Poem for the day. I got a kick out of this one as it was written by a man, how about that!!
The Easter Parade
What shall I wear for the Easter Parade? A dress that’s the color of marmalade With a border embroidered in light blue cornflowers Like the edge of a meadow after spring showers And a matching hat round as a top you can spin And elastic to hold it on under my chin And brand-new shoes whiter than newly-poured cream With heart-shaped, golden buckles that gleam;
And I’ll carry a small purse of butterfly blue With a penny for me and a penny for you To buy us both glasses of cold lemonade When we walk, hand in hand, in the Easter Parade.
~Author William Jay Smith~
We had a really strong thunder storm, tornado warnings, it is that time of year for us. Some areas without power but I am good. It was really beautiful, it got so dark all at once and the trees were really blowing, lightning flashing and for sound effects Loud thunder. My DSIL called to check on me as he said it was sure dark in the sky my way. They didn’t lose power in their area either.
Got my Easter cards all addressed and ready to be sent out tomorrow. Have 3 packages to send also so that will be a trip to post office. Maybe a stop at Rite Aid if it isn’t raining too hard. I found out I need 2 more friend cards. Will check on all the sale items.
Hope you all had a good Sunday and a whole new start to the week.

April
April, like life is a mood full of swings up and then down sunny, then not A minute can change what it means
The world awakens from a long winters nap it yawns and stretches and grins. And just when the season changed for good reason I stood and looked again
A new blade of grass a meadowlark The sights and sounds of spring
No need to wonder if there is a God? There is a God! And heaven is always green

Last night was interesting. Maybean always sleeps in the back bedroom with the door closed when we have him as he gets into too much stuff if the door is open. We had put a new blanket we bought on our trip on the bed for him as it's like the blanket he has at home and he loved it! Well he started meowing and I felt so bad for him that I went in and laid in the bed and he walked all up and down my body then gave me a nip on my cheek and settled down right next to me and we both went to sleep and I didn't wake up until 6 this morning! Haven't slept that late in forever!
Bridgette chased him when we first brought them all home and she never does that but then Bailey has been very cautious around him and Maybean has pretty much stayed away from them so it'll be interesting how the next 10 days go. With that blanket on the bed Maybean seems to want to just stay there. The top of the blanket is smooth but the underside is like lambs wool and he sucks on that part and kneads it like kittens do to their mother when nursing. He does that with his blanket at home as well and we think it's because he never got weaned before he was either lost or taken away by her as he was found in a tree.

I love the poems today. Oh, for the days when Easter Sunday was a special day for church even for those C and E Christians. Christmas and Easter. We dressed in our best for church on regular Sundays but Easter was a new spring dress and an Easter egg hunt that afternoon. Real eggs too. I remember the first Easter that we had candy eggs. Remember how we hid the eggs over and over all afternoon.
Did you ever attend an Easter Sunrise Service?
Cat, are you into another round of the crud?
Have a great Monday and week everyone. HUMMINGBIRD LUCY

Breakfast soon. Maybe pancakes! Excitement builds!

Cat, think I have all the Kleenix replaced in all my rooms now. there was no sale this time so doing it slowly. This crud is so fun at all!! I would say maybe you are on the downside now but boy took awhile to get my energy back and I didn't have the cough. Hang in there!! it will get better.
Kathie, I think all hummingbirds are beautiful. But Lucy's picture is sure special.
Looking around here looks like we didn't get any damage in my neighborhood and not even too many branches down. Our trees sure have gotten a cleaning out starting with the winter and lately. For some reason a lot of small twigs in my front yard this time. Maybe blown over from the maple across the street, it is different than mine. All old and huge!!
I am off to post office in a bit to mail packages, hoping I miss the Monday rush. Will stop and get the 2 Easter cards I still need. Guess the list didn't help!!
Jenny, I'll bet that poem is one of yours. Thanks for posting it. I never used to like poetry but quite a few years ago I began to appreciate it.
We are cooler here today after the storm 42° but wait a day and it will change again. Still a bit windy and had to bring my dumpster in the garage early this morning. My neighbors son saw it tipped over and set it back up for me but it won't stay as there isn't much in it. they have had a death in the family and young mother and wife 29 years old from drugs. It is so sad. Seems like every family gets touched from drugs in some way.

Easter Parade
Judy Garland
Never saw you look quite so pretty before. Never saw you dressed quite so lovely, what's more. I could hardly wait to keep our date this lovely Easter morning, And my heart beat fast as I came through the door for:
In your Easter bonnet with all the frills upon it, You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter Parade. I'll be all in clover, and when they look you over I'll be the proudest fellow in the Easter Parade.
On the Avenue, Fifth Avenue, The photographers will snap us And you'll find that you're in the rotogravure. Oh, I could write a sonnet about your Easter bonnet And of the girl I'm taking to the Easter Parade.

To answer Easter questions. Yes we went to sunrise service quite a few times when my MOM and DAD belonged to the Methodist Church across the street from us. We went to the local dam and had the service and the Men's club ( forgot what it was called) cooked breakfast on the grills. Bacon, sausage, eggs and even toast on the grill. I can still smell that bacon in the open cool air. It was always cold for Easter Sunrise service but nice by the water.
Easter egg hunts, no we didn't do that but My mom hid our Easter baskets and I carried on that tradition as did my girls for years. My DGKids still want a basket from Moms. and they still do it for them if they are going to be home for Easter.!!
No Easter parade when I was a kid we got new outfits for Church. I remember my first pair of nylons was for Easter Sunday and my first pair of kitten heels. I felt so grown up. Sang in choir and hated to put on the robe, funny what we remember!! My Brother usually got a new suit as did Dad and Mom was in new dress as well. Later in life wondered how they did that as we didn't really get many new clothes. Maybe that was our Church clothes for rest of summer. Can't remember that. Just remember them new!! Wonder if Mom had a Easter slush fund!?? Never did get to ask that question of her.
