DH returned with good reports. Whew!
I'm watching some recorded "Sewing with Nancy" shows. I know Nancy passed on . . . I think I'll order one or two of her CDs or books. I guess the books would last longer . . . CDs might go the way of video tapes. I had recorded her "Absolutely the Easiest Way To Sew" shows, and just now managed to delete the first one. I pushed down the button to "Do Not Delete" on the remote, but it didn't "take," so when I clicked the main button, it deleted the show. Darn!
Doris, you have such thoughtful granddaughters!
PS: Lucy, the throwing of the ring must have a story behind it. Care to share? I, too, would have been really angry if DH had passed away during his episode in February. Anger is truly a part of grief.
PPS: No, I've not been to the Grand Canyon.

Hi!
I do appreciate all of you who keep this thread running so well. I have never been to the Grand Canyon. I always wanted to go, but something always stopped us.
My grandmother used to make the best blarney stones in the world. These were fingers of sponge cake, glazed with icing and rolled in chopped peanuts. She made them for St Patrick's Day, and we all enjoyed the treat.
I just finished packing the Playmobil! It is done! Now, I just have to decide how to sell it. Hmmm. I know of a consignment store -- may do that. On to the next item of decluttering. The A/C cost a bundle yesterday, but the dishwasher was an easy fix. But it spurred me on to get things sorted and ready to move to an apartment. I hope.
Be happy ! Diane

Summer is finally here - it's currently 81 with predicted highs of 88 and 90 for the next week. I have to setup an appointment to get my ac checked. I haven't turned it on yet. The house stays comfortable with just the overhead fans on. AOTD - yes, I have been to the Grand Canyon. We stopped on the way to California to visit my brother. It's amazing!! No big plans for today, just going to the hardware store to get some furnace filters.

I have been to the Grand Canyon several times. The most memorable was a trip with two exchange students. My younger daughter was visiting older daughter over spring break, so I took our exchange student and one from a. nearby school. We had a wonderful time. It snowed at the GP, Bryce and Zion were beautiful. We also visited my aunt and uncle in Sedona. On another trip when the girl were quite young, younger DD gave my cousins' children who were also visiting chicken pox. Another trip was with my father and late husband. All good memories!
My paternal grandmother was a competent cook. My maternal grandmother served either fried chicken or fried rabbit at our Sunday dinners. Delicious! They had a large backyard with a huge vegetable garden and raised rabbits and chickens. I also remember ice cream with fresh fruit.

Before I get upset, Cat, are you just taking another break from the QOTD or are you finished with it??
Phyl, No have never been to Grand Canyon but have seen a lot of pictures and heard a lot of stories about it from friends and a guy I was dating did a major hiking and back packing trip out west the one summer, he was gone for a month. He told a lot of good stories when he got back and a couple of his favorites to tell were of Grand Canyon. Brought me back a beautiful turquoise necklace that he watched a woman make, have the paper work for it and OOOPs should I have given it back when he broke up with me. Well I didn't!!
Molly I would love to go shopping with you, do you find you need other colors for your clothes now.? When I need a color, some of my colors just don't look as good as they do when I have the fresh color. I love my dark high lights these days. Guess they call them lo lights. What ever I am keeping them. I also get normal light highlights from the sun also. I wear a lot of earring, most of them just tiny studs but the last pierced hole in my ear lob (which was the very first piercing I had done) I usually wear a more dangling one also it usually matches my outfit. Love rings and one on my thumb I only take off to clean. 3 on left hand and 4 on my right. a couple just small bands. I had my engagement ring diamond put in the middle of my wedding band and it is a pendant that I wear most of the time, and it is white gold.
I still have some anger about my DH dying along with the grief. It is better but it is still there. Used to feel guilty about it but not anymore. Seems to be a part of grieving the loss of a loved one, even if it was severe at the beginning.
I climbed out of bed, took my pills and got the stuff that needed to go in the car for the cemetery. Had most of it in there just added the plants and the water jugs. Not going to the creek any more for watering as awhile ago I saw big snake laying on rock. I planted while they were putting a body in the ground in the vicinity. Just the workers and the funeral home person. have never see that done and did take a peek now and then. I did not want to leave and come back and as I made the curve in the road they were blocking that way out anyway. Just at end of the road. I just did my thing!! Hope the plants do well, they should look better now that they are planted. With all the rain and the road was washed out and boy it is bad in spots. Huge drop off just as you come around a corner up the hill. would not want to meet a car or truck there. Would have to back up. Lot of farming equipment in that area. Way out in hunting area. That is why DH picked it. he did not want to be buried in the Catholic cemetery right in town. Okay we abided by his wishes. Gosh that will be 18 years ago in Sept. Today it seemed like yesterday.
I am off to get a shower and get to Tractor Supply for bird seed and kitty litter. My day not done yet. I did stop when I saw the strawberry sign but not going to do anything with them today. Probably in the morning. Will get the jars and lids in the dish washer tonight to sterilize them.
I really like all the names for July. Lucy I think you will have fun with your pictures.

Cat do you mean no QOTD from now on or just for now? Did we upset you somehow?
Well, my prime firestick came and I tried to set it up and got frustrated and quit. Then later I went online and read so I will try something else, but not today. I am tired of messing with it. DD will be here Thursday so she can do it if I can't figure it out tomorrow.
Connie, do you also have a toe ring? My DDIL has one, but she doesn't wear rings on her fingers other than her wedding ring.
Yes, I will have fun with pictures. I do when it is not my month so.....
The temp is 92. Bearly needed to go out and take care of some business. Oh, my. It was hard to breath. That is what humidity does.
Molly, I will not go into my anger issues over DH's sudden death. I only share them like to my sis who's DH went suddenly last August. I told her it was OK to throw a fit. I do not know if she ever did or not.

I am not upset. I am in pain from bursitis. I go from chair to bed. Bed to chair.
No QOTD from now on. Please post one, if you feel like it.

Cat, I love your avatar! Sorry you aren't feeling well.
Lucy, you're right. Anger and grief are a personal thing.
Thanks for the pretty ring!
The guy kitty-cornered across the street mowed his back yard today. It must have been at least 12" high. DH stopped and talked to the kids. He asked if they needed him to mow their yard. They said no, that their daddy was going to do it, and he finally did. I think he is trying to do something to irritate his next-door neighbor (and he's succeeding!) Wish he would think about the rest of us who have been friendly to him.
So, Connie, you have dark highlights added to your hair? Hmm. That sounds like fun! I love rings, but I don't think I could wear more than one on each hand. I only have one hole in each earlobe as well. I always love to hear about your outfits, hair, and jewelry.
About the Grand Canyon. I have trouble with vast gorges and canyons. It took me a long, long, long time to get the courage just to ride the elevator to the bottom of the Royal Gorge in Canyon City, Colorado. My Dad was always doing things to tease me and scare me. Once he grabbed me from behind on the edge of a strip-mine pit. Scared me to death, and I've been afraid of things like that ever since.
No NCIS tonight. Something called Big Brother. Ugh! We will watch National Geographic again. See you tomorrow! ~~Molly

AOTD: I've been to the Grand Canyon several times. The first when my kids were very young. We used to drive from NY where we lived out to CA to visit with relatives out here. And then when DH#1 retired from NYPD we moved out here. Almost every time we crossed the country we stopped at the Grand Canyon. Jim and I went once also shortly after we were married. It is a lovely place.
Tucking you all in now in SKY BLUE BLANKETS COVERED WITH BLINKING FIREFLIES....sweet dreams!
And, -- any ideas for the blankets for July....My birthday is the 13th.
