A cousin I love just posted this meme on FB. How do you reconcile the person you have always known, grown up with, and loved with the person who believes this? I really struggle with that. My mind just can't seem to accept it.

. I'm discouraged too, but I refuse to let those idiots win. Its just not who we are. Thank you, Linda! I needed that pep talk. It's true. Joyce is correct. You are a wise woman. I'm blessed to know wise women on here and also in my personal life. I can use all the wisdom I can get. lol. I do get so discouraged sometimes. I know spit happens. But, wonderful things happen too like the time an owl landed on my head and it wasn't even injured. It just hung out there for a few minutes. I was afraid to breathe. My Joyce said the owl wanted to share some wisdom with me. Or, just needed a place to rest. lol. Joyce, that is discouraging and disgusting. The only thing I can say is you never really knew them. Hate and ugly sits in the Oval Office these days and encourages more hate, ugly, and division instead of unity. It's as if he overturned a rock where ugly and hate hid for so long and hate spilled out into the sunshine and began to grow bigger, bolder, and stronger. I know I've said this a million times but unless you have Native American Indian blood running through your veins you are an immigrant. Besides, the people who post all this hate are the ones who need to get the hell out! They're the ones in the wrong country. But, don't get me started.

Wow, Joyce, that is a hard thing to see from someone you think you knew all your life. I'm one that usually bites my tongue with those I know well, like friends & relatives. But, almost 2 years ago, my longtime friend posted something on FB that really showed the hypocrite she was & what I had overlooked most of the time because I didn't want to ruffle feathers, etc. & we had been friends for many years. But I finally had enough. I texted her & called her on it, nicely, I thought. I always thought being friends for years & years meant one could speak your mind & talk it out. NOPE!...She never even bother to respond to my text, she defriended me on FB, plus my son & his wife who I thought she liked. I decided not to reach out & try to mend things after that. Enough was enough. Her kids are like your cousin who post horrific, lying racist things on FB all the time. I decided I would be the hypocrite if I comprised my values & ignored what her kids were doing & saying & she was siding with them. After 2 years of not speaking to her, I honestly don't even miss the friendship as much as I thought. I have no regrets.

Well, I am embroiled in a "Family Feud" now over the FB post. Two other cousins took up this cousin's cause. Fortunately, I have one cousin who sees things the way I do, so right now it is three against two rather than all against me. LOL! Hopefully we will all love each other just as much after this is behind us, but I agree with you that while I am being polite and not arguing that if I just continue to let things like that slide then I am being a hypocrite when I lambaste Republicans on this thread for being hypocrites all the time. I refuse to be one myself. So if I can still love them despite their idiotic and vile ways of thinking, then they'll just have to love me the way I am as well. If they don't then I didn't really lose anything did I? Anyway, one cousin (this one by marriage so we give her a little leniency ) wrote "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck,,,then it probably is a duck." The reason I think that is funny is that her sister-in-law (the one who agrees with me) wrote a long post back, and it included this line which I love referring to Trump, "Yes, if he brays like a donkey and conducts his affairs like a donkey he is indeed an Ass!" Sorry! That's enough of my family saga, but I just thought the ass comment was actually very funny.

TN is a deeply red state, and as much as I love it here I have to admit that when we make the national news it's usually not for something that makes me proud. But, this time we made national news for something that does make me proud. When ICE tried to pick up a hard working, family man in Nashville yesterday for deportation his neighbors came to his defense and didn't let that happen. Yay! Of course, that doesn't mean the man and the neighbors will ultimately win, but it did my heart good to see that these ordinary people stood up for their neighbor. www.cnn.com/2019/07/22/us/nashville-neighbors-help-prevent-ice-arrest/index.html

Joyce, I did see that clip of ICE & TN ... This is where the chipping away of all that is wrong with this administration works. In our own neighborhoods. You know that quote, " a small act of kindness spreads a ripple thru the universe"...This was an example of that.
I will be watching tomorrow also. Keeping my expectations low. I think with Barr trying to shut things down as to what Mueller can say will probably just make the day of testimony a waste of time & frustrating.
JA is trying to go around Congress to take away the Food Stamp Program for millions. I would rather use my tax money to pay for Food Stamps for those in need, school lunches for kids who can't pay, etc than pay his $109 million golf tab, so far.

Amen to where I'd rather see my tax dollars going too, Linda. Why do Republicans have such animosity toward food stamps? There most likely is some misuse of them, I will cede that. But, I don't think it is anywhere near the point that Republicans try to make us believe. And you know what, if it comes down to making a choice I'd far rather err on the side of feeding someone who is taking advantage of the system than to think that I did not feed someone who was genuinely in need.
When it comes to Barr trying to stifle Mueller, these people sure do put a lot of work into trying to keep Mueller from talking while at the same time they are shouting that he found nothing.

And in his typical "my mouth is moving so it's a lie" fashion: When he says "many people are saying" and "I don't know" you know a big lie is coming. I think he's listening to the voices in his head.

Trump has opened a Pandoras Box full of hate and it is like a Breeder Reactor: "Breeder reactor, nuclear reactor that produces more fissionable material than it consumes to generate energy." Unhappiness about everything. Not on the same level of course, but I get a email from a longtime friend that her husband's birthday passed with no acknowledgement from us. ( I still think we sent a card). So no card on my bday.........lol Oh O.K........N/P... Difference being is I don't care. Nonsense or forgetfulness at our age or any age really needs a pass. Too much other carp going on......... to be concerned about @#$%.

People can be so petty about things which in fact are so inconsequential, and yet totally ignore horrendous things like what is happening on our southern border.
