This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning all,
I was awake at 2:30 and actually considered getting up, but I guess I dropped back off to sleep after about an hour or so. Not sure exactly what today holds, but a nap may have just made the agenda.
DH is WFH today so whatever I'm getting into, I'll try to keep it to quiet activities. Not much other news from here.
On the house front, we're just waiting to hear the results of the inspection, which was supposed to be yesterday morning. I know it generally takes a couple of days for the inspector to write their reports and then for the buyer to decide what they want to ask for...but I want to know NOW. Lol. Trying to be patient with the process and not obsess over it. I almost fell into to binge eating yesterday, and I'm sure this is the reason. I know it all takes time, I just want it to be instantaneous. Ha!
Andi - how are you feeling? Watching the deer yesterday was nice, and I was hoping for more this morning, but they've either skipped my place, or have already come and gone this morning.
Janet - I hope today will be a better day for you and that the new boy will settle in some and have a better day too.

I am in the stage of worrying about something I do not have enough information at the moment to worry about. That makes me want to binge because I don't have answers. Sometimes I have a very hard time being patient.
That being said, Lora, I hope you get the results of the house inspection soon. I certainly feel what you are going through at the moment.

Oh Jana! I feel for you as well. That urge to binge is so strong sometimes. Always brought on by worry and stress. We both know that the momentary comfort we might feel from a binge is fleeting, and almost instantaneously replaced with guilt/shame/self-hatred. And yet, the urge to do so remains. Crazy, right? Let's work through these urges together. Feel free to come here or PM me for support, there's safety in numbers, right? There is no need for either of us to try to go it alone if we don't have to. Well, I think I've decided to make a quick run to Aldi. We're about out of coffee, I'm out of almond milk (which has become my go-to hot evening drink to avoid evening caffeine), and I've been wanting to try the pasta/pizza sauce that they sell that has zero added sugar or starches. The sun is out with lots of puffy white clouds, and I don't know how long that will last...Lol. Plus, maybe getting out of the house for a little bit will help keep my mind off certain things. In case anybody is interested, the evening drink I've recently become hooked on is 1 to 1.5 cups of unsweetened vanilla almond milk that I heat to just bubbling. While that's heating, in a large mug I put 2 Tbs. cream, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, 2 stevia pkts., and 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon. Whisk or stir together (cinnamon may try to clump up). Add a little of the HOT almond milk and stir/whisk to combine, then add remaining almond milk, stir and enjoy. It's so good and just a really comforting beverage, plus cinnamon is supposed to be a great source of antioxidants, it's a good anti-inflammatory, and good for both the digestive and cardiovascular system...plus, it's delicious  I'm sure this would also be good with cashew or coconut milk as well. Or even cows milk, if that's what one prefers. |

Jana I feel for you - it's so hard when you don't have all the information together. I tend to be a person who thinks about the worst case scenario so I've spent my fair share of time assuming that things will go wrong. I hope that you are able to rationally think about the situation and avoid the binge-eating.
Lora I've never bought or sold a house but I'm sure the inspection can be a nerve wracking time because it might alter the deal that's already been struck. I hope you get good news back! I'm due for an Aldi trip myself but not sure I can get out there before I go to disney.
I think Andi asked about what I do when I go - there are must-do rides for me each time, the Haunted Mansion, the safari at Animal Kingdom, and a few others. I'll sometimes go to visit resorts that I'm not staying at for dining or seeing decorations. Also there are different festivals that happen at Epcot (festival of the arts, food & wine, flower & garden) that bring different things to see and do. The other thing that we do is try different restaurants. Some are fancier than others. I am a firm believer that calories don't count at Disney!

