How do you know what to set it at?

Hey, Quark! This might be better-placed on the GENERAL board. Lots more people will read and hopefully reply. Peace. DebDoesWW...

Thanks diva49! quark12000, it really depends where you are at on your journey. If you are close to the top end already then you might want to go midrange or towards the bottom. If you have more to lose then the top end is always a good starting place. Did you find the range in the app for your height?

My first WW journey, when I was a novice, I set to the bottom of the WW chart as many do. Once I got there, I found that it was too low for me—my leg fell asleep every time I crossed my legs, I caught every virus that came within 5,000 ft. of me, I had little energy, etc.
After that experience I raised it to the top of the range, felt better, and found it was much easier to maintain a higher goal weight.
It all depends on how easy or difficult it will be to maintain the weight you pick. Lower goal typically means it’ll take a lot more work to stay at goal.

Because I was saving money,I chose the top end of the goal. But I went down to my personal goal anyways. I did this 20 years and have no regrets.

Back in 2001/2002, I picked a number in the middle of my WW range; it was like a "mystical number" that I dreamed might work for me and I did get there. When I got back to goal in Oct 2016, I took the top number in my range so that I could stop paying WW after 15 years . And then, eating "the way I do", I actually got to that "mystical number" and stayed there without tons of drama until last Fall/Winter. Now I'm even more glad that I picked a higher WW number since certain meds that are now part of my life have caused a slight gain - but I still don't have to pay.

I have done WW Online for the last 6 years and since I had so much to lose I chose the top end of the range.I am comfortably under it and able to maintain it pretty well. The top end is more or less a number I chose to never go over again.

This has changed throughout my life. When I was 26 I thought 138 lbs was perfect. That thought continued until maybe 31 years old. Then at 38 years old I felt pretty hot at 152 lbs and was happy that my blood work had normalized. Now at nearly 48 years old, I'd be happy at 162 lbs and think I'd look good enough to suit myself. My blood work may not be perfect at that weight, but it would be better.
Really, I think my diet itself is more important than a weight, though usually they go down together at least to some degree.
I look at photos from when I was in college at 119 lbs and I see that young lady as looking horribly skinny. I look at my wedding photos and my weight is good at 138 lbs, but I am not particularly shapely. I like curves. At 152 lbs I feel sexy.
I guess 152 lbs is my ideal now. It's funny, though. I remember when I was 152 lbs at 24 years old having my then boyfriend say I looked chunky. How things change!

I don't think WW leaders even bring up the goal weight target until you're closer to it.
But in the WW ranges I chose closer to the top. I'd have to practically starve to get at the middle or low end of the range for my height.

If you're a meeting member they should have the ranges in the materials you would have received when joining. I haven't been to a meeting in ages so not sure if they still provide new members with handbooks of info but if they still do it should be in there. If you've looked through all of it and still don't see it, and don't have the app, then ask a receptionist or leader.

Thanks for posting the link diva49. (Brain typed app while thinking website 🤣) quark12000, the app has just a fraction of what the website does as far as information goes, you really aren't missing anything. I use the website 100% of the time when I go digging for information.

I can’t believe that there doesn’t seem to be a weight range chart on the WW web site any longer. Just BMI BS. But here’s a chart from another web site that puts BMI and corresponding weights together. Find your height, then read down that column to find the BMIs in the green zone and find the corresponding weights in the left column.

I can’t believe that there doesn’t seem to be a weight range chart on the WW web site any longer. Just BMI BS. From my earlier Google search, WW Canada. Nothing came up for WW-USA. www.weightwatchers.ca/health/asm/calc_healthyweight_int.aspxApparently we-all are too Beyond the Scale or Freestyle for anything as mundane as a weight chart <ahem>.
