Mnuchin is such a piece of you know what. The clips of his exchange with Maxine Waters really reveal a lot about him as a person, and I thought Waters handled it all very well. She was not about to let him bulldoze her. No wonder he gets along so well with the JA. They are two of a kind. Remember early on in his tenure all the flagrant abuse of travel with his wife at taxpayer expense, and that repulsive picture of the two of them at the US Mint. As I watched the clips, all I could think was how disgusting he was and "Go Maxine!"
As for Barr, he clearly is there to curry favor from and protect the JA. Now he's investigating the FBI?! Trump seems to be getting exactly what he wants, complete power over everything. Barr is never going to release anything that he thinks might hurt Trump. It's like they are all part of a Mafia and Trump is the Godfather, except that Don Corleone probably had more scruples.

I could see she was furious when he said he had an "important" meeting - I'd have snarked "so you don't think THIS is important?" - she did control herself well.

Interesting about Julian Assange's arrest. He looked really old to me in that clip where they're dragging him out of the Embassy, but according to Google he is only 47. I thought that in that clip he looked 85-90, so that's why I looked it up as I was surprised.

I was surprised too, Joyce, by Assange's age.
Remember when the political news was so boring "in the good ole days" & we went about our business without a lot worry or concern. Now, I wake up every morning, walk into the kitchen where DH has the TV on & its continual breaking news every day, all day long!...SIGH! No wonder we are all mentally drained.

You said it, Linda! I think we all do just feel mentally drained, and discouraged by this whole "mess." I wish we would soon see some sign of hope that things will get better. It's 24/7 of negativity. Anyone know of anything to give us hope?

Honestly, not really lol. I always assume someone is "listening in" either on cell phones, through email, social media through trackers or whatever. I have 3 echo dots and I listen to the news, music, trivia and the weather mostly. There have been times when I ask about a supplement or something, and when I go to amazon it's in my "suggested for you" items, so I just assume.

I know they monitor everything you search for online, and probably anything you give Alexa a command to do; but, I guess what seems really creepy to me is the thought of thousands of people sitting in rooms somewhere with headphones just listening to random conversations. Of course, Alexa is supposed to only activate when you use "her" wake-up word, but we all know that isn't always the case. LOL! I had to unplug mine when our Texas granddaughter was here because her name is Alexa. I would think we would have an expectation of privacy right within our homes, but maybe not. Maybe you give up that right when you install one of these. There is supposed to be a way within the privacy settings of the app to turn this off. I don't mind their recording commands, or knowing products I search for online. It creeps me out though to think someone may be listening when I'm just having a conversation with someone in my living room.

Cheating on your taxes must be in the Trump family DNA. Sister Maryanne just had to resign from her role as a Federal Appellate Judge in order to stop the investigation into whether or not she broke judicial conduct rules. Cheating, lying, taking advantage of people just seems to come naturally to them and everyone within their orbit.

JA sister also, gets her full salary as pension for life when she resigned. Lordy, Lordy! That kind of sucks in my world. Guess Daddy Fred taught his children some good ethical values, didn't he! UGH!

They seem to have learned all the tricks well. The only way I wouldn't mind paying for that family for life would be if they were all locked up in a federal penitentiary somewhere.

Happy Friday everyone! Even retired somehow Fridays seem special still.
@lka5, Linda, I saw a photo on TV from North Dakota with LOTS of snow. Did you get that in your area?
Biden is being attacked now for his stance against busing and the fact that he sought help from segregationists to fight that. He's not even officially declared yet, and he's coming under a lot of attacks. Republicans must be really worried about his chances. Kasich says Biden is the Democrat that the JA should be most worried about.
Mayor Pete is coming on strong. He's still far behind Biden and Bernie, but he's moved into 3rd place in Iowa. I wonder if he can keep the momentum going? Beto seems to be falling back, and that doesn't surprise me. So far I just haven't seen anything impressive about him at all.
It's hard to put a lot of faith in polls this early, and really throughout the election cycle after 2016. All the polls predicted Hillary was going to win, and look what happened. So I'm not sure polls are worth much of anything anymore. A Ouija board might do just as well.

Joyce, no snow in my corner of the state. We were on the edge of this huge storm, thank goodness.
I just don't know what to think about Biden running. I'm still on the fence about it. I like the guy, but his age & some of his baggage worries me. Of course, all come with baggage, but he has a long history in politics, so that makes for more fodder.
Mayor Pete impresses me way more than Beto. Mayor Pete has such a soothing calming tone when he speaks.
Off topic, but this pay for college scandal still has me shaking my head. Lori Laughlin's daughter is "upset" because she has lost so many friends because of what her parents did. She is supposedly also mad at her parents. Excuse me, but, Please! If you get into a college on a rowing scholarship & you've never rowed in your life, you are just as guilty as your parents! How can you claim you didn't know this was happening. Especially when you are online saying you only went to school to party. She has the same values her parents are accused of IMHO! Not sure why this struck a nerve with me this morning, when I read an article, but it did.