Good morning all. Amanda, thanks for describing what you do at Disney. I always think about it as a kid's destination but I guess it offers more than that.
Lora, I wish you success on your Aldi outing. They have really good organic marinara sauce as well, no sugar, no thickeners - I use that sometimes to make my eggplant dish. Let me know what you end up getting besides coffee. Enjoy the sunshine today.
Jana, sorry about all the worry. The impulse to binge always seems to rational and satisfying and then turns on you so fast. Someone brought in an enormous cake from a baby shower and left it in the office kitchen. I'm staying out of there today since I often have very little willpower by the end of the day. Definitely use me for support too (and you too, Lora) since this is something we are all familiar with. The only thing I've found effective in dealing with it is not to isolate. That, plus meditation every morning.
Sunny day here today. I've already been to PT and have two more sessions before I graduate. They worked with me today on stuff I can do at the gym on the machines there, which is definitely helpful. I can't believe how good my back is feeling - I mean I still have twinges to remind me that it's still there, but I have hours every day when I have no pain or discomfort at all. I never thought I'd be able to say that again. Maybe, just maybe, I can get back into hiking this spring, especially at my lower weight now.

I'm back from Aldi and I think I actually got everything I was looking for. That's a first! Lol.
Andi - my Aldi haul looked something like this...Café Bustelo Coffee (DHs favorite), Specially Selected brand Marinara (no added sugars or starches), Appleton Farms breakfast sausage (no sugar, no dextrose, etc..) this stuff is REALLY tasty and here it's only $1.89 for the 1 lb. roll....National and Store brands of similar products (that all contain some for of sugar BTW) are 2.50 - 3.49 - so a true bargain in every sense, Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk, sour cream, and a log of whole milk mozzarella for pizza casserole later this week. Oh...and some nice size avocados for 89 cents each. Not a GREAT deal on the avocados, but still cheaper than anywhere else around here that currently have them for 1.00 to 1.25 each, so I picked up a couple. It seems like I'm forgetting something, but not sure what that might be.
Amanda - yes, the inspection can be a deal breaker - it was for my BIL anyway. We think we've already corrected any major issues that might come up, but it always seems that they find something or other to ask for. We then have the right to say, Yes, we'll fix this and No, we won't do that. We've put so much into the house already, we're hoping that anything that really needs to be addressed will be on the "cheap" side. Lol
Supper tonight is oven baked chicken wings with a buffalo & crumbled blue cheese. I might make a small side salad to go with it, but I'm not sure yet.

Jana, I know it can be so frustrating when you don't have all the information you want. Not to mention how easy it is to just have one of those days where you want to munch.
Lora, I don't drink caffeine after 12:00, I might have decaf until 2, but I have such a hard time sleeping, I stick to herbal teas. One that I find particularly calming is Buttermint Tea by Twinings. For pizza sauce, I use something called Don Pepinos, which comes in a can. It has tomatoes, oil, and spices. No sugar or thickening agents.
Amanda, I guess I am not enough of a kid at heart to love Disney so much, but I do love Las Vegas, which to me is the adult Disney.
Andi, glad you are feeling better, I think I missed what was actually wrong with you. We were surprised how long that strong wind lasted yesterday, it was into the night, but it's OK now, and sunny out.
Susie, The Glass Ocean sounds like I would like it, but not a book club read for my local people. I started reading The Alice Network, but wasn't crazy about it, so never stuck with it. But, everyone else says they love it, so maybe it was just a bad time for me.

Robin - my favorite red sauce is actually Rao's Tomato Basil, but at almost $8.00 a jar, I can't really justify that if I can find something comparable in taste for less money - so giving this one from Aldi a try, that has super clean ingredients and only $2.49 a jar. I wish I was a fan of hot tea, but it's just something I've never been able to develop a taste for. There are so many lovely sounding varieties out there. Now drinking iced tea...well, I could do that all day long.  |

Lora, that sausage sounds so good. I'm assuming it's in the freezer section? I'll look for it on my next Aldi's trip. I do love sausage... And I like Rao's marinara, myself, but $7 a bottle here. Also, I think you got a fantastic price on avocados - I haven't seen them below $1.25 in months! Great haul. I'm making a chicken and cabbage stir fry tonight, using up some of my rotisserie chicken. I love rotisserie chickens but don't care for chicken breasts (never liked them much and WW pretty much killed off what little interest I had in them), so am always looking for ways to use them that don't have me trying to choke down dry, white meat.
Robin, for all my whining and complaining, all I had was a nasty cold. Oh, and I'm an herb tea lover myself, currently infatuated with Bengal Spice tea, drink a couple of mugs a day these days.

