sunrose49, glad your visit went well I'm sorry about your back. My husband carries his weight in his stomach, too. Has great legs though lol. cj59, Trying to focus on health and well-being instead of the scale is tough, but I need to, also. It's amazing how looking at a number can either make you feel great or defeated. Ok so funny thing: I cooked salmon the other day and DH did not complain about the smell, and I didn't get that "fish stink" smell from it in the house. Son decided he'd take it to work the next day (he loves salmon) and he texted me "well mom, apparently I am the only one in the building that can't smell fish heating up" haha. I had not sent him anything smelly for that reason lol.

Hello Everyone DotRen - That's a funny store about heating up the fish. I remember when I was working how terrible it smelled when someone brought fish in for their lunch! Last night I was so hungry that I decided to eat a little bit even though it was late. I was starting to feel sick and there was no point in suffering. It made me realize that I'm not eating enough each day. It's that old trap of thinking if you eat less you'll lose faster and that's not really true - it just usually makes me sick. So today when I went to the grocery store I bought a few items to add some extra calories to my day, but not junk food. I was feeling like giving up this morning, so I'm glad I managed to fight that and buy healthy food at the grocery store. I'm stocked enough that I don't need to go shopping again for 2 weeks. I'd like to try to do that this summer, so that it keeps me out of the store and away from temptation. Also, it's just a pain buying cold food in the summer Hope everyone checking in is doing well on their plans and that you all have a great weekend!

Hello! Haven't been here in awhile so I thought I'd stop by. I went to a meeting today. A woman was there who had lost 100.2 lbs. She still had more to go, but not enough can be said for how inspirational that was. cj59, Great job buying healthy! I like your strategy. And you're definitely right about the eating less. It's calories in, calories out, and eating a tiny plate of junk can be worse than a big plate of good stuff. Keep up the good work! DotRen, lol The double-edged sword that is fish. I can't fault him though, salmon is the best! sunrose49, I totally understand. My lower back gets injured once in awhile because of the weight in my stomach. It's no joke. Do you also find that your lower back is stiff in the morning or is that just me? I can't bend very much the first hour or two, which is annoying to say the least. Well, I'm off to paint my nails so I can't eat because they're drying. Good luck finding solutions to your challenges this week! See you all soon!

irisinnia - It's good to see you post and I hope you are doing well on your program. When I went to meetings I always found the larger weight loss members motivating too.
I'm still staying on track. It has really helped me to keep any tempting food out of the house. I know that I just don't have any control right now.
Hope everyone else is doing well on their plan and having a good weekend.

Hi there! cj59, Beck is so helpful! I bought the audiobook, which was money well spent. I'm so glad you're feeling motivated. Ride that wave! I didn't do as well as I could have today. It was just a major lack of preplanning. Meals that are made from processed foods with long shelf lives are usually not plan-friendly. That being said, we did finally get to the grocery store today and actually know what we're having for dinner this week, so I am heading in the right direction! "I just love tracking what I eat!" said no one ever. But I'm doing the best I can I hope everyone has a great WI!

Good morning irisinnia, good to see you I tend to have a couple of meals in mind when I go to the store. I have a libreoffice file where I stash ideas, more like an outline, of what I think about cooking so at least I know to buy certain things. My thumb has been messed up on and off for 3 weeks, and I'm not driving or shopping, so I'm using the curbside pickup -at least that saves me $$ because I can't browse/shop in the store lol. I could wait to go on Saturday with DH but I hate grocery shopping with him lol. cj59, good luck on the challenge! I really need to start doing better with wasting produce. I buy with good intentions then end up tossing stuff because I didn't use it and it went bad.

Hello Everyone irisinnia - I'm bad about eating too much processed food too just because it's "easier". It's great having fresh fruits and vegetables, but it's a pain doing all the prep with them. I do like a lot of the Beck practices. Some don't work as well for me, but at least I have a lot of them ingrained in my daily life now. I'm glad you've found it helpful too. Hope you have a good week! DotRen - I've often thought that having groceries delivered would be helpful for eating right, no way to buy any extras or junk if you don't go in the store. I hope your thumb gets better soon, is there nothing that can be done for it? I'm sure that's making it difficult to do regular tasks. I actually keep a list of most of my food with expiration dates, and I'm always aware of any fresh produce I have because I was throwing out a lot too. It's extra work, but I feel better being less wasteful - so I get what you are saying. sunrose - Hope you are O.K. I'm doing well and staying on track. I did weigh myself again (a week after last weigh in) and it looks like I've lost a little. I'm using an old fashioned scale because I can't bear to see the number on the digital scale until I get under a certain point. Yes, I have issues Hope everyone else is doing well and staying on track.

