can fix them at the HQ of the company, that's not good. Nice of the audiologist to save you $$ but it looks like, unless he has some trick up his sleeve, they will have to be replaced. Does he have insurance that will cover new ones? I was shocked when DM had to get them how costly they are.
I used to teach spelling and grammar part time in business college, Linda, and I didn't have the same love for sentence structure among my students that you had. You're right that having the internet means not having to remember anything, but I can't say that's just the younger generation because I have become the same way.
Kathy, I think agile programming practices started as an IBM thing, so Dale had to endure it for the years he was there. Sounds impressive, but I don't know that it's more than a fad. It will be a while before I can get revenge on the printer. I think we still have MIL's around here somewhere, but it's a Dell so different (and more expensive) cartridges, so I don't think that's worth switching to. So I think I want a new HP. I accidentally did over 10K steps today, given that I did more than I was planning, so I don't think I'll be testing the feet any more than necessary for a while.
I envy all of you who have trash pick up. We didn't have it at the old house either, but the recycling center was on the way to the dump there, so it was a bit easier, plus they recycle glass, which is not recycled here. I just can't bear to trash glass, so what I don't repurpose accumulates in the garage and I have 2 large bins of it that I need to figure out what to do with. The new salve has a smooth texture and smells very nice, so I hope it will also work well for the scar and the bruising on top of the foot.