Andi - I spotted the sausage in two places actually, in a cooler door near some smoked sausages and bacon, as well as in the regular meat case near the bacon as well other breakfast sausage brands. Both sots were not frozen. We've had pork & cabbage stir fry a couple of times recently. Those type dishes are so easy and budget friendly. I've never been much of a fan of rotisserie chicken, the mouth feel is just always a little odd for me. DH loves it though and could eat his weight in thighs and legs, I think. Lol. When we lived in ATL, the Kroger deli would sell multi-packs of just rotisserie thighs and legs that were made in store. They used the white meat portions in an in-store made chicken salad, and sold the dark meat portions separately. I used to buy those packs of thighs and legs for DH all the time for him to take to work for lunches.

Good Evening...can't believe I haven't posted yet today. Got out of here early because the cleaning lady arrived...got to LLI (livelong learning) early and worked a little on my Spanish hw, then had tap dancing. Made a couple stops on the way home. Had an appt with a warranty rep about out house...a couple issues...just trying to get things resolved while they are still covered by the builder.
I goof around so much...DH said, "This is why we should just go out to eat each day, then you wouldn't stand in front of the fridge trying to decide what to fix for dinner." Ha Ha....I admire you gals for having everything planned for the week. Tomorrow, however, is dinner at the church, then Thursday I have dinner out with friends(so those days are covered) and Friday DD and her boyfriend arrive from Boston, so I don't know if that means dinner at ODD's house or pizza, or dinner out or what.
Dear Dear Jana - thinking about you and DS so much.
Andi - glad you are finally on the mend! I think I am going to have to go the Dr about my back...just need to get my finger surgery and my appt with the opthalmologist over first...jeesh.
Lora - your milk sounds so much like my morning coffee (everything you put in yours except half coffee and coconut oil instead of the cream). I can't wait til the Aldi across the road from my house is open...construction is almost complete! I will no doubt do all of my shopping between there and the Publix that is a block away...boy, talk about spoiled!
Amanda- love that calories don't count in Disney - ha - I know you do a ton of walking when you are there.
Robin - I guess it is good that people enjoy different genres - I am REALLY enjoying this book (and it is 500 pages so that almost defeats me to start with - ha!

Andi, forgot to mention that I am visiting my BFF from Kirkland in DC, Potomac actually. We won't do any touristy things anyway. Her mother died in November when we were on our way to Chicago, so I said I would come visit her right after Thanksgiving, and never did.
Lora, I love Rao also. I can usually get it for $5.99 on sale, but I rarely buy it. Once in a while I make meatballs and spaghetti, but that is very once in a while. For those 2 times a year, it's worth paying the extra for. Most other times I make things I make my own sauce with canned tomatoes, always bought on sale of course! I also use the Unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but really use very little, but of course am happy when I am due for it when I go to Target, because they always have that and the Silk my DH likes for $2.99. I love avocados, but don't buy them regularly, but they are usually around $1.
Susie, funny what your DH said, because that is my argument about not wanting to cook that much. I figured that even if I cooked 3 times a week, for all the years that I am married, that would be close to 7,000 meals. I now just cooked 3 days in a row, and am making a turkey breast in the crockpot tomorrow. If my DH was happy with repeat meals, that would be fine, but he is not, doesn't really like fish, so I rarely make it, would be happy to have things made with beef, which I don't want to make very often, so I have had enough!
