Report on the brownie pan -- I know you are all waiting with bated breath (sarcasm doesn't become me, right?) This is the Red Copper pan shown on TV commercials with dividers (much like the old aluminum ice trays) to bake individual brownies, cornbread, or . . . . I bought it at Bed Bath & Beyond.
I sprayed the pan and the dividers with Pam before baking. After baking, I ran a knife around the inside of the pan to get the edges to release, but then I was able to push the base up through the outside of the pan. The dividers came out pretty easily, and the brownies, themselves, are picking up easily. I used two boxes of Betty Crocker fudge brownie mix. The two, together, were a little too much for the pan -- they raised over the top of the pan and the dividers. They are huge -- about 2" tall! I could have used one mix at a time and had a lot of flatter brownies. It just takes a time or two using a pan to learn its idiosyncrasies. They are really tasty!
So, there you go! Sorry if I've wasted your time, but I really wanted one of these pans, and one of you may be wondering (as I was) if the pan worked as advertised.

thanks for the information on the Brownie pan, Molly I have looked at them and wondered how they would work. sounds like they do. I am a little upset with the brownie mixes that have gotten smaller. 2 boxes too much for a 13x9 pan and just one box fits none of my pyrex pans. don't like thin brownies. Sounds like the same thing for the brownie pan. If you figure out what mix to use let us know. Or maybe a home made from scratch recipe. Prices go up and the sizes keep going down.
Lunch with friends went fine. Old place new owners and really good fish but since sometime fish does not agree with me I had the meatball Parmesian sandwich with sauce. Next time will order more sauce on the sandwich. Really good home made bread buns. this place has huge real burning fireplace all along one wall with mortared bricks. so pretty and they had the bricks professionally cleaned. Wow what a difference that made. I am impressed.
Dreary day but not raining all day like they said, just sprinkles this morning.

Waylon and I had a busy morning. It started with a load of laundry. Then we went to the pet store to get Waylon's dog food. (He has enough for dinner tonight, but not enough for breakfast in the morning!!) While we were in there two big dogs came in - one for grooming and one shopping. Waylon just sat there and looked at them - normally he wants to go see other dogs. Then we went to the bank to make a deposit. Tonight we are going to Card Fun (hope I win a game - I can use the money!).

Nancy, you know that I'm crazy about Waylon, right? Just saw a 1-year-old yellow lab on the Central Missouri Humane Society site. If I could adopt it, I sure would! I wonder why Waylon didn't want to make friends with the other dogs. Maybe he knew their attitude wouldn't be receptive.
Connie, yes, the pan works. I think the one mix would have been okay, but you're right, the brownies would have been thin. I agree about the mixes . . . they should be sized to fill a 13x9 pan. Period. Also, when I was cleaning up, I noticed that my knife had scratched in the corner of the pan when I was loosening the edges. The ad says it's practically indestructible, but my plain old table knife did scratch it.
I was surprised to find the pan had a flat bottom tray inside the outside surround. The outside frame has a rectangular hole in the bottom. The box included a gizmo to put under the hole when the food is done, and the baker presses down on the edge of the pan so that the entire cake/cookies on the tray, come loose and are raised from the surrounding pan. (Clear as mud?) If so, I can take a photo.
I began making my meal plans for the kids' visit, and I'm finding that I have no plan for lunch or supper on Saturday. I will get some deli turkey and ham on my trip to get the girls. That should do it. I do have the chicken thighs, but I don't know how they feel about cold chicken. ~~Molly

my favorite sandwich is cold chicken, Miracle Whip and banana peppers the mild kind. Real chicken not the deli sandwich meat and don't care if it is breast or thigh. Yum. don't want the bread toasted and don't want it on buns, just white bread!! I am fussy about my chicken sandwich. As you can see. I do understand what you are talking about the pan. Think I saw it demonstrated on TV one evening on an infomercial.
Slow quiet day here, put my new solar lights in today, Ground is wet and after making a hole with large screwdriver it was easy to poke the 3 of them in the ground. this time I got old brushed looking brass and looks nice with my yellow house. ( not the shiny brass) Have one that is a Lady bug that I will put on side of garage in the garden there. Front of house is holly bushes and side of garage is a lot of strange ground cover and one tall lily. Not sure what kind but is a dark pink. and only gets one flower and then is done. !! My neighbor gave it to me a couple years ago. Some years it does good other years not so much.
By that time my back was telling me to stop. so I did. Now working on some camisoles, know a few of them need tossed. Going to double up on one hanger and that will free up some hangers for other things. Seems like I am always buying hangers.

