The bible thumpers believe this guy is a gift from their god. They're misguided, foolish, and ignorant sheep. I mean people. Sheep are smarter and more aware of wolves so my apologies to sheep everywhere. I'm beginning to wonder if these people actually read that book, or if it's used for thumping purposes only. "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravening wolves." I'm not sure about the sheep's clothing thing but you get the point. Matthew 7:15 Our Founding Fathers warned us of the poisonous and destructive brew we'd have if we mixed religion with politics. We are now reaping what we've sown. I have a book that's been sitting on my book shelf since 2005. The title is, "The End Of Faith. Religion, terror, and the future of reason." The author is Sam Harris. Perhaps it's time to take it off the shelf and actually read it. Or, is it too late? "Sam Haris launches a sustained nuclear assault....The End of Faith is a brave, pugilistic attempt to demolish the walls that currently insulate religious people from criticism....The End of Faith is badly needed." Johann Hari, The Independent. Joyce, that weather is a tad frightening. Perhaps it really is The End Times? Or, is that a typical Nashville storm? Stay safe!!

birdgal, the sun is shining right now, but it was pretty nasty here for most of the day. We do get some pretty bad storms sometimes, and have been under a tornado watch all day. That's not all that unusual though. All is well.

I guess I will take snow over a tornado any day, Joyce. :-):-)

Me too, Linda, but it is all in what you get used to. Watches in the spring and fall are not all that unusual, but usually don't amount to anything really serious. Of course when they do, it's a different story.

The JA is lashing out on Twitter at Ann Coulter. Personally, I think she's a "wacky nut job" too, and I like seeing him fight with wacko-right wing pundits. The more he fights with them, the better it is for the rest of the world IMHO.

Don't you know when republicans take part in things like this it's perfectly okay with them and their god? Lighten up, will ya? lol. It's only when Democrats do the same kind of disgusting things that it's vile and sinful.
I want to say America deserves better but I'm beginning to doubt that.
Who knows? Maybe they had a bible signing afterwards.

When he was autographing the Bible, someone should have told him "it's not about YOU!" geesh.

I can't even imagine the Pope feeling comfortable signing a bible. I also can't imagine a reasonable person even asking someone to sign it or a sane person feeling okay about signing one.
Crazy and crazier.

DotRen, the fact that people asked him to sign their bibles means it indeed is all about him. I'm so tired of dumb and dumber. They scare me. They keep me awake at night and keep me wondering what other irrational and idiotic thing will they conjure up.
This whole ordeal diminishes that particular book in my eyes. I know it's full of violent acts, wars, murders, torture, etc. It also speaks of hope, peace, unity, and love. But to ask such a despicable and dishonorable man to hold it in his hand and write his name on it instantly makes it trash.
I thought only authors signed books. Didn't you?

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that he had the audacity to autograph Bibles. He does seem to think he is omnipotent. It bothers me much more that people actually wanted him to autograph their Bible. While I believe the Bible is not intended to be taken literally, I nevertheless believe it is a holy book and to be revered. I would find it offensive if he autographed the Koran or the Jewish Torah as well. So many people seem to just be completely enthralled by this conniving con man. He's laying the groundwork already to call the election invalid if he should lose. Idiots like those people I could see being incited to actual violence by him if he loses. That's a very scary thought. Michael Cohen may be right, "I fear that if he loses the election in 2020, that there will never be a peaceful transition of power."

The more I hear from AOC, the more she is grating on my nerves. Am I the only one? I just listened to a clip from her at the SxSW conference in Austin yesterday. According to her, moderates are "meh." They don't really believe in anything special, but are just for the status quo. I disagree. I think moderates simply are pragmatic enough to recognize that unless there are some compromises along the way, you get nothing which is exactly what we have been getting out of Congress for quite sometime now because the Rs would not compromise on anything. Nancy Pelosi has her hands full with her and a few others. I think they may all turn out to be good statesmen/women once they've been "seasoned" enough to recognize reality. I agree that it is easy to become too complacent and a moderate needs to be careful about that, but right now, IMO people like AOC are hurting the party more than helping at a time we really need to be attracting middle of the road voters who will go against the JA. She makes me nervous. Am I looking at this the wrong way? Do you see her full tilt to the left approach in a different, more positive light? Maybe I'm just showing my age. LOL!

Sometimes the Democratic Party is its own worst enemy. I understand the energy & the drive these newly young elected Congresswomen have. Anything is possible when one is young & full of hope & just getting a feel for the real world out there. But, I do agree Joyce, with the compromising point of view you made. They have a whole lot to learn, but I'm afraid they are going to just do their own thing regardless of Pelosi & the Moderates & be damned to whoever gets in their way. They are very savy on Social Media & have huge followings. Not sure us "old timers" LOL can tame them. And we shouldn't, I guess. I just worry how much damage they will do in the meantime, til, as you say "seasoned". The world has changed so much in just the 3 years since JA walked down that escalator & became President. Plus, the Republican Party has followed his path for the most part & abandoned any sense of common decency they had by enabling him when they know exactly what kind of person JA is. Respect, common sense & doing the right thing isn't practiced much nowadays in Congress. Probably wasn't in the past, but way worse today. AOC & her newly elected friends in Congress are now targets of the Republicans & JA Koolaid drinkers & they provided them fodder on a daily basis it seems & the GOP will be using it to win any way they can in 2020, even if its based on lies & misinterruptations. I honestly am scared the Democrats are going to blow it in some way. Hope to gosh I'm wrong!

Maybe I'm just showing my age. Joyce and Linda I agree with both of you. You're not showing your age, Joyce. She is showing hers! Newbies NEED to spend more time on their knees at the knees of their elders who have been around the block, are in touch with reality, are wiser and more careful than someone just out of the gate. I hate to use the same example for a Democrat that I use for Republicans, but she appears to be a bit drunk with power at this moment and needs to be put in her place. It's getting too uncomfortable holding my breath when I hear her speak or hear about something she said. If this isn't nipped in the bud she'll be the poster child for the JA's re-election. Old stogies don't like new blood or new ideas. She's young, enthusiastic, and excited about getting things done. While that's a good thing it's also a bad thing. The good part is actually getting things done. The bad part is going out there unaware of the pitfalls and snares and getting all tangled up in every one. I honestly don't think the Democrats blew it last time, Linda. I believe the election was stolen and I believe the same thing can happen this time. Thieves that get caught don't stop being thieves, they find new and improved ways to steal and cheat. If we loose this time I need to find another hobby. This is too stressful.