Thanks CJ:) The thumb thing is similar to tennis elbow (they call it gamers thumb but it never bothers me when I'm playing video games lol). I need to wear the brace for several weeks but I take it off to do things then "hey my thumb feels fine" and a day or 2 later I do something to trigger it again. SO I'm going to just try to wear the brace for a couple of weeks like I'm supposed to lol.
Son is sticking on my low-carb plan pretty well, for him (meaning he is not having ramen or popcorn at night and he's cut back to just 1 Mtn Dew a week). DH is another story. When son and I were discussing his meals for lunch, DH got pissy and said "I don't know why you have to cook special meals for him" -I said "I don't. I cook special meals for YOU dear- he and I eat the same things". That shut him up lol. So DH says "well just cook me what you eat, I don't need anything special" ("special" is mashed potatoes, beans, rice, etc) -so I made the egg roll in a bowl for me and son and DH says "just make me sandwiches this week". *sigh* Some days I swear he's more fussy than a 2 year old in need of a nap!

cj59, The old fashioned scale makes perfect sense. I totally get it. Congrats on the weight loss! Every little bit helps. I also love your expiration date idea. It would also help me with all the "potions" that end up taking up an entire shelf in the fridge. DotRen, lol I'm glad you're giving wearing the brace for a couple weeks a try. I'm sure it's super annoying. And ha! Best come back ever for DH. My DH does similar things when I'm full-fledged dieting, and he ends up losing weight anyway because he eats some of the stuff I eat. lol Good luck with all that! The journey is going well! I wanted cake yesterday. I was going to eat it. But then the kids distracted me, and by the time I remembered I said, "Nah". Brushed my teeth, drank some water, and went to bed! Woohoo! I also got plenty of exercise taking the kids to the zoo yesterday. They had a phenomenal time, and as I was pushing the converted stroller with their 4 and 6 year old bodies up a hill, I thought "Yes, I still got it." I'm in pretty good physical shape for being in the obese category, but let's not count on that staying true later in life. Off to work on some Beck review write-ups! I signed up for weeks 3 and 4 on this board and I'm really excited about it! I wish you all many healthy options, few cravings, a lower scale number, and a beautiful day!

Hello Everyone DotRen - Your story about your DH is funny, but I'm sure it's not so funny living it sometimes irisinnia -That was a great win/credit passing on the cake, hope things continue to go well for you I have my meals planned out for the day, so hopefully everything will work out. Hope everyone else is doing well.

cj59, he is funny at times, but he can also be a big old man child lol irisinnia, nice work on the cake Every victory adds up! Good news on the Murray front: almost a month using baby food turkey in his afternoon meal (and I made him some turkey meatballs a few days to try ground turkey) and he seems to not be reacting with any skin issues. I think in 3 or 4 days will be a month, and I have 12 more jars of the turkey, so I'll keep him on it and make double sure. I'm pretty confident that 5-6 weeks would show a problem if there was one. He goes to the vet Saturday for his shots, so I will talk more to them as well. We did change one "environment" thing: I got him a 3ftx5ft grass turf carpet thing to lay on in the yard instead of in the grass or dirt- and he loves it. Hoping not having contact with anything that might have been causing his skin flair-ups might help. We have used Cutter Bug Free backyard spray (you hook it to a hose and spray the yard) for years to keep the mosquitoes, fleas, ticks and fire ants away and it works amazingly well, but when we sprayed (before the turf thing), he ended up having 3-4 spots on his skin within a few days, so I'm thinking chemical reaction. We picked the turf up and then sprayed Friday and put the turf back after it dried and he hasn't had any new spots. Did I mention he loves the turf? I may have to buy another as backup because this one is really thick and soft lol.

DotRen - I'm happy to hear Murphy is better. That was a great idea on the turf for the yard. My last dog had bad skin allergies in the summer, but we didn't keep her outside that much but this would have probably helped her. I'm glad Murphy likes it. I'm doing well and staying on track. Gotta make it to that 100 day mark, and hope I don't go crazy on Day 101

We were a little concerned that the "plastic" grass would cause problems, but he seems to be fine with it. He still gets a spot or 2 that we spot treat and they clear up pretty fast. I found this diaper rash cream called "Calmoseptine". Zinc oxide can be bad for dogs if they eat it, but I only use maybe a pinhead size drop of it on his "spots" and it clears them up pretty fast. And he's really good about not licking anyway. "Helps to protect and heal skin irritations from incontinence, minor burns, scrapes, diaper rash or wound drainage; temporarily relieves discomfort and itching; and provides multipurpose moisture barrier. Contains calamine, zinc oxide, menthol and lanolin." I actually had this for me because I have such a huge response to mosquito bites that it was miserable -I get welts the size of a silver dollar and hugely puffy and itchy. This stuff was recommended by a friend and it helps - so I decided to try it on him and it seems to do the job, too

DotRen - You probably never thought you'd need to learn all that, did you? You are a good dog mommy It's so hot and humid here, but supposed to get better tomorrow. I just stay inside with the blinds closed and curtains pulled to try to keep it cooler. I've been sticking to my food plan and getting in my steps. Doing the 100 day challenge is keeping me motivated not to stop. I have $21 in my little jar now, planning to make it to $100 Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans and in their lives.
