This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it

Hello Everyone - Thought I'd start our new monthly thread. Can't believe how fast February went!
I've had a few rough days, but still hanging onto most of my good habits. Fortunately I don't have much junk food in the house, but the minute I get off track I start eating all of it. I know this is telling me that I just have to keep it out of the house, but I'm keep resisting that and want to learn to control it. I need to make a decision on this and stick to it.
DotRen - Hope you aren't getting sick, take care of yourself.
sunrose - I'm glad you are getting in your steps. I'm with you on the Easter candy. It just feels good to eat it. I think it reminds me of being a child when there weren't all the problems and struggles we have as adults.
irisinnia - Sounds like you are doing well and the app is working for you.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hello everyone! I'm checking in late today, crazy busy! cj59 , As soon as I clicked I said "Ooh! New month, new thread!" It's the little things. I'm happy to hear you're holding onto those good habits. I think you're right about having to make a decision. It's about creating a new pattern to replace the old pattern of thinking. Keep up the good work! DotRen , I know! It's here too soon! I let myself eat a bit more today than I have since I started on Monday... but that's because I had way too many weeklies left and I used to eat ALL my points, including activity points, so I was feeling uncomfortable... like I was starving myself. Probably an irrational fear, but a fear nonetheless. Although I utilized the moment for an experiment, I was having pizza and I ALWAYS have soda with pizza. Pizza without soda is like cake without milk - hence the Got Milk? commercials. But I could tell I was really thirsty and that I would love some water, so I thought I'd give the water a try and if it was too gross, I'd have the soda. And... I actually enjoyed the water. I totally could have drank the leftover in the can that my DH poured for himself, but I didn't. So now those calories are going to go down the drain, instead of on my body. Hurray! The honeymoon phase of dieting is so romantic isn't it? I hope you guys are here for me when I come crashing down off this high. Good luck to you all on your plans!

cj59, thanks for our March start. Hard to believe we are in another month. I agree Easter candy does remind me of my childhood.
dotren, I can't believe it is March already too!
irisinnia, of course we'll be here for you. But I think you are doing quite well ;-)
It's another gray day here. Crazy weather this weekend. Hope to get out for a walk, but might go to the Mall and walk around.

Good run at the farmers market:) I got some grass fed ribeyes (too $$ but good quality), beets, carrots and eggs It's still foggy here at 11am, and there's a chill in the air but it's not awful. This is the farmers market facebook pageIt's not a big one, there's one once a month at the local fair grounds that's supposed to be really big.

Hello Everyone! DotRen, The farmers market sounds like fun! I'm so happy you found some good stuff! How's everyone's health? sunrose49, Thank you! I finally was cool like you and went for a walk today. I had to take an umbrella but I feel really good about it! Do you have a certain shoe you wear for these walks? cj59, I've been meaning to ask you, what are some of your top good habits that you think contribute the most to your loss/maintenance? I have an event in two months. I got talked into going, so I pulled out my dress... it fit, a tiny bit snug, but definitely fit. It has no sleeves, and while my arms look okay, I've decided to take on my own arm challenge for the next two months. I'm also going to try to lose 10 lbs by the event. It'll be hard, but achievable. I kinda love that this is all happening at once with the Beck Review. It's like Weight Loss Immersion Therapy. lol I hope you're all having a great weekend!

DotRen, nice that you have the farmers market to go to. Won't be one here until later spring.

