People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

Where has June gone? Seems like it just started! But as fast as it has gone I have to believe three weeks from Monday will be here before I know it! Found out Jeff still has not paid the property taxes that were due June 4th and his lawyer told Debbie's lawyer they feel she should pay half to which they said forget it as Debbie paid all the taxes last year and that house should have been put on the market and sold which he would not agree to so those taxes are his responsibility!
Fred's golfing this morning and I sure hope he's done early as supposed to get heat index in the 100's today. So I will feed the cats on my own which means I can stay as long as I want after feeding them. I think poor Maybean is getting very tired as when I went to give him a belly rub last night he bit me! Then he meowed and was rubbing against my legs. The kittens always go after my shoe laces and are experts now at untying them! I now have a routine down. When I go in the morning I open the blinds, feed Maija's one beautiful fish, make sure to close her bedroom door after that is done so no cat can get to it, check water bowl, refill kibble dish and then feed the wet food. That is difficult as all three have their heads in the can of food making it almost impossible to get it in their dishes! Then I play with them and watch their interaction and stay about an hour. Then at night I close the blinds, clean the litter boxes, check food dishes, check water bowl and feed the wet food. Debbie doesn't give them a lot of wet food as for three cats she only uses 1 1/2 cans a day. Then yesterday her chewy order came which was two cartons with kitty litter, a carton of wet food and a bag of kibble. Fred and I had to carry the cartons into the garage together then we emptied the cartons and put the contents in the house. Turns out what made them so heavy was the kitty litter.
After the fiasco of gaining weight from the medicine and then losing it with the new medicine I have officially lost three new pounds from the first of the month. So pretty happy with that!

Good morning!
Sandy, congrats on the new weight loss!! Those kitties sound like a lot of fun. I love to watch them play with each other.
Oh my goodness...it's hot here! My goal for today is to try to stay cool. I'm meeting a friend from church in about an hour for coffee. She had to have her DH committed to a mental health facility a few days ago and she needs a bit of morale support from a friend. He'll probably be there until Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm glad to be there for her.
I ended up getting a chef salad yesterday for lunch. It was just too hot to get soup or a hot entree. I was pleased to see that they offered several fat free dressing options. I did get a piece of pie but my friend split it with me. I just couldn't pass up a piece of homemade rhubarb pie!

Good morning. Sharon yesterday a semi filled with a flammable hazardous liquid overturned on 40 so a lot of traffic was pushed to 840. it was 2 hours before they were able to ger the driver out and he was flown to Vanderbilt where he is critical. It was about 12 hours before they were able to open 40 on the west side of Nashville. When you saw signs for Saturn Parkway, Murfreesboro and Knoxville that is where I live. It was probably where you got onto 840 from 65.
Jane don't forget that the man who buys the coins from you wants to sell them for the published amount. Like any middle man he wants to get his share of the profits.
My friend left this morning so I have been up since 4:30. She was moved to Clearmont or Claremont - not sure of the spelling. Not too far from Orlando.
Jeanne returned with 9 year old DGD Kaylee last night. They stopped by to see Hubert since he was returned yesterday morning. I am taking him to another foster this morning and Kaylee is going for the ride with me. She has a young lab who will be a willing playmate until Hubert gets adopted.
Off to dress and get ready for this day with a very active energetic 9 year old.

Vicki a friend just asked me yesterday is I could make a rhubarb pie.
Sandy yesterday was the last day for me to take care of Jeanne's cats. I put the food into the dishes while they are up on the counter so the cats can't get into them. Her cats do not jump up on the counters so this is a safe place to prepare meals for them.
Sharon this morning Nashville had two fires near intersections of interstates in the city. Traffic was a mess again. 90% of what I do is within 3 miles of my home in Spring Hill so I don't have to deal with all that traffic mess.

Good morning.
Geri we were going 840 west and did not have a backup but eastbound was backed up at least 30 miles. Stayed in Clarksville last night. On the road again. Looooong trip.
Vicki I’d eat a piece of homemade rhubarb pie in a heartbeat. Hoping my friend Linda makes one again.
Sandy I’m glad you are enjoying the kittens.

Geri all the cats get on her counters but I was able to distract them this morning and got the dishes filled. Maybean is definitely one very tired kitty. This morning he went downstairs to check the litter boxes, gave a big sigh as again one had business not covered and he shot Buggie a very evil look and proceeded to cover it. So he knows who it is that refuses to learn! But I think Maybean is missing not only Debbie but also Maija as she's been gone for two weeks and four more to go!

