This administration just goes as low as they can go, don't they! They just keep digging, stop, look around and say, "Not there yet, we can go further. And their Base cheers them on and fetches more shovels for them! Is the BASE too dumb or out of touch with reality to see this will all eventually bite them in their astrodome? SAD!!!!!!!!!!!
Decided to change (dumb) to gullible and uninformed from now on, no other explanation IMHO.

FYI:
The amount DeVos wants to cut from the Special Olympics is $17.6 million dollars....the same cost as 5 Trump trips to MAR-A-LAGO.
Do we call this administration the "Government of the Fleeced"?
Or would that hurt their feelings?

Good morning everyone! I am home, and had a lovely trip with DD and DGD. I heard almost no news while I was gone, so that was an extra perk.
Now it's back to reality and the frustration of watching the country be destroyed. That Betsy Devos is proposing to take money away from the Special Olympics just infuriates me. It seems like this administration just looks to find whatever group most needs our compassion and help, and that's where they want to strike. It's almost like their mission to is to eradicate anything good.
The JA is back on the path of trying to destroy healthcare for those who need help the most. Of course his family and the families of any acquaintances he has (I won't say friends, because I don't think he has any) won't be affected. And offering up that pie in the sky of once the ACA is destroyed he'll have a wonderful plan just waiting in the wings. How dumb can people be to keep falling for that? If he's got a plan, let's hear what it is.
Now he's accusing the FBI agents involved in the investigation of himself of treason! Why can his followers not see that he is totally deranged? I am just rapidly losing all faith in the ultimate goodness of people. He is completely destroying my faith in our country. I'm beginning to feel like I've spent my life wearing rose colored glasses, and now that I've taken them off the world is turning into a very ugly place.
I definitely had a better outlook while I was gone and ignoring the news. Maybe that's the secret to survival. Just bury your head in the sand.

A different issue but: why are people angry that Yale expelled one of the "scam" students??? He didn't earn the right to be there! Geesh. They should all be expelled because there's no way these kids didn't know their parents bought their way in. The ONLY way I could see exceptions would be if they were actually in the top 10% of their classes because they earned the grades.

I agree DotRen, that unless the kids actually were top tier students there is no possible way they could not have known they didn't get into those schools legitimately. And those that got in on sports they didn't even play?! Most likely they were so used to their family's money and privilege paving the way for them throughout their lives they just never gave it a second thought. If they got in when they shouldn't be there, then they should not be allowed to stay. If they want to get on the list at the back of the line and then try it on their own actual merits, fine; but, had they been able to get in on their own merits it's not likely they'd be involved in this scandal in the first place. What amazes me is that those like Lori Loughlin and both her daughters don't seem to even recognize that they did something wrong. They seem to truly believe that they are entitled to special treatment just because they're wealthy, while kids who don't have money but worked their butts off to try and get into those college were left behind even though they were legitimately qualified.

Yeah LL's daughter made a video before all this happened saying she "didn't care about school, just wanted in the best partying college" - so definitely she needs to be kicked out. I'm surprised more of the Colleges haven't done it yet. Kudos to Yale for not letting the $$ cloud their morals about it.

Those who have launched lawsuits because the fact that their college knowingly participated in this scandal and now that tarnishes their degree from the school have a very valid point as well. At least the fact that Yale is standing up helps to validate the degrees of those who have genuinely earned them there.

A giant boo-hiss re: Special Olympics. Also, you-know-who wants to reduce payments to Puerto Rico. I read a lovely article where nursing home patients were having to sit in dirty adult diapers because the facilities do not have the funds for enough supplies. Oh well, they can't vote and they're the wrong color.

Did any of you see the exchange between Adam Schiff & the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee..? All the Republicans on the committee signed a letter asking him to resign his position on the committee & Congress. The Wimp reading the letter at the beginning of the start of the committee proceedings couldn't even look Schiff in the eye while reading the letter or after. Nor could the other spineless creeps sitting there. Schiff responded with an epic takedown. He laid into Donnie Jr & Jared like nobody's business! Good on him! Nunues sits there like he's wearing a halo & wings...IMHO he is the one committing treason leaking to the JA what was going on in the committee.
If Medicaid goes down, Jason's work goes down as well, besides his medical insurance & drug prescriptions. Jason & those that work at ABLE ,INC pay recipient liability as well. There will be about 15 friends of Jason who will have no insurance & no place to work or live. Jason is lucky, he lives at home with us. It just makes me ill to even think about it.

Linda, I am grateful that Jason has you and his dad but you are right that there are so many out there who don't have that. And to take away the opportunity to meaningfully contribute for everyone whether they have home support or not would just be cruel. I get furious just thinking about it. As for the elderly who are depending upon Medicaid in nursing homes, it's just unconscionable. Fortunately, my mom is still able to be self-pay. I think I can pull that off for her for another year, possibly another year and a half as I'm being very frugal with her resources and paying for any extra needs myself. But the cost goes up by at least 5% yearly. My mom can't get any better, but there is no way to know how long she will linger just as it is for many, many others who are far worse off financially than her. There's no excuse! These people worked hard and contributed to society all their lives, and now when they need help the Republicans want to turn their backs on them.