Good Evening Connie and Awesome Aprils,
Hello Everyone!
I've missed posting and reading here for quite a while. I'll be here in the morning to get the train going for the first time in what seems like a long time.
This all started when I spilled a small amount of coffee on my computer keyboard. It started skipping letters and just kept getting worse. MJ took it to our local computer repair place and they looked it over and said it needed a few things done. They fixed those and some other things caused problems. They finally said I needed a new keyboard and ordered it. I'm not sure how it happened, but the keyboard was sent to the wrong place and it ended up even further away. They finally got everything straightened out and I got my computer back late yesterday afternoon.
I hope now everything will go well and I'll be able to post again. We'll find out tomorrow morning.
Doris

Welcome back Doris! So happy to have you back with us!
Phyl, when you use your pan, be careful not to over-fill it as I did. You can learn from my mistake. The girls say they really like BIG brownies! LOL!
After we picked up the girls from school, we drove to their house to check out some things DD thought she might have forgotten. All was well, and the cats were happy to see us. The traffic on highway 63 was horrendous! I guess it was a combination of Easter and time of day.
The wind is blowing so hard that we may not be able to start the fire to roast hot dogs. Since I didn't get to the store to buy deli meat, we will probably see if the kids like chicken sandwiches.
I've been enjoying several books by Lisa Gardner. Guess I need to post on Connie's "reading" thread about them. "Enjoying" doesn't seem like the correct verb to use when describing a book about murder and mystery.
This will be my goodnight! Sleep well, and wake with joy! ~~Mollyann

Lots of good pictures today.
I have worked outside all day - lots of calories were burned:) The raking is done but we still have quite a few leaves & needles to burn. I cut all the remaining dead leaves from the iris & hostas. Think I'm ready to spread mulch but have to buy a couple bags. Will probably do that after church Sunday - don't think I'll make a special trip to town get it. I need another bag of fertilizer too. I mix that with garden soil &spread over the flower beds. I have three single flowering plants that I think I'll transplant & them all into a flower bed.
I went for a walk this afternoon & so far have 8765 steps. I will probably walk again after supper so I get 10,000. A year ago I never thought I would walk that far in one day ever again. I was in a lot of pain then but do my exercises faithfully now & have learned my limits. I'm most thankful to be improving instead of declining. Hope it continues.
Molly, you seem to do a lot of baking. How do you handle that & not gain? would you mind posting our recipe for the bran muffins? I use to have a good one but can't find it anymore. I may have thrown it away because it was a huge recipe & I was the only one that ate them. I prefer muffins over cake or cookies. Great way to start my day with coffee! I should make my three chocolate zucchini muffins again. Those & blueberry I make the most.
It will just be DH & I for Easter. We have become accustomed to being alone after years of traveling. I haven't planned anything special to eat. We may go out for breakfast after church & that may be our main meal. We live & eat pretty simple.
Have a great evening..... Tomorrow's the last day to submit your May theme
P.S. Welcome back Doris. So happy you have everything working again. We missed you:)

I went with my DDIL and her maid of honor to have our toe nails done today and now have beautiful nails that will hide in my sneakers. I can't wear sandals on the ranch and if I wear them at the beach house I have problems using my feet to hold the wheel chair. I am hoping tomorrow my ex-tenant will be here to start painting the house for the new tenants.
Doris it is good to see you back with us. I spilled a bottle of soda on my laptop computer so I bought a keyboard and hooked it to the laptop and continued to use it for a long time. That laptop now won't connect to the internet anymore and they don't sell the repair part anymore so I really need a new laptop but I've been using my IPad that my kids bought me when I was in the hospital last year. So, I don't do as well posting anymore from the beach house because I can't pull up a 2nd screen to keep going back and forth.
Tucking you all in now in LAVENDER BLANKETS WITH A BUTTERFLY IN THE MIDDLE...sweet dreams!
Butterfly Kathie