Greetings: We're on the bus back to Macungie. Took the one with the scenic route.
We had a great week in NYC.
QOTD: What have you enjoyed most about the summer so far?

Geri I can’t believe Hubert came back. Was he just too active for them?
Karen I’m so glad you and Bill are your enjoying the trip.
Two more days Jane!
AOTD with doctor appts and outpatient surgery and the record Florida heat, I haven’t enjoyed too much. I’m in anticipation mode now looking forward to seeing family and friends. Chuckling to myself that the lady in Cracker Barrel warned us to stay cool. It’s 88 today, nice compared to 99 and an intense sun.
Enjoy the weekend friends. Sharon

My line dance class surprised me with cupcakes, watermelon a nice card and $150. I just can't express how good this group is to me. I am down to 8 after the one marries next week and moves.
Hubert is back. Geri I am so sorry that didn't work out for him. Maybe like Jada was too much for us and Kelcy but puppies don't scratch and tear up the furniture with their claws.
Sharon --yes 2 more days. Today I am going to clear off the area where I charge all my stuff and put it in another room so Jeff can use this space. I will miss looking out the window but rather have Jeff here than a window view.
After class I stopped to take in more coins and they are closed on Sat .and Mon. in the off season. So those are the two days I go past there. I will have to make a special trip on another day.
Sharon-- Evanovich's last book Under the table is OK. Not Stephanie Plum but not just silly so worth the time to read it for just a quick read with a bit of humor.
I do not like rhubarb pie. We had rhubarb growing in our yard when I was a kid and my Mother never used it. That is probably the only pie that does not appeal to me.
AOTD It seems like summer 10 months of the year but the thing I enjoy the most right now--The Snowbirds are gone !!!! The thing I hate about summer here---worrying about hurricanes.

Yay Sandy! Congrats on the weight loss. I love watching my kitty too. So far he has learned to open the spice drawer, the sliding door to the tub, the door to the bedroom that doesn't shut completely, and 'borrow' all sponges, play with them and forget to put them back. I love having him here. Yesterday DD and I picked up some throw pillows with a nautical flair for the couch and a blue and white area rug. Still looking for a comforter set and counter height stools. It is good to be closer to them. I will be watching the dogs when they go for a week's vacay and search for colleges for DGS in August. Good to be able to see them more often and help each other. Tomorrow is my closing in MA. I do not have to be there, a relief since it is a long drive. I finished breakfast at 1 pm. Lazy me Vicki, you are a good friend. Enjoy your DGD, Geri. Safe travels, Sharon. Do you share the driving? AOTD: So far I have most enjoyed relaxing by the view of LI Sound from my window seat and deck, the longer days, and the get together at my cousin's for his twin grands' first birthday party. It was such fun to meet another cousin's significant other and reconnect with everyone. By the way, Karen, I haven't been so regular about getting online. Did you see any shows in NYC? Time to (finally) get dressed and out to food shop. Gail

Sharon not sure what the problem was with traffic, I just know we have had a lot of traffic problems lately.
Yes Hubert was too active for their little dog. I'm sure the dogs would have worked it out, but the wife protects her little baby. Hubert is better off not being in that situation. He went to another foster today. She has kids and a young lab who is very playful. She is an experienced foster and another who watched him when I would out of town for two days offered to take him back if it was necessary. He is now on pet finder and should hopefully get adoted soon. Everyone here who has met him has loved him,
I totally enjoyed having my friend stay. Now I have my DGD. We grocery shopped, paint shopped and had lunch at McAlisters. She is now on you tube and I have showered to get ready for mass this evening. We have been asked to babysit a nightbor's fish. So far so good!

Not much going on today. Mike’s Daughter and son-in-law left. I went to yoga this morning and am now watching mindless TV. Not as hot out today. Temps in high 80s. It looks like rain, which we need.

Jane, That was super sweet of your line dance class. It is so nice to be appreciated like that!
AOTD: it has only been summer officially for 8 days, so our trip to the beach last week was the best thing all summer!

More time spent on the coins today. I did expect to get about half the book value so of course it is disappointing to get only 1/4. I have done a lot of work going thru them. So just looking at it as a gift since it wasn't my money to start with. I can add that to the money from the line dance class and have a lot to spend on something special and if I add the bridge winnings I could buy a new Apple computer. So will think about it.
Today's line dance class I did rain songs and on Monday I am going to teach a new cha cha and do only cha chas. they seem to really like cha chas.
I am having some fun picking out gospel type music to use for line dances. The dances I know to gospel music are much too hard for them to learn. So I have one picked out so far. I would like to have about 6 for the 6 week class and use a different one each week.
The sunset is gorgeous.