Good morning sunrose49 , this one is every weekend except Christmas, rain or shine with the exception of hurricanes and flooding I think it's neat because it is small-ish and they are all so nice. There is a larger one the weekend of the 16th but I looked at their facebook page and it looks like an over-crowded flea market. It's probably fine, but I'm not that into crafty things. irisinnia , you can do it! Check youtube for "easy arm firming exercises", they use simple at-home things like vegetable cans lol. Actually I love the videos that don't require a gym or expensive equipment cj59 , I hope your rough days are getting better:) I can't keep some foods in the house because I have zero control. Cheetos are one lol. I told son and DH both they need to eat them in their cars and hide the evidence I meal prepped for Murray yesterday to get that out of the way. I am not happy with the containers I bought on amazon this time. I've used the Reditainer brand several times and this batch leaks at the lid, they are too loose. I used them, but they're getting tossed as I thaw them out. Too late to return them since I actually bought them months ago and was using the containers I already had to freeze his foods until they cracked.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are enjoying your weekend
irisinnia - I agree about the honeymoon phase of dieting, it is a really great feeling. I'm glad you are doing well so. Your personal challenge for the dress is a good idea, I know you can do it.
I don't know if I'm the best person to ask about maintenance, since I haven't done well with it But a few things that worked for me was tracking my food, meal planning, planning exercise and always eating my daily minimums of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, dairy.
sunrose - Hope your workshop went well, and you were able to get some walking in. A lot of my issues with food go back to my childhood. I know I would probably benefit from therapy, but I don't have the energy for it right now.
DotRen - The market looks nice and it's really great that you can get some fresh food. It's easier to eat healthy with options like that.
I've been overeating this weekend, but still trying to get in fruits, vegetables and dairy. I also walked 45 minutes each day, so hopefully I haven't done too bad. I told myself if I was going to overeat then I had to do a 45 minute walk. I also make sure to get at least 12,000 steps a day on my Fitbit. I was doing over 15,000 steps most days, so I can see how much my fitness level has dropped.
I have accepted that right now I can't have any food in the house that is tempting to me, because I will eat it. So I'll need to try to keep those things out of the house and just have foods for my regular meals. Maybe at some point I'll be able to portion control my eating of higher calorie/point foods, but I can't do it right now.
Take care everyone!

Good morning
dotren, so nice you have the market to go to. I use to live near one that had so many things (crafts, veggies, puppies, chickens, etc.) The veggies in the summer were amazing.
cj59, I hear ya about not keeping food in the house that you cannot resist. I threw out the remaining jellybeans. I also stood strong against the Easter candy at the store yesterday. You are doing good!
Waving to all
It snowed most of yesterday with freezing rain. So no snow to shovel, but will have to wait until the sun warms the roads to walk. So I think I will walk on the TM.

Texas weather... mid 70s then in the 40s lol. I blinked! Hopefully the clouds will clear out, we haven't had sun in a week.
Well, they tore the house across the street down to pretty much the bare bones over the last 3 weeks, and built in the garage, re-did everything. It's been very noisy from about 7am until dark - sometimes later if they're working inside. Ok, can deal with that. Today they're painting the inside with all the doors and windows open and the wind is blowing the fumes this way. I've had a headache since they started 2 hours ago.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today sunrose - Good for you on passing up the Easter candy. I can't guarantee I won't get anymore before Easter, but I hope I can limit it if I do. DotRen - Hope your headache got better as the day went on. I get migraines from certain scents, so I sympathize with you. I got all the junk food out of the house, we'll see how long that lasts I have to go grocery shopping this week and I used to be really strong when I went and resisted foods that weren't on my plan, but I'm a lot weaker right now. Hopefully I can do well this week. I have been getting in my exercise each day and I kept myself busy today so there wasn't a lot of time to sit around and eat. It's the evenings that I was doing badly with eating too much after dinner. I need to get back into the habit of brushing my teeth early so I won't eat anymore. Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans.

Hello Everyone! The scale was mean to me today, so I've been grumpy. lol Thank you all for your kind words and advice, they really pulled me out of my slump! cj59, Brushing your teeth after dinner is a great idea! What a fantastic cue! Great job on the exercising and do you make a list before you shop? You could just make a "stick to the list" rule. Study's actually show people will overbuy up to 20% more when they don't stick to the list so it's a financial decision. DotRen, Ugh! I'm so sorry about the fumes! That must be awful. I hope you feel better soon! sunrose49, Tough weather. Glad you can use the TM to get that exercise in! It's always a good time to get back on track! I'll see you all tomorrow!

Good morning dotren, sorry about the construction. It's been going on here for about 7 years. Hope you are feeling better today and the paining is done. cj59, good for you getting the bad stuff out. I can't promise either that I won't buy some Easter candy before it is gone. irisinnia, you are right it is always a good time to get back on track! Waving to all The sun is out today--yay!! Plan on a very nice 4 mile walk this morning. Then doggie walking this afternoon.
