Watching a town hall in CNN with Mayor Pete Buttigeig. Of course he has no real chance of getting the nomination, but this guy is really smart.

nashville11, I agree about AOC - she needs to do her job and stop making it about her (we already have "one of those" in a high office!). She really comes across to me like a Kardashian: just in it for the publicity. Ugh.

Do you ever get the feeling that it seems like no one even tangentially associated with this administration ever tells the truth about anything? Everyone even remotely in its orbit seems to lie about everything even when the truth would likely serve them better. It seems that lying is like breathing for them all.

@lka5, once more they find a new low to reach! The article mentions Tennessee, and I do know that it is not easy to get disability here in Tennessee as this article says. From what I have heard, you automatically get denied here when you first apply; and, if you go to court about it most often it turns out that the doctor who has reviewed your documents and denied your claim has never even actually met you much less examined you. That's hearsay, however.
I enjoy keeping up with cousins and their families who I don't normally get to see any other way than via Facebook, but you are so right that it is a double edged sword. The potential for abuse is staggering. I stay conflicted about whether or not it would be better just to stay off it completely.

Of course that is a fox news link so the nastiness of the comments is pretty normal for them.

He also called an executive at Lockheed-Martin, Marilyn Lockheed. Not her name. This is also on tape.
I just caught the tail end of Lyin' Sarah's presser. OMG. Same old stuff.

I agree with Pelosi that unless a smoking gun is found with his finger on the trigger that impeachment is simply not worth the effort. It would have to be so major I can't even imagine what it would be for Rs to convict. So if it would be an action without consequences, what's the point? It would be playing right into his hands with his "oh, they're persecuting me." It would turn away a lot of possible crossover voters, and achieve nothing other than help to get him re-elected. She's a pretty tough lady, and I hope she stands her ground. No impeachment unless there's real reason to believe you can get a conviction in the Senate.

Re: impeachment - CNN reminded me that Clinton's approval rating went up 10 points immediately after his impeachment and the Republicans' went down 10. Because it was seen as totally politically motivated. Even though the Democrats have a so much stronger case, she is probably wary of history repeating itself. And of course, Republicans would spin it (as they do everything) as strictly political.

Ok. I received this in a private message on FB from a friend that actually believes this is true and came from trump:
President Trump is asking everyone to forward this email to a minimum of 20 people, and to ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in the United States will have the message. This is an idea that should be passed around, regardless of political party.
The TRUMP Rules: Congressional Reform Act of 2017
1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. And, no more perks go with them.
2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as ALL Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people (i.e. NO MORE INSIDER TRADING!!!).
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts by and for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor and privledge NOT a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work … not get all kinds of freebies.
NO WONDER THEY’RE FIGHTING EVERYTHING HE TRIES! Pass it on!!!! Let's help TRUMP drain the swamp!! Just hold your finger down then hit forward and send it to everyone you know. Let’s help trump get the country straightened out.
