fullmahina If you see on the news that a central CA woman goes on a rampage at CVS, it's me. So today I was driving home from my appointment and I got a call from the robot at CVS that my 2 prescriptions were ready and if not picked up today, they would be returned to the shelf. Five minutes later I was at the pharmacy and they had already returned them. I called a week ago to say I was out of town and would be picking them up today. I had to wait for them to refill them which took away my dog walking time. Then earlier today I called to renew 4 of my husband's prescriptions, 90 days refill, and the robot said there were no refills and it would not call the doctor's office. I beg your pardon. So today at 5 I called and spoke to a pharmacist. He said he couldn't understand why those things happened to me but he would call my husband's doctor for the refills. My wait time made me have less than 20 minutes to prepare and eat lunch because I had to be at my grandson's room at 12:30. I did not go on a rampage but it was close.

I see I didn't even post today. I saw the ortho doctor and he said my knee is healed so I do not have to see him again. Then I went to Fresno Ag and bought a red bell pepper plant and a purple bell pepper plant. After that was CVS and then I volunteered in my grandson's kindergarten classroom 12:30 to 2 p.m. I am doing it Monday and Tuesday until the end of the school year. The children are so sweet. The school is a GATE magnet but it is in downtown near Community Regional Medical Center so most of the children are neighborhood kids and very poor. I helped with math groups. They were learning subtraction and how to write an equation. They drew 6 kites, crossed out two, colored them and then wrote 6-2=4 with numbers facing the right direction. School is so much more fun than when mine were in school. It was one boy's birthday so the teacher played the Beatles "It's Your Birthday" song and video. They were all very engaged. I return tomorrow afternoon.

Jamescat!- what is a GATE magnet school? I don't know much about magnet or charter schools or the difference between the two, borntexan, Our spring break will be in April, but it got cur short because of snow. We were going to have Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Monday off (that is our Spring break, they are not allowed to call it Easter Break anymore). But now we only have Friday as Thursday and Monday are snow make up days.

If you see on the news that a central CA woman goes on a rampage at CVS, it's me. LOL---I guess all we can do is practice "caveat emptor." Be super vigilant and on top of things. When I saw the mistake they made with my prescriptions the first thing I thought was "what about that person who is NOT vigilant---how much harm has there been because of CVS errors?" What if this had been a cardiac medication or a med necessary to prevent organ rejection? (I have a gift for imagining worst-case scenarios---makes for a good ICU nurse but can make the rest of your life miserable, lol.) We all know that some human errors are inevitable but it's disturbing to see such things, nonetheless.

jamescat1 My brother used to be a manager of a small CVS.He said those automated calls come from corporate and the individual stores have nothing to do with it but how did it know you hadn't picked up your refills?I guess they have changed since he was there. The one in Elgin is really bad and I won't even go in there anymore.

fullmahina, jamescat1, recently I’m seeing a trend. Many Rx from Walgreen’s and Costco are coming in sealed bottles from the pharma manufacturers and the pharmacy just pastes the Rx labels on the bottles. I wonder if this has anything to do with avoiding errors. I can remember some years ago when I used Walgreen’s that every Rx filled by one pharmacist was double-checked by another before it was shelved for pick-up. Nowadays we’re luck to find even a single pharmacist behind the counter; I’m sure that if they could find a way around the laws that require a pharmacy to be closed if there is not a pharmacist in attendance they would. The most frequent mistake I’ve had is with my insulin. I use insulin in pen needles. The pens come five to a box. My dose for one of them is such that I need more than five pens a month, so I get two boxes every 42 days. But I’ve had several instances when I opened all the bags before paying and found out that I had been shorted a box of pens. That’s like a $1K windfall for the pharmacy.

fullmahina borntexan zazzles Speaking to a well educated pharmacist made a world of difference I got a text at 8 p.m. that the meds were ready and I could use express pay and get them at the 24 hour window last night. Well, of course there was a glitch with express pay and it would not process so I will pick them up today. They have to do something about those automated calls. In the past two days I've gone through them with CVS, Nordstrom and Comcast. Please let me speak to a person who is smart and speaks clearly.

When I was using CVS I had a royal battle about the phone calls. The pharmacy staff hads NO control over them. They can’t turn them on or off. I was repeatedly told I had to call CVS central, and when I did there was NO way to get to an actual human. I finally went to their web site and found a way to send an email and sent one which was scathing. After they got the email, THEN I got a call from a human. I read them a riot act, then told them to take my phone number completely out of their system and never call me again. My problem with their phone calls was that they absolutely never made them at a convenient time. It was almost a guarantee that the calls would come in while I was driving. And when I’d pick the calls up using the car’s speakerphone, the calls would then require me to “press 1, press 3, press 4-5-6” which was impossible to do so I’d just hang up; and they system would call back two or more times. The amazing thing to me was that CVS had no option for receiving notices by email, nor for selecting which RXs you received notifications for. The world has gone mad with telephony robots, and they are getting less intelligent instead of moreso.

I keep getting a vision of "HAL" from 2001 Space Odyssey and in the future, I see me getting a phone call from a robot telling me I can not get my RX or that I must get a RX and there are no humans left to talk to. Very frustrating. jamescat1, I'm glad you were able to talk to someone who actually helped.
