This thread was started before the dawn of time by Amazons who needed to compare their stats with other Amazons. Over time it grew into a community of incredible women who try to keep their spirits in the clouds and their feet on the ground, moving toward health. Most of us start at 5'7 and go up from there, from young singles to wise and lively elders of the tribe. We welcome newcomers who are willing to be kind and share a bit of their lives.

Good morning, sweet mug mates!
Local wind chills are trying to catch up with the deep lows north of here; Linda, I'm shivering at your 18 below. We are 19 above. I hope everyone's animals are safe! And you harvest your eggs before they are frozen. Wait, that sounds kind of medical. Anyway, you know what I mean.
What a nice family day yesterday! We hiked; we baked cookies; we decorated them, very badly; we shared a lovely dinner. Lots of laughs.
I invested in a whole prime tenderloin from Costco and watched some videos on how to trim and tie it; I was very happy with my handiwork. Lynne sent me some cooking instructions to sear on high in the oven rather than on the stove per the recipe I was using, and the results were outstanding. My new Thermapen probe did all the work of temperature management, thanks to thoughtful DH giving me the present early. Lots of good veggies alongside, no dessert. It was great to walk away from the table without feeling as if I'd swallowed a dachshund.
A ferocious Snorlax got into my room last night and drove me out into the night. A nap may be in order. I'm sticking close to home today, and I may get into a new novel.
Martha, I understand completely about the avoidance of icy streets. My mother's preoccupation with traffic disasters is reincarnating in my own brain, and I will not venture out on untreated streets. Stay cozy!
DD has an interview tomorrow. Prayers are welcomed by her Mama.

Here's one mug mate, still warm from the bed. Happy to hear the dachshunds were all safe, T!
I fell asleep on the sofa late yesterday afternoon, got up long enough to have a piece of bread with peanut butter, and put the cookies in a container. DH had a bowl of cereal. Then, slept through the night until 7 bells this morning. Fitbit died during the process so my step goal was only partially documented.
It's subzero here too, which will make clearing the decks not quite as much fun as the first snow. The wind seems to have subsided, so it's my hope we can get some groceries.
Lots of prayers going out; for safe travels, new jobs, warm pets/animals, continued good health. You are all always in my heart.

Hello CATs I don't know if others will join us here today but it's grand to see Nancy and T!
Nancy, it was 27 here this morning and expected high is only in the 30s. I wish we had some snow to go with it so please enjoy just even a short walk in the white stuff for me. T, I hope you make time for that novel. There's nothing more restorative as far as I'm concerned. Linda, how lovely to find those nice warm eggs! Wishing I could have some cheesecake. I'll bet you don't even care to eat it after baking so many. When will they all get delivered?
I did neglect my walk this morning to sit by the fire with my book and hot beverage. It was so peaceful! I've got laundry churning and the rest of the day with nothing to do but cook DH some dinner. I might also break open a pomegranate to have on my morning granola.
I hope some of our missing CATs will make checking in part of their NEW YEAR resolutions. I miss them!

My walk in the white stuff, Anne, was the time I spent shoveling and sweeping the decks. I also filled the bird buffet and squirrel bowl. Our Cardinal couple showed up today; so striking against the glittery white of the snow. We even had a couple of bunnies stop in for a nibble or two.
DH and I filled the back of my little truck with all things Christmas; paper products, new games/movies, meat, fresh veggies. I'm treating myself with some time off by buying Dove chocolates instead of making candy, and a Stouffer's lasagna to give me a kitchen break at some point. Bread dough is mixed, formed. and frozen. The cookies will wait for frosting, I think, unless I get a surge of energy.
For now, I'm huddled under my furry blanket, trying to get warm after my outside chores. Z is watching the birds with me, only he's by the door.

I've had a very full day, but the best part was seeing Arrival with DH and DS.

This busy last weekend before Christmas has come and gone quickly! Two (or three) days left to work this week before the traveling and festivities get underway. I spent the day yesterday going with MM to his GS's 9th BD party. We didn't have much visiting time with all his friends there, but he will remember that we made the trip to be there. This morning we went to church - both of us for the first time in a year or so. We were raised in the same denomination and have pretty similar, liberal views. We may ease ourselves back into going more regularly. I spent the rest of the day on grocery shopping, laundry and a much needed mani/pedi session. Now the trick is to head to bed on time and be ready to get up and hit the treadmill in the morning!
I've done a pretty good job so far about not letting myself be stressed out with all the holiday to dos. This year is going to be different on so many fronts and I am trying to just go with the flow. Minimal presents, minimal baking, minimal decorations and maximum enjoyment is the plan! I hope I don't wake up in a panic later this week and wonder what I was thinking!!
I hope everyone stays warm this week. We are expecting a quick cold snap after hitting 70 with rain this afternoon, but Christmas promises to be mild with highs in the 50s. I'd rather have it a bit colder, but will take that above frigid for sure!
Off to bed while I can still get there on time. Have a great start to the week.

Hello! How are you? I am in a hotel awaiting our departure time. It was sad to leave the house. It is so beautiful and everything I like in a home. We had so many hopes and desires which didn't workout. Even though it's for the best, it still is sad.
T: your day sounds good. Including dinner! Are you traveling the the House in the Woods over break? S: I think it's nice that you went to church with MM in sounds like you have a lot in common. What are you giving him on the 25th? Or should I say, what is HE giving you?
I have to type something into the boards this week. Apparently it is tradition to celebrate the Winter Solstice by burning the Yuletide log and writing down your regrets on paper and burning them. I will definitely do that this year. I think Mrs.Kate does a modified version on New Years. I need to research it more.
Anne: have you read commonwealth? I have started it, but haven't gone that far.
I am out of time. Il, check in mid week.
